I’ve seen a sheep do that fence trick by head butting the fence and flipping over. It wasn’t riding a Santa Cruz though.

Update – now reported in store. They were a bit shocked at the advice I had been given and readily accepted that an employee causing the damage was their problem. Details taken – all electronically and now off to head office for insurance to deal with. I’m hoping that it doesn’t affect my insurance – its not a motoring incident after all.

Seemed as though they dealt with these things quite regularly!

Thanks all, worth pursuing then. Their attitude that really grates – I’m sure the guy never set out to damage my car but it happened. Certainly no intention to get my insurance involved.

I will ask for the cctv. I have a receipt from the store to prove timings etc. £250million of over estimated profits now a little tiny bit higher!

Ninja roadies in dark lanes or riding at dusk with no lights is going to increase the risk of getting hurt. Its very simple. There is no excusing bad driving but cyclists have to take responsibility for their own actions as well.

Also, articles like this are two a penny, written by sheep, quoting morons. Morons are to be found on every road and in every council chamber. Taking umbrage and demanding that drivers “should” see riders and “should” only drive as far as their headlights project (live in a hole by any chance?!!) is not going to change behaviour of every driver is it!?

Often these articles are written about ‘people on bikes’ rather than cycle enthusiasts – chavs on their phone, popping wheelies on their stolen bikes’ in the dark with no lights. The ones who moan on here should not be the target of these articles because surely they have the common sense to dress to be seen on the roads they choose to share with idiots in metal cages.

Apparently the RAF felt it best that I didn’t fly one of their expensive air based toys….I have no idea what it says on that image above.

I have a 2005 with 2008 Talas. However, I would like to stick some old coil vans on there as well as the ancient Romic I have in the garage!!

If modern is a requirement then I’d be tempted to get the Sektor coils when they are being sold off cheap – as they often seem to be.

Hope wheelset and Hope lights -both on ‘group’ orders arranged via people on here – whatever happened to those?

    The mould spray!

Custom Oakleys via PSA on here that turned into free Oakleys!

Home Protect – seems to be as good as the old M&S (in terms of price) but bikes have to be specified over 1500 I think. Even with 5 bikes above that named on the policy (new for old) I’m not paying any more than I was with M&S.

I agree with Philby – yours doesn’t have ‘kerb’ appeal or is that ‘curb’? Phil Spencer has a lot to answer for!

Get some potted greenery in that minging (although very tidy) front garden – you need to get people in to appreciate how well you’ve done the interior. Get rid of the OIEO – I wouldn’t even look twice at a property with that on as it screams (IMO) out “I want to play buyers off against each other”.

If you are an MP then obviously its your ‘right’ to expenses way above your actual outlay…however, I’m guessing you’re not and this type of event can provide a company with a very quick way of getting rid of you should they wish to.

The stairlift reminds me of a pub on Sheringham seafront – not sure whether it was to lift old gits in or drunks out! Average age seemed to be about 108 there!

Uhmm, I expected a total piss take but some good ideas there! Can’t believe I hadn’t thought of using some old inner tubes!! The damp proof course stuff could also be perfect!

EDIT and the tennis tape – thanks, that could work!

If you organised all the repairs what on earth was the agent doing in the first place? We ditched ours as they practically sent in a SWAT team every time a light bulb needed changing, charging us for the privilege. e might be lucky but our agent renews the tenancy every year and keeps the deposit sorted (via the proper scheme) and doesn’t charge for those things. I guess they do that to ensure I use them again when I need a new tenant.

I do find myself chasing rent more than I did before – it always gets paid but the tenant often ‘forgets’ to pay on time now that I’m managing.

    HI all

Have to admit I took my eye off this as replies were a bit scarce last night. Some of these (Royal Oak and Rivendale) looked just the ticket but two night minimum stays at weekends.

I booked into the Waterloo Inn south of Buxton in the end! I will keep these ideas for reference though so thanks to all that replied.

They lasted 20 minutes in the garden ‘practice’ so fingers crossed!

Take a look at the “Water to Go” bottles. Seem likely to at least minimise the risk of ever running out of water in this country.

Radio 5 had a call in on this subject yesterday. I’m not for a minute saying that all is known in this case but what struck me was caller after caller talking about brain tumours in relatives and their experiences with NHS consultants refusing to countenance PBT. I’m not talking about considered decisions based on facts of whether or not each case was appropriate for PBT but simply that the consultants refused to even discuss the option.

That’s arrogance of the highest order and if it was my child I’d want my kid to at least be assessed by an expert clinic that offers PBT. Google may not provide all the answers but it can be brilliant for at least generating some questions about options that ‘may’ be available. Doctors are not perfect and have no right to refuse to discuss options like that.

Having seen an interview with one of the consultants at Southampton, I can very well believe how frustrated the parents were. He almost ‘boasted’ that their care would have provided a 70-80% chance of the child surviving for another 6 months!! Either that or a ‘chance’ that their child could live for many many years – its not a hard choice is it?

I paid 85m3 (builders bag), moisture was variable!! Oak seemed a bit fresh (not really wet though) and required a few extra weeks drying whilst the Ash was bone dry. I’m looking at Morsowood delivery which is very pricy but supplied as kiln dried. With 10% off for the first order and on-going use of the crate it comes in as a wood store, I reckon its cheaper than buying / making a wood store separately.

Is there a legal right to ‘reject’ the house? Surely just get a surveyor or your own builder in for a day before moving your stuff in? We bought a new flat many years ago and the HSBC thing worked for us on some faulty window frames – as long as you point it out in the first two years.

I’ve found as many ‘hidden issues’ in the current 2nd hand house than I did in the new flat.

Interesting this. I’m the owner of a technology start-up, pre-revenue with no guarantee of success! Investment and corporate support now arriving and things are generally ‘on the up’. At some stage in the next few months I will be looking to ‘bring in some help’. Firstly through a funded interim programme but with the intention of full-time should it work out for both parties.

Legal / commercial background is what I need with experience of working with start ups. Someone to help structure the business and plan its growth – an MD type role while I sort the tech and customers.

Geography needn’t be a constraint at this point. Seems to be a lot of disillusioned people out there that might fancy a challenge? My email is in my profile if anyone is remotely interested in a chat.

It amazes me that some people buy homes right next to golf fairways and then proceed to build tree houses / play areas for their kids right on their boundaries! Not only do they pay a premium for the privilege of living there, they offer their offspring as target practice!

Nice relaxing BBQ anyone? Right next to a load of over weight, sometimes drunken, badly dressed imbeciles spanking a golf ball in seemingly random directions! Not for me thanks as I am one of the afore mentioned imbeciles! Although me and the people I play with are “OK” at the game, it is very very easy to **** a golf ball in the wrong direction – a long way in the wrong direction! It amazes me that more damage to health / property isn’t evident but there aren’t many golfers that would leave their details in the garden of the home owner whose conservatory window they have just smashed! Some courses still provide insurance for their members and even visitors within the green fee occasionally but it is rare.

With regard to RoWs. If I see a ped or a rider on a golf course, whether they should be there or not, then I wait. Its bugger all to do with legality – just common decency. More inclined to launch one at the annoying four ball in front that seem incapable of completing a round of golf in under five hours!

t853 – I have a similar question. Does the Sky box that remains (assuming I switch from SKy to to Freesat by Sky) retain its recording functionality?

    cb
    Free Member

Thanks eric – this could work out cheaper than I anticipated! Another question though, if I convert my existing Sky package to the Freesat by Sky it will cost £25. Would Sky allow me to get the full installation offer of £175 for the box, dish and Freesat for another part of the house? I’m doubting that, but it would offer a good solution to getting reliable tv to the office (running cable from the existing dish would be a mess!).

eric – when you say subscription – they charge I assume? I know that a Freesat box costs but its a one off cost.
