I have an old Quasar that did a bit of everything. Pretty heavy but has room for two and kit. The older I get though, the more reluctant I am to share a tent!

We went UE Boom as well and it sounds good IMO. I would have chosen the Bose if money were not a factor.

Blimey – mine didn’t come with bleed kit – they must be honouring orders with new stock. Are yours the silver collar ones or black?

Wood fibre based insulation batts or boards will be cheaper than celotex and offer a bit of assurance re condensation i.e. they take in excess moisture when required and release again later on.

Mines been picked up by UPS as well. Wonder where they got them from if there was such a delay between now and original orders being sent out? Thanks OP!

geoffj – fair enough on the Daily Mail – that was more aimed at bruneep who seems to think that having an alternative view on the world to him makes me a hippy!

The use of the word indulgent still shows naivety IMHO. If the maternity ward was rammed and there was a shortage of midwives, there is no way that they would have sent them out to a home birth. Instead we would have been told to get our arses down to the hospital. So in summary, we got a better experience, the midwives ate biscuits and we still disagree!

Looking up the word ‘indulgent’ in the thesaurus show alternatives such as lenient, tolerant, generous, non-judgemental and understanding. There’s a bit of irony for you.

EDIT – it was also 6 years ago so perhaps the economics thing hadn’t hit home at the time…

If you had actually read my first post you would have noted the bit where we were encouraged to have a home birth by the midwife. The fact that we had two for a couple of hours as they crossed over what I assumed to be shift patterns is hardly our fault. It was (we were told) the policy at our NHS trust to encourage home births as only 3-4% were currently delivered that way. Now we all (mostly I think) respect NHS staff and would prefer that they had a greater say in budgetary matters than pen pushing administrators. If those staff then decide that two midwives should be present rather than just one then I wouldn’t be arrogant enough to think I know better than them. We had the 2 midwives between 17 women experience the first time, the quality of care was patchy at best and if another woman had gone into labour at the same time as my OH I dare say I would have ended up at the business end with a pair of goalkeeping gloves! Just because we exercised an option that was available to us doesn’t make it indulgent or indeed Utopian! Go back to your Daily Mail.

geoffj – its the hospital that decide how many staff are present at home births so having two is hardly indulgence is it. Very odd thing to say. It may well be due to hours worked as the first was there on her own for 2-3 hours having been called out at 3am. Damn site cheaper for the NHS as well and gives the mother better rest than being on a maternity ward.

Having a home birth and signing up to the mantra of the NCT are not necessarily the same thing so this hippy hating is also odd. Each to their own and listen to the midwife. Very glad that we’re never doing it again though…

Daffy / Bedmaker – do you get issues with smoke in the room when you re-stock your Morsos? I have the same as Daffy but quite often get a face full of smoke when I put more logs in. Tried the opening door slowly trick but still occasionally get smoked out! Any way of avoiding this…apart from not putting more logs on!

After our first the midwife encouraged any more to be home births. My other half opted for that as the hospital stressed her way more than the birth. Second arrived at home, without issue and with two midwives present, both eating me out of biscuits and tea! OH was in the bath to be ‘more comfortable’ and was told she could stay there if she wanted – she did and out it popped. Clean up kits had already been provided by the hospital and an hour later we were on our own.

Doubt the OH would have been happy at home for the first though – with all the unknowns.

EDIT: we were only five mins from the hospital if we needed it.

my hermes ask for a phone number for the delivery address but you can enter any old shite or indeed your own number to get around that – they never use it.

Wembley standing tickets sound out in under an hour – maybe they will do another date? Reselling is a frigging scandal. The Hilton at Wembley is charging £385 per room, for what is no more than a slightly posher travel lodge!

I don’t think he blamed the OP – bit sensitive this morning MrDez?

I happen to agree with him, being a non-Londoner these days, some cyclists seem to have a death wish with the way they ride. It may only be 10% but they are the ones that get noticed by non-cyclists or ‘tourists’. If you ride there daily then I guess you get acclimatised to it.

uhmm – having gone onto Netflix’s help page I thought that pitchpro had the answer. However, logging into PSN gives no options for accepting terms and conditions. Now getting a load of DNS errors!!

Other things seem to be working such as online gaming and the blinkbox site. Any ideas how to overcome these DNS issues and why would it be affecting Netflix only?

I bought a frame from Solarider many years ago – he then proceeded to spend a good part of the morning transferring all my old bits from the previous frame to the new one. He did this because he loves bikes, building them, cleaning them and riding them. He’s a decent bloke and his good fortune of being able to afford these things often benefits the rest of us as he sells at very reasonable prices.

His threads, to me, do nothing but demonstrate his love for bikes. I have no interest in road or x riding but do enjoy looking at some bling! I hope he keeps posting.

Do you moaners also grumble when someone dares to park their Ferrari in the high street or do you just take the opportunity to gawp at a stunning car?

Transco were the biggest pile of steaming effluent that I ever dealt with. Quotes varied daily and possible routes to the house seemed to change depending on which “customer dis-service agent” picked up the phone. It took months to sort and when they did come out they started digging up the wrong side of the house – lucky I was off work.

Mine was for connection from another main running perpendicular to my row of houses. Once it was done it saved a fortune as we were on bottled LPG.

Your original plan was correct, however, they are now arses! I wouldn’t talk to them again – just chuck the damn things in the garage and wait until a reasonable time has passed and then “dispose” of them…via ebay obviously. If I were the shop owner I’d be sending you something for your trouble and remembering my thank yous.

EDIT – just got a parcel myself and pretty disappointed that it is something that I ordered and paid for…how dull.
