We have some but the version where you (have an option to) plug an ethernet cable in ‘locally’. We did this to get better speeds for my other half whilst working in her office and for online gaming for the PS3. We paid a little more than £20 for the set of three that we have (maybe £60) but the difference was incredible – and they’ve been reliable. Little bit annoying to set-up but that was me being an IT luddite and poor instructions.

CFH – thanks for the recommendation! Our only veggie didn’t eat fish either! We didn’t try the ‘steaks for sharing’ but they might get a go next time!

Quick update should anyone else find themselves in similar need – went to Sophie’s and very good it was! Sunday roast was £17 but kids eat the roast for free! We ended up with 5 kids so pretty good deal for Covent Garden!

    Veggies should look elsewhere though!

Mate has just bought a 3.0 litre version – R Line or some such name. I can vouch from the passenger seat that it goes like stink. Boot is an embarrassment though. Really impressed with interior and toys that come with it. He ended up paying £15k or so under list as VW were doing offers plus garage haggling.

They’ve been on sale for ages – got our manc ones a month ago. Unless extra dates maybe?

pdf – anything really, chinese and indian excepted.
    CF – looks interesting
jam – agree Rain Forest would appeal to them but there are limits and that place goes above and beyond! Planet Hollywood was another option and does 2for1 offers with train tickets.

I’m guessing the local branches will vary within chains as well. I’m new to the world of specs but in my experience Vision Express have been excellent whilst Specsavers functional at best. Bit like private healthcare and NHS – you end up with the same solution but the service levels between the two were night and day.

You can afford the crowbar to prise apart your tight arse as well then…

My garage used to use anyone’s motor to go and get lunch etc – test drive they said! They crashed mine once whilst on said test drive! I told them to bring me a rental and the old one fixed and cleaned – they did. It was a shit car and they were always helpful prior to that so no point at losing my rag.

I also bought a car from Motorpoint once, put deposit down and came back a week later with 200 extra miles on the clock and a scuffed alloy. They were stupid enough to enter the mileage on the document when I put the money down and then deny any wrong doing. Full set of new wheels and tyres is what telling porkies cost them!

It would be no surprise to me if your van is parked on a mechanic’s drive tonight! Ask them how well it drove on their test drive…

    Well that cleared that up…

So effectively you got ‘double discount’? Maybe they are doing this deliberately as an apology? Bit like the free Oakleys some years back. Maybe I’ll spend the other cash as well then!

Update in case anyone else has similar questions in future.

As a first timer to Glasgow it surprised me a little as to how ‘strung out’ the place is! We stayed near Central Station and weren’t overly impressed with the immediate drinking / eating options! However, thanks to suggestions above I can confirm that Fanny Trollops is a fantastic place to eat! I’d get a cab there next time though!

Also West for beer drinking with good food as well. though far more basic fare. Another one that I’d rather have taken a cab!

ACDC at Hampden were on great form I thought though the venue isn’t one I’d rush back to. Sold out but gave the impression (due to stage position) of being half empty!! Odd that most of the gig was in daylight as well! Fiver a beer was taking the proverbial!

    Resurrect time!

Have people received their refunds to their paypal accounts? If so, did you get two payments like I did?

No doubt they will claim it back at some point but wondering whether everybody got double refunds?

OH won a holiday to Mauritius – by entering a comp on the plane on the way back from Mauritius!

I won a mug and a few games in an old ZX mag

Also shirt, tie and cufflinks from Lewins on one of those drop your business card in the jar type affairs. Wasn’t that surprised as I’d just bought two suits and a shed load of shirts from them and they “suggested” that it might be a good idea to drop the card in!

Well, I got the refund as well. Finally got a call back and they documented everything for a purchase made earlier. I got the official voucher email but they didn’t ask about that. All handled pretty well with politeness and apology etc.

I emailed my seller to explain what happened and they said they’d had loads of similar issues and that ebay technical bods were looking into it (rather than it has simply expired). Hope yet that it may return later today.

Can’t see anywhere that states they can end this early? I’m half way through a purchase having had an offer accepted by a seller – do I have to buy?

Isn’t the normal treatment CCA? Before it was banned of course – chromated copper arsenate? Tastes pretty dreadful I’d imagine

Surely the definition of flexibility would not allow a time limit? If you have a customer outside – open the door!

I went half way for a recent wedding and bought John Lewis vouchers. More ‘gifty’ than cash but gives them freedom to choose at their leisure.

My recent use was with Europcar – there were so many dents, dings and scratches on the car that they’d have had an almighty job proving I’d added any more!

As above – I’ve just done this from Nice and saved a packet. I think I remained liable for the first £900 before I bought the aftermarket policy for £35 for a year! Would have cost me £100 plus just for the week to use the hire firms “additional insurance”!!

Uhmmm WBAC states £2520 but that assumes ‘no damage’. There are a few minor scuffs on the car and I guess they will hammer me for those.

Ok – Tallpaul is ball park. £2.2k is the offer but Parkers quote £2485 for the same car with 100k (re trade in px) on the clock. Got me thinking I should get a bit more. Auto Trader private and trade sales start at £3k for 90k miles and above and up to £5k (silly price I know).

    I’ll try WBAC

There’s a “Gentleman’s” establishment at an out of town retail park type thing – don’t go there, its awful.

I guess it won’t help if your budget is fixed but we are shifting a 55 plate Leon (2.0TFSI). Shade over 60k miles. Few minor battle scars from having kids in it but mechanically spot on. The OH has decided she wants a new Yeti and we have been offered 2300 trade in.

Autotrader search suggests £3500 is the cheapest of this age and model going to over £4500. It would come with a year of MOT. Can’t be arsed selling privately as don’t have the time but if you are interested let me know.

EDIT: would come with a full set of Kumho winter tyres as well

Obvious answer is whatever was agreed beforehand. Otherwise perhaps 2.5% of sales cost, reduced by whatever the salesman haggled. Fixed maximum per year or wave the max to get the guy (you) continuing to sell in that fashion.

EDIT – also depends on how generous base

I sent £600 by mistake to a guy on here a long time ago. I was buying a car and a pram and got the accounts mixed up (it was a crap car). Fortunately he understood and transferred the money back whilst I collected the pram!

Then the car blew up 15 minutes after collecting that…

The Danes have it right – dipped headlights all the time! There are simply no downsides to that.
