Quick update – thanks for all the posts!

As another witness exists, Cheshire Police are interested in following this up and are visiting me at the weekend for a statement I presume!

scrumfled – yes there were other people walking directly behind us. Already started the process of reporting to company and police.

I’ll see if any of the other parents that were there do Twitter – its alien to me.

Donk – mate as in colleague. He had obviously walked to try and find the right house. He was a tool to the extent that even the driver was pulling him back! To add to that, the “mate” probably didn’t see just how close the driver had just been to killing someone. HIs (one of his many) view was that “well he didn’t kill your bloody kids did he, so what’s the problem”.

    He wasn’t very bright.

I only just saw the thread resurrection and was about to say pull the hell out of that one! Whether right or wrong – I would have done the same.

Saw this yesterday from Easedale, no idea it was going past and barely heard it. Fluke but great to see

dbcooper – you’re a typical landlord that everyone on stw hates! Always money grabbing, treating tenants like scum etc etc…oh hang on, this isn’t supposed to happen – stop being so bloody helpful, you’ll give us all a good name!

OP – seriously, read a website or something. This is very straightforward stuff assuming you have evidence of your complaints. There are strict rules and timelines for this stuff – find out who has the deposit money – it should be on your tenancy agreement. Your landlord is a dick.

I ordered a Night Vision jacket late last week from a chain store. Then bought the matching hood from Amazon. Come Monday morning the “sorry – we didn’t really have any stock” email arrived. They offered a £5 voucher but all that does is encourage you to spend more with them. Plus it cost that much for the hood…

Loft space seems OK – can see daylight etc. Think I’ll take the plunge…

    Sorry for the thread resurrection!!

I have been considering one of these and wanted to know how people have been getting on? We don’t have massive condensation problems (90s house) but our bedroom is north facing and we get a fair bit on the windows in the mornings. As such mould does form in these areas but we don’t get wet walls or such like.

Would one of these things be suitable or overkill?

    Thanks

MOre to the point – why aren’t you sharing a builder? Surely cheaper than two goes at it?

No kids at the wedding is fine in my book but that’s not the issue here – its the timing. Sorry but your brother is a knob! You and your family sound like they are a bit in fear of him – I’d have given him both barrels – to him and his princess bride.

Lovely motors but my mate’s struggles to get a couple of sets of golf clubs in which is just crazy for that size of car. All bonnet and no boot!

Refurb site doesn’t give student discount (I think!) so better off going new if you have education discount – works out similar in price.

Did they give you anything to stop gut rot? Omeprazole is what I have to take in conjunction

I would have guessed £30k and a shed load of hours for a number of years before progressing to serioulsy good money.

We just traded in a 2005 Leon TFSi for just over £2k. It only had 60k miles on it and had been serviced properly. Full set of winters as well. Cosmetically it would need 2-300 spending to get it looking tidier. Certainly good cars available for the OPs budget!

We couldn’t be arsed dealing with the tyre kickers for the extra few hundred that a private sale would have generated. It would have given someone a proper bargain so its always worth asking on here – seen a few nice motors advertised recently.

Out of interest is there a minimum resolution for a photo in order to be blown up to this size and not look naff?

He can resign whenever he wants but that won’t stop HMRC coming after him. They will have Articles, he needs to read those and then talk to CH. IME CH are pretty helpful as are HMRC.

divenwob – good question, the internal parts are still available so I assume it would be possible but certainly worth a double check. The question I had regarded the legality? I think the builders are being lazy but I’m not certain by any means.

We’re in a similar situation to the OP, 16 year old Potterton (spent about 400 on it over the last three years). We’re looking to extend and the builders say that they cannot re-locate the existing boiler due to some regs or other? Is that true? We’re thinking going unvented if that’s the case because the engineer that last repaired the boiler said a combi would struggle for a 4 bed house, 3 baths.

I would guess a full replacement is the most that you can expect and you won’t be losing anything if it breaks again with that kind of warranty. Sounds like you’ve got your beady little eye on something even shinier…

You can ask – they can say no! I’d take the replacement and get riding again especially as you were hinting that the 4-6 weeks was an inconvenience a few posts ago!

Stevenage railway station is one that I have used in the past – about £6-7 per day I think.

I make sure that I write “numerous scratches” on each panel that is marked if they refuse to note them down. That said, I find more decent hire car companies that bad ones these days – in terms of the damage issues discussed here. They however, universally staffed by bored, hard of learning clock watchers.

thanks for those suggestions – I think my future may be clearer once the tidy up is done – I’m still on an iphone 3S and the new mac tells me that will no longer work with cloud idrive (or some such name). I need them more on the phone tbh.

As a follow up – Currys started offering 10% cash back on macbooks…the moment I ordered elsewhere! Might be helpful for someone though – think they also do quidco etc

55 plate Leon had similar compressor issues – however, rather than getting rid we got the £1500 Seat quote down to about £575 at the local Volkswagen dealer (to my shock, and that included water pump whilst at it). Then off to local independent who beat that by another £50.

He did say afterwards that he’d never do it for that price again as he had to take the engine off its mountings to get it done. He considered it a learning exercise! Look at online forums – very common its seems.

nodrog2 – or anyone else? How sure are you of the T130 Works being £2k in the sale? That’s a hell of a discount!

There’s two type though! The arrogant aggressive a holes who clearly want to be in front, even if it is 30 yards. Then there are those that are purely and simply – crap drivers. No intention of getting past even if the road was clear but insist on being right up one’s arse! ‘Generally’ I find men to be the former and women to be the latter.

The more recent craze to me is the ‘front bumper gaters’. Those on the motorway that think flicking on an indicator (if they can be bothered) and swerving right causing the cars over taking them to brake. Highest form of arrogance – I’m watching the box sets of Dexter at the moment and this type of driving gives me evil thoughts…
