we used thegardenoffice.co.uk based on an old airfield near Aylesbury. You can see what you’re buying beforehand

well insulated, look good but not triple glazed. They may offer it as an extra

I’ll second the FENSA accreditation. I know this to my cost! Make sure they are registered (ring Fensa) and that you get the paperwork when the job is done – don’t pay until you have this.

Also, not all local firms are angels. I used one recommneded from here, they fitted a complete disaster of a bi-fold. They then went bust and opened up again a few months later using the same name. Didn’t want to know when I complained.

Thhis outfit had Fensa all over their vans – Fensa had never heard of them…

If anyone missed out on the goggles I will have an orange pair for sale when I get back from skiing next week. I bought them for this trip but didn’t seem ‘right’ for skiing.

£20 posted if anyone wants them.

He won’t pay you a penny when he hears how much all your kit is likely to cost. He’ll be sat there thinking up reasons why he shouldn’t have to part with cash. Call the non-emergency police line and get it logged. Ask if they will check insurance cover on his vehicle.

I posted on here a few months ago about someone dinging my car in a tesco car park. A witness stopped me as I returned to the car and I asked a question on here about reporting. I did and the police did follow up, went to visit him at home which gave him a fright. ‘Reminded’ of his repsonsibility to stop (witness said he had got out, had a cursory look and buggered off).

Driver agreed to settle it direct but wanted to view damage. He then denied everything again – said he hit another part of the car. I let it go in the end but regret that as he was just a fibbing old git. AT least he had to squirm a little with the police turning up at his door!

Sorry – subsequent question. Can the company at the other end allow my specific email address to get through or is all the control exerted over IP addresses?

We are only small so doubt we get a dedicated server. Appears that I’m blacklisted under SPAMCANNIBAL, LASHBACK and one other!

Guilty by association it would appear!

Thanks Cougar so adding a new email address i.e. from name@company to anothername@company is unlikely to help?

2250 a few weeks ago for an Enduro. Previously for a new bike was 1350 for a Trek Liquid. £900 for a 2nd hand 5 Spot frame back in ~2007. The Turner is now insured for over £3.5k due to new for old policy.

Serioulsy struggled to part with the 2250 due to changing circumstances, kids etc.

Mate left a full rucsac on a train out of London Victoria – got told it wasn’t on the train when we reported pretty much immediately. Week later his girlfiend’s dad wanders in with it on his back. Somebody had taken it and looked into his address book (paper in those days), found her details (guess she was first on the list) and called her to find out who it might belong to. Think the delay in her telling him was a subtle form of torture for him being an idiot.

Drunk bloke opposite me on a train home left his phone behind, I couldn’t get to the door quick enough to give it back so called the first number in the address book. Wife answered and got agressive!! Told me point blank her husband was not on a train coming out of London and who the hell was I to tell her otherwise!! Guess he got some grief for not being where he had told her he was…

I wear knee and elbow, bit stable door after the horse etc but broken elbows hurt!

This is where CRC really come into play, I ended up ordering about ten pairs of elbow pads from them, 5 styles in 2 sizes each. Its remarkable how different they all are in the fit. The POCs looked the best and were on sale but went back as they just didn’t feel comfy for me.

Tried the blinking – it worked!! Thanks. But for a longer term fix I’ll swap out the cable and see. Thing is the flickering appears to relent after a period of time – anywhere between 5 mins and 20 mins. Have a feeling its something other than the cable…

Thanks again everybody, I’m over my panic I think. The measurements above have helped. Not being able to put the pedals on has caused doubt – I’m not used to 29ers or indeed any modern bike! Pedals are going on tomorrow, and tbf the shop has said it will pay to get the post sorted locally (30 minutes drive away unfortunately).

Seems I need to get them to send the handbook, valves and pedals. This model stated resin flats do come with it (will be rubbish I know but useful for the kids bikes).

Ramsey – thanks for the info!

Thanks again for the replies – I’m not doing myself any favours trying to sort this without inserting pedals or riding the thing (in case I have to return it).

Will speak with the shop and see if they are happy for me to have an ‘up and down the road’ test.

Idiot db – thanks, will try thsoe measurements. Thanks also hopk1ns.

Tracey – Cheshire based. I had nothing in the box so it seems I’m short pedals (basic I know) and vales at the bare minimum.

zerolight – do you mean ‘normal riding position’ by neutral? Measuring against my old bike, the saddle height is just about right with the seatpost down as far as it will go into the frame and the dropper element at full extension. With the command post I can then drop halfway down and supposedly small increments from there down to the lowest setting. This would be OK.

However, if that ‘normal riding position’ were to be just a little too high in practice then I wouldn’t have that fine adjustment available to make it fit as the post is already as far down as it goes. A Reverb would give me that adjustability I guess?

Seriously Ramsey – p*ss off. The lbs is one of many that I went to to look at a variety of bikes from a variety of manufacturers. Spending this amount of money isn’t a regular occurance for me so go and be dull on your own thread.

    Thanks everyone else.

Tracey – I’m 6ft but longer on body than legs, 31/32inch leg. I was pretty comfortable ordering the large as I’m bang in the middle of the size guide. I sat on an equivalent 2017 model in an lbs and it ‘seemed’ ok so something is amiss. Trouble with buying on price and mail order (this model is 1500 more in 2017 than the sale 2016) is that I can’t ride it to try.

I know you guys are Enduro experts! Can you tell me if these bikes came with tubeless tapes and valves in the box in 2016? All I got was the bike.

I could ask them to swap it over. Having sat on it again, it keeps collapsing from its middle position and the intermediate positions don’t work at all. The post is definately faulty.

Thanks guys – seems simple now!! Sorted! However, seems with the seatpost all the way in, the 125mm travel is too much for me anyway! I can’t get full extension of the dropper – appears I’ve bought the wrong size bike! This is just the dining room sitting test – might be fine riding but if I do that and its not then I won’t be able to return it.

    Bugger.

uhmmm the stereo would be a good half way house and only £2100 at the moment – real bargain for that spec! Trying to narrow my choices rather than extend them though!

Thanks for feedback chrisorders. Assume it flys downhill?

Interested to hear about how you got on with the geometry? I’m in a similar situation but looking at the S model. The sit on it in a shop test felt odd. Very stretched out and weight on the bars if that makes sense?

Also concerned about the 130mm travel and whether that’s enough to compensate for my lack of skill! Also sat on the G160 and that felt more natural to me although a medium felt big enough (1.8m tall). Other choice is Spesh Enduro (Stumpy not for me) and that felt comfy in the shop. Have demos coming up for the Enduro and G160 but seemingly impossible to get a ride on a T130.

All the reviews suggest T130 more than capable downhill but test riders will be better riders than me and I wonder if I might get found out being a bit on the crap side? Keen to know also whether the geometry of the T130 gives if much of an advantage going uphill over the other two, given that its no lighter?

demo seems unlikely (getting on both I mean). Whyte demo days anywhere close won’t be til March (by which time they may have sold out!!) and Spesh model I’m looking at is 2016. Lbs is trying to get a Whyte in for me to try but wasn’t optimistic as demand seems to outstrip supply anyway.

This modern geo confuses the hell out of me. Was set on the Enduro but now looked at the Whytes!! Budget creep though…

The reach on the Enduro is almost 50mm shorter than the Whyte. This seems a lot to me but I’ve no idea what the impact will be, not having ridden much in the way of modern bikes. Whytes keep going up in price as well which makes the Enduro nearly 400 cheaper.

We have Rock front and back and glad that we spent the money. You can spec extras like wire mesh in the panels to slow down a kicking in attempt – slow down even more that is.

I went with the Garden Office dot co dot uk. Spendy but DIY not an option for me and joiner quotes were not much cheaper.

Might be worth googling Dunster House customer care before committing to them – despite the positivity above…

T1000 – the ducting route can be improved but thats no longer the issue – its the design of the unit not allowing all steam to be sucked into the filters in the first place. Some just gets diverted around the sides of the unit and into the internal cavity via the lamp housings…

Its first world but its f’ing annoying when you shell out thinking you’re buying a premium product!

Simons – Elica’s parent – you are correct. Two things however, It is the fancy designed versions that aren’t fit for purpose IMO. Many of their ‘standard’ designs will be fine. My issues wouldn’t have occured if more detail on requirements was evident in literature. The main issue though is that the Elica brand itself is imported and sold in the UK by people who couldn’t give a toss.

    Small update

DO NOT BUY YOUR EXTRACTOR HOOD FROM ELICA!!!

UK importers / “customer service” are rude, arrogant and dismissive.

I hope that you all fry food with lids on the frying pan. That’s the latest ‘absolute requirement’ shite that they’re spinning now.

As someone mentioned above – form over function.

Perhaps a law change in the direction of ‘caught driving without a licence and its an immediate custodial sentence’? Full prisons for a while perhaps but eventually the message might catch on. Seems they still deciding whether to progress other charges.

If you want it to keep cool in the summer wood fibre insulation will help more than the nasty mineral wool stuff. Will also help with avoiding condensation
