If you do stay out a bit – we are normally last minute and end up at Prem Inns 6/7 miles away, book the cab EARLY!!

How long do these resorts take to recover from dumps like these? I’m in L2A a week tomorrow – never thought I’d be hoping for it to stop snowing…

Pretty sure I saw it over Chester yesterday, I got plenty of tuts as I stood in everyones’ (in their opinion!) way whilst staring up at it. Didn’t know its name so today is a school day!

If it helps…the vouchers can also be used for their servicing options, which happen to be half price in January. £30 to make my neglected bike well again seems like a bargain to me!

Is it just full price stuff that vouchers can be exchanged for, or sales items as well?

Ok sounds good – thanks all!

Didn’t realise warranty was lifetime – just paid £34 for a new Brabantia lid!

The Vodaphone deals that I have been offered already included the 15% work discount which they seemingly give to anyone

posiwev – how were mobiles.co.uk like to deal with?

At the mo I have all you can eat minutes and texts, 7GB data (I use very little) for £24pm. I pay an extra £7 for 500 mins of international calls (from the UK).

I’d like that with a shiny new phone along the lines of those listed above! Some of the U switch deals are getting close.

good call – never heard of Mobiles.co.uk – anyone any knowledge of them? Cheapest by far

If that was the case wouldn’t everybody have the same issues? If there are only 2 channel options…? Most houses have routers now.

fossy – they are named differently and I see both when searching for wifi options. Laptop has connected to both previously. Now just the 2.4 giving trouble.

within the house or neighbours do you mean? no others in the house although we do have a wifi enabled printer – could that be causing issues?

    Now now Drac…the 4k thing was a fair question…

I got a pair from Sports Pursuit that had 2 lenses included. I bought mine for skiing but one was for sunny weather and the other low light. £40 odd quid.

Cougar – my leads work in that I get a picture. I was just wondering wheter or not I was getting the ‘best picture possible’. And whether a humble lead could improve things in that respect.

Now this 2.1 thing seems to suggest gaming repsonse times will be improved and as I’m completely hopeless on COD, that might be nice. But maybe that will only be relevent with a PS4 Pro?

    cb

Right – thanks! How recent is the version 2.0b? My leads are prob 4-5 years old…

At the moment I have a PS4 but not the pro, that may get changed at some point if its worth it.

Netflix comes through the tv itself now rather than via the PS4 as I used to do it – assume that bit is nor relevant (ethernet connected).

I guess my concern was the link between the Humax and the tv. Does that need a 4k lead?

I use a dish and Freesat Humax box. The tv has both Freeview and Freesat but If I plug it straight into the dish I won’t have recording functionality? Unless I USB a hard drive in there.

The wife has been missing a week now. Police said to prepare for the worst. So I have been to the charity shop to get all her clothes back.

I was explaining to my wife last night that when you die you get reincarnated but must come back as a different creature. She said I would like to come back as a cow. I said you’re obviously not listening.

    I’m here all night…

I woke up last night to find the ghost of Gloria Gaynor standing at the foot of my bed. At first I was afraid…….then I was petrified.

I was at the ATM the other day and a little old lady asked me to check her balance…so I pushed her over.

Chains would be 52 Euros – looks liek the option to go for – assume I don’t need chains on top of snow tyres?

    cb

Christ! Europcar want 210 Euros for snow tyres!! Might just get a helicopter from the airport!

uhmmm my French is poor but using the Narauto website it looks like I could be looking at 70 – 100 EUROS for chains. Just guessing using a Kangoo as an example hire car. Maybe the rental guys will be cheaper…

Ok thanks all – will pop into a hypermarket type place and pick some up. Guess that will be cheaper than hiring from the car rental place.

nickdavies – how does one go about ‘blagging’ a 4×4!!?? Give me some charm tips!

Only place I’ve ever had to drive in resort was Chamonix and the main road there was well travelled so no problem. Getting out of the car parks was another matter…

nbt – not sure what I made up? £20k plus for four over NY. Nothing included apart from room, food and drinks by the looks of it. Go a week later and it drops £7k but even that is expensive. Shame as that type of skiing holiday would appeal. Haven’t looked at other Club Med places so maybe they are better value but even a top end chalet will be less than half the price over NY.

EDIT this was price for a sinlge suite for 4. Maybe they have cheaper rooms but all that was left was suite options – there were many types so I assumed they are all referred to as suites?

DTs – nope, would be cheaper to have a mortgage on a chalet!

    cb

Wow – that Club Med place is £20k for two adults and two kids for a week over new year – not including flights, transfers, ski hire, ski pass etc etc!!

FWIW I had a light of death issue with a PS3 – same as yours with regard to being out of warranty. However, it was a known problem – just kept at them until they finally admitted it and sent me a FOC refurb. Initially they didn’t want to know.

John Lewis also didn’t want to know and were pretty rude which goes against all reviews you hear on stw. Had a ‘manager’ called who was the most arrogant sharp pointy thing you could ever hope to meet. We disagreed on the legislation, quite loudly in front of the queue, until they gave me half the purchase price back to cover the repair cost Sony had quoted.

I ended up well in that case but it took persistance.

I used the Timperley one above, nice chap as suggested but doesn’t deliver to Macc and hugely busy it seems. He does have a partner transport firm that will deliver on his behalf tho and that’s what I’ve gone for.

Looking for bulk / small bags / free stuff?

Small bags of logs both at stove shop near Arighi Bianchi (Tompkinsons I think) and there’s a place in Bollington as you go past the school at Bollington Cross, down the hill a bit on the left.

I’ve used a farmer near Bosley I think for bulk loads in the past, used Google, don’t remember the name.

We have a helpful retiree who shovels all the snow off the 30-40 yards of footpath near his house, that hardly ever gets used. Not a bad thing to do maybe, but he seems to delight in waiting until someone else has cleared the road. Rather than shovelling the snow onto the grass, he just tips it all back into the cleared road…

I think it just keeps you ouit for a while – they assume you are mining sales leads rather than using it foe networking. The whole thing went downhill went Yahoo took it over…

Its still available if appeals to anyone? Family sent for an 05 Saab for the same cash. Better buy for them. Really shocking what sub one grand will buy in the Saab market as well – not sure I’m ever paying decent cash for a car again…

uhmm guess I’m the one driving like an idiot then…

They have made the thing a tiny bit too small in that case, as the ‘main’ route allows cars to straight line the tan section – should be 30mph approaching it but you often pull out when nothing is visible to then have a Q7 / X5 / lowered civic up yer jacksie.

I wonder if planners / designers ever spend any time at these locations before they build the damn things or whether they are ‘standard spec off the shelf’?
