    Aldi sold out!

Looking at these still, it was hinted at earlier about the ones that can act as a kayak as well i.e. a seat can be attached.  One called Bluefin on Amazon – any ideas as to whether these things are useable for kayaking?

I’m not expecting such a thing to be perfect in either guise, bu neither would I want to waste my cash!

Trying to find something that is affordable to let the kids SUP whilst giving me the occasional opportunity to “kayak” (I have no balance!).

Thanks, I’ll have two kids with me so I think the lugging over a gate is out.  Will try the hotel!

Would echo the comments about Keswick – miserable bunch running that place.

I spend a good while cutting, hacking and tearing off some grips from the kid’s bike, then to notice they were lock ons…

this is a coincidence but i logged on tonight because I have just found out an airline has brought forward our flights by 6.5 hours.

We were flying Eurowings (looking on review websites I wish I hadn’t) to Austria in Feb 19.  Business class out (bizzarely it was cheaper than economy) and economy back.

They have kept the flight numbers the same (this seems to get them out of certain rules) but changed the outward leg to 90 minutes later (we can live with that) but also downgraded us to Prem economy. Seems I can get 30% of the outbound fare back because of this according to CAA website, although Eurowings fail to mention that in their email.

However, the return was schedued for 12.35pm departure from Austria and they have now moved that to 06.00!!  That would mean leaving our rental apartment at 01.00 to get there in time for the flight (two kids in tow!).

My question was going to be about rights to cancel the flights and book with another airline?  Most info I read talks about flight delays and compo, nothing really about bringing flights forward.  I don’t want compo, I just want to cancel – anybody know if I have the right to do this?  Can’t find anyhting in Eurowings T&Cs regarding ‘significant time changes’.

Is he part of NHBC?  Assume not or you would have taken that option already?

I think what you propose is entirely fair – to him and you.  You also sound as though everything is documented so well prepared for the court process (under the value for small claims?).

Can you stomach the upfront costs of getting it sorted?  Are you able to risk his company going pop and not paying you?

Usually some stuff going on at Holkham Hall.  There’s also a bird sanctuary place inland that’s worth a visit – name escapes me.  They filmed Springwatch there for a series or two I think.

If you’re a golfer, there are great courses at Cromer and Sheringham and Hunstanton.

We have this Class Dojo thing where we get emails pinged to us all **** day to the extent that we begin to wonder whether there is time left for teaching.

Earlier this week we got the ‘nanny state’ email about how the school “had noticed” that some deviant parents had sent their tubby little bundles of glucose into school with “unhealthy snacks”, which is against school policy.

The very next day, via the very same Dojo came the revelation that the school canteen would be offering Pizza Baps for breaktime the morning after and everybody should send in their mini blobs with 50p each to buy one!

We have sockets on our breakfast bar – not quite and island but they are essentially in cupboards.  We bought a pop up but like those above, didn’t fancy spoiling the worktop!

BSN – thanks.  Did you have single rooms there or shared?  Reviews talk about small and having to have skis in rooms etc?  Any idea what you paid – don’t seem to have a direct email.

I started a new thread for this when perhaps should have stuck this in here?  Its a bit ‘next yeary’ though…

    Any help appreciated!

I’ve joined up with a group that are far more organised than I’d ever be…already booking for next year.

I need accomodation for three people, each with their own bedroom, in a location very close to the centre of Meribel. Don’t mind if apartment or hotel but must be affordable.

Travelling Thursday to Tuesday in early Feb of 2019. Went to L2A this year and found reasonably priced apartment without a problem, seems harder in Meribel!!

Any suggestions please? I know a lot of folk on here are familiar with French skiing so hopeful someone might point us in the right direction. I realise that the Thursday to Tuesday thing is a major pain!

    Cheers

Agree with you entirely but I’m the ‘new bloke’ in this group and just going with the flow!  I found somewhere in Meribel Motteret but its 2k just for the flat for Wed-Tues!  No real idea of that as a location either – need to swat up on Meribel area – seems strung out rather than a central village?

I demoed one (sorry the 160 not 170) and loved the downhill capability (way beyond my own!) but I found it hard work going up.  It was the first really slack bike that I tried though so had nothing else ‘modern’ to compare against.  Great looking bikes IMO.

    P4S – assumed you were a dentist!

Thanks for the info – believe me we avoid the shallow crap as much as we can, but she’s eleven and seems to be worried about this more than anything.  Its two teeth (the ones either side of the front two – that technical enough for you?!) mainly, and these protrude.

Interesting to hear that the brace might not be a permanent fix, assumed it would be.  Will enquire about the longer term need for retainers.  Upwards of 3k is what we are looking at!!

Blimey, does everybody here have Hollywood smile genes?  Nobody else’s kids been thorugh this?

Cheers P4S for the reply, the upwards bit is what is worrying me at the moment!  Looking at those charts and photogrpahic examples, it looks doubtful the NHS would be interested.  Self confidence is everything at this age though and there are long term dental health advantages to getting it sorted now (desperately trying to justify the cost…).

Thanks angeldust – someone can read.  I said its comfy mitsu but it turns corners like a supertanker – that matters to some.

Your reat seats sound different to the ones in my mate’s former LC.  I did say two seats didn’t I…

His faced across the car not forward, they were tiny and you ended up with legs in each others laps…pretty useless! Heavy to remove as well, might be worth the OP checking the options if he needs extra seats.

    Said my mate…once.  Fool.

Mate had one, 55 plate I think, for many years.  It got used well including towing horses, occasionally in a box, and he lived in the sticks.  Comfy inside, drove like a supertanker though.  He got rid when it started getting very spendy – think it was a 2-3k bill for a suspension failure that was the nail in the coffin – air suspension perhaps?

His had the two extra seats in the boot which were next to useless.

    I disagree with some above.

I worked (indirectly) with one of the largest UK clothing charity recycling set-ups for a short time.  Apparently Eastern Europe (Latvia, Lithuania etc) have a thriving high street full of second hand clothes shops selling stuff from UK and other ‘western’ countries.  Much it legally purchased but much of it not.

Have you tried Hargreaves Lansdown?  I had to go thorugh the same process as you, albeit around 8 years ago so rules may have changed.  HL charged me £500 for the report that you seek – it was complete and utter cut and paste garbage and I never went through with the transfer.  However, if you model your own assumptions and are confident in them, it may give you the independent report that you seek.  You can then stick your cash wherever you want.

EDIT – The HL report was supportive of what I wanted to do but was so poor that I didn’t want to give them any more of my money…

The driver has committed an offence so you can sort of insist the police do something about it!

As to getting your car sorted – you need to tell your insurance company what’s happened.  Unfortunately, it may well impact your premiums even if not at fault.

I think the conclusions are ones that had already been reached by many.  You’d have to be a die hard Sky fan to refuse to accept some breach of morality in all this.  However, like many above it annoys me that MPS feel that they can abuse their parliamentary privilige and make accusations that might get them sued if they were in other jobs…

I haven’t looked into the committee make-up but I wonder how many ‘volunteered’ to pay back expenses that they thought they were morally and ethically entitled to?  Or how many took the huge pay rise that they ‘deserved’ whilst all other public sector workers suffered? Or how many failed to take on big businesses that pay no tax or that rape pension funds for their own bonus pots, whilst sitting on protected and well funded pension provision of their own.

Sky and Wiggo are easy targets (and perhaps deserve to be) and headline grabbers.

Can I just ask if they provide full reports on how much PPI that you paid?  Or are some of these pay outs just in the fomr of “here’s an offer to leave us alone”?

Cougar – I share your cynicism but this guy was really helpful.  Sure he would have done it if he could.  The more I think about it I reckon he just didn’t get around to saying “come back in two weeks when your contract is done and we can do it them”….maybe?

Having had a squint elsewhere online there are many comments about having to change my number to PAYG status which takes 30 days notice.  Then port to another provider for say a five quid top up, then port back again to VF…

I have the PAC code but would be willing to stay with VF if they allow me to keep my number and change to SIM only.

The subtlety here I think is that I want to take up a package from a re-seller (CPW). CPW say VF won’t allow me to tranfer to this new SIM only package and keep my number.  Maybe its because I’m still in contract for 2 more weeks and therefore it would be considered an ‘upgrade’?  If I wait until out of contract maybe this hurdle is removed?

EDIT cody – new 12 month SIM deal would also be with VF.

I need to do this for Zurich as I know they sold me some income protection cover that I didn’t want as part of my mortgage – and more importantly I  know that it would have paid out in full anyway as it would take all work related sickness benefits into account before paying me anything.  However, like you, it was a long time ago and I don’t have the paperwork…

I have also tried to claim for an Egg card that I had (to query whether it had PPI rather than demand that it did) and Barclays couldn’t have been less helpful!!  Short sentence on a letter saying “No PPI”, no details of what periods they checked or what cards.  After complaint, I then received “No PPI on the the following card numbers endingXXXX”.  Again, no info on what products these were, what dates I had thenm or whether they were Egg cards, Barclaycards or AN OTHER.

Still going thorugh complaint process but looking like FO for me.  It all seems so easy when others write about about it on here…

Mine was ordered on 16th – Same as above Tesco lied about it being Evans’s fault. Would have got the x3 as well but had to pick the bike up from a service today so ended up costing me more than vouchers. Cock ups happen but the fibbing boils me effluent!

Cyclist was a tit, ambulance driver also a tit – for the extra air horn rather than the driving. The air horn wasn’t a warning to the rider it was a “get out of my way, can’t you see how important I am” blast.

Unnecessary from the driver but in no way did he endanger the cyclsit.

The most disturbing thing was the video that followed that one – group of ned teenagers kicking the bejesus out of a girl on her own, head stamps the lot. Absolute scum…
