The Ship is terrible now, used to be the pre-gig venue for Marquee visits, suitably grubby. Last visit was huge dissappointment.

Likewise, there was a boozer next to the London Chamber of Commerce in Queen Street (pretty sure the manageress there ended up at the Ship) which is now flats / offices! Was a good lunchtime / early evening place.

Looking forward to checking out some of the above next time I visit. The Harp is a great little pub and serves its beer properly!

They own lots of that and other forestry around there. Better for the bike guys to be paying back loans rather than big sod off rents..

    Really good move.

Not sure how common it is, but a pub in the Northern Quarter in Manchester has a load of tables. Its a bit hipster in there for my liking but the carnage that ensues with 5 tables full of pissed up Mancs letting fly is a site to behold…

thanks all – think the dowel thing might work. How would the match / cocktail stick thing work? Do you mean fill the hole with them and then put a screw in or screw in first and then whack sticks in around the screw?

Halestorm are great. Proper old school band. Surprised that they’re headlining arenas though.

Worth checking out the youtube duet with Eric Church.

Have you looked the TNF Rolling Thunder Bags? If you have an outlet place nearby they are a good bet.

Tried sending a mixed grill back at the pub near the station in Edale – manager got agressive and said he had heated it up like the packet says! So yes, there are places that serve vacuum packes steaks – in fact he said the whole thing came in a bag.

It was years ago, but certainly never went back and never will.

    Would a chalet not suit?

Skiing is crazy money these days unless you’re prepared to go last minute. Give your requirements to the likes of Crystal or Neilsen – they will be able to give you the bad news much quicker than you searching!

Haven’t seen your reply to the purpose of the work – are you living there long term and if so how many bedrooms do YOU need.  IMO why worry about long term value when you may spend the next 10/20/30 years using the space yourself.

If you ever plan to work from home then that box room sounds like office material to me…or playstation room

On those cheap Bose – how do you connect with a phone that doesn’t have a standard headphone jack?  Are adpaters available for all phone types?

If it can wait until the Jan sales then I picked up a couple of Ted Baker suits (traditional rather than hipster fit) for peanuts from the House of Fraser sale.  All online, buy different sizes, try on in comfort at home, send back waht you don’t want.

Now that that blke Ashley owns them, they might all be nylon and lime green by now though…

    Panic over…thanks all.

Now to try and convince Thomas Cook that its really not a good idea having our kids scattered all over the plane!

Thought booking late would be simpler but hadn’t bargained on LASTMINUTE.COM being tossers…

Had a go at multiplayer tonight and quite enjoyed it but can’t face shelling out £50 for it.  Some of the maps are re-hashs of previous games and were a bit samey.  Was hoping for a Nuketown style death fest map but haven’t found it yet!

What I would have liked to do would be to grab the bike and offer the scroute a walk home or a chat with the police.

What would have happened is me sitting at home later that day wishing I could have sprung into action quick enough to do that…

Any chance of a quick end to the story…going out soon.

one wheel – appreciate the effort but your link is for a new set up on a new phone.  I simply do not get offered the skip option at the sign in page

Seems to be a J3 issue

Matt – on your link its steps 6&7 that cause the problem.  Setting up first time I am sure is straightforward, but the device protection thing that they mention there is where my problems started.  It seems to be a method to stop people re setting the phone and using it themselves if they have stolen it.

I know its tempting to think ‘just press bloody skip’ but the option ain’t there!  I also tried using my own google account details to see if that would get me past this set up stage (the Aged P wouldn’t be bothered if messages came to me rather than her). However, “these are not the details registered to this phone” message (or simialr wording).

Mike – yes – that’s the scenario except numbers 8 & 9.  I think we were offered a list where reboot was chosen after the wipe all data was performed.  Maybe I shouldn’t have taken this option?  Although the shop staff did exactly the same.

The point about the network changing I agree with – no difference with that phone. We just needed to get the Aged P on a train with a working phone so we bought a Vodaphone PAYG sim and stuck it in my old S6 for her.  That phone was locked to Vodaphone and would have taken a little while to get unlocked to accept her EE sim.

I’ll follow the links provided – thanks for those.  I agree with user error entirely, but due to not recording the account details rather than not finding a skip option!  I do understand what you all mean about that as it was clearly there when the Vodaphone guy set the S6 up with the new sim.  So first set up is no problem, re-using the phone after a factory reset = PITA (for the forgetful / or elderly that wouldn’t think to save such account deatils – remember it was set up in store for her! Never was she told “Keep these safe”).

Took it back to EE this morning and was met with ‘I’m an Apple user, I know nothing about Samsungs’!!

Matt – quite correct that we’ve forgotten the details of the Google account but no option to set up new account.  Buggered, only option is to send off to Samsung with original receipt.

True, we should have known the account details but just shocking way to operate.  Now binned EE and on Vodaphone!  The phone is a door stop…

Won’t allow me to enter a new one.  Keeps coming up wrong email or not recognised etc  Entered my own account to try and get in that way but no cigar…

    There must be a way…

craigw – this is what I have been doing.  Then it goes into another screen after that and reboot selected.  When the phone fires up it goes into the Google sign in page (after agreeing to some licensing nonsense).  This is where it asks for the details of a Google account previoulsy used to sync with this phone.  We don’t know either the email address or pw

mike – seems it HAS to be the Google Account that was synched with that phone when set up. I simply can’t make enough progress into the phone to set up another account.

There must be another reset type option to try.  When the phone was first switched on it wouldn’t have had a Google account linked with it.  Now that it has (done by staff in EE shop) it seems that the phone is pretty much locked unless the email and pw for that account are known.

Thanks stumpy – that seems to confirm that we are indeed buggered!  Off to Samsung with it then.

Its annoying as I saw a google email address when I was playing around with the phone. However, the one that the guy had provided from the EE shop was completely different.

steelfreak – can’t seem to scroll past anything? Really don’t need any of the Google stuff and would be happy to do without – the buggers just seem to have control!!

I did wonder why spend the time and money fighting it when in his position but I’d do the same (in my position rather than his!).  Relatively simple process to overturn it – although not many of us get loaned Bentleys!  If it had been a standard hire car and a pleb, I doubt the hire car company would offer mcuh in the way of assistance in terms of dates received!

lego – that’s not making it any better!  The Slug wanted forks for himself, realised he’d bought crap off ebay and then palmed them off to a fellow STW user without full disclosure.

I do wonder reading Drac’s post up there a bit, that both have now been banned?  The inadvertant bit…
