Don’t worry Orange fans, lots of other bike firms are struggling, allegedly Forbidden, Niner, Cotic, Santa Cruz. The SRAM/Zyro suppliers haven’t helped allegedly by changing terms of payment for components from quarterly to a year, and upfront payment. The latter is certainly not going to help anyone.

Saw your link from NSMB, re Waltworks V2, your 4 th iteration of your Bird Zero is very similar to my stock Cotic Solaris Max gen4 with 130 Fox front end, running pretty much identical tyres, in terms of geometry and usage!!
The 29 er wheels IMHO have brought about a renaissance in hardtails, as the BB can be very low giving the ability to ride the bike like a “polo pony” off the pedals through the BB.

For those that truly suffer from sciatic nerve involvement ( or in my case L3/L4 Femoral nerve) this article and its related data on the BASS site is well worth reading.

Nicholai G 16 2017 can be built up as 29 er, 27.5, (155mm rear 175mm rear), or 29 front 27.5 back ( which apparently you would have to prize out of Chris Porters hands!!) Chainline (see below) also rates the 29/27.5 very highly.

look for long discussion (37 page ) on STW and contact “chainline” re options set ups etc, and can organise a demo

can be built light with non piggy back shock, and 34 s or Burly with X2 and 36s

Unique, rare, alloy and until you have ridden one then it is impossible to imagine how competent they are.

Cockpit will be as you want it seated, but the reach and front centre give one a very centralised position for descending, which until you get used to it is slightly strange.

The seat tubes are relatively short, so long droppers can be used, at 5,10″ I would ride a longer ( as a true 18 inch 460mm seat tube bike for me is almost too long to run a 150 reverb), 502 reach, but I think Chainline (same height) now rides an longest or even extra longest.

Have there been any definitive views as to the 2017 G16 pared with 29 front 27.5 rear yet?
Seems as though it could be the best of both worlds! ( if that is ever possible)
    Thanks in advance

Fractured talus 25 years ago needed bolt to sort, still have some pain if overflex it, too much stress if ski, but snowboard 3-10 weeks a year and ride full sus bike every 3 days when in UK, without many problems.
The worry with the talus bone is its blood supply, if compromised by a fracture, it can be catastrophic.
so take care with healing process.

Different does not necessarily mean better of course, and I would agree all bikes with bearings need changing probably more than most realise for optimum performance, BUT Often a 4 bar is actually functioning as a Single pivot as the chainstay bearing( very commonly ) is solid, without the owner noticing at all.

Turner bikes went from Horst pivot to chainstay pivot, and even the great and loyal aficionados of the Great Dave Turner struggled to tell the difference, so prob most folk riding bikes haven’t a clue. Fork and shock set up on any suspension design, along with tyre pressure probabably make more difference to the “feel” than the linkage design per se.
One thing for sure riding with the 50 to 01 boys, they couldn’t give a rats arse about the bike suspension designs, they could ride a shopping trolley better than most of us could ride a fully tricked up FS bike of any denomination!!

Strangely we have a lot of folk come in with a bike like Kilo’s wife’s Ibis claiming the bearings are fine, however when the bike is stripped, the bearings are shot!! And prob have been for some time, but of course the linkage is working great , NOT!!

So probable most multipivot bikes are working well below manufacturers claims, but most folk couldn’t tell anyway, so how they going to tell difference between a multi pivot, be it DW, VPP or an SP ?!!!!

Mediation if can and willing on both parties, lawyers seem to look at total assets and charge according,ie stupidly expensive and asking for details and clarification That is often unnecessary, but lots of letters later add up to huge bill.

For me at 5’10 I would choose a large, BUT the seat tube is almost 19 inches. So with dropper no where really to go with my leg length, 18 would have been better, or even 17 as present bike is with same reach/stack numbers

I had a day with CP and Chainline at the demo day at the Forrest of Dean and rode the Mojo geometron Medium (longer) I am 5’10, it was outrageous, for my height going from a 442 reach to 502 was staggeringly good. The reach is created by steep seat geometry, at my height it pushes the front of the bike 40 mm forward, but cockpit remains same size. Coupled with a slack 62 head angle, it flies downhill giving huge confidence. Uphill no problem as the long front centre and the steep seat angle combat any front end wandering.
And Yes you can wheelie it and manual it !! Kids can even manual beach cruisers, so its probably more technique than bike geometry!!
Until you ride one, to understand the combination of all the features, you can spend as much time on the web as you like, BUT it will not give you the full flavour of this bike!!

Have a look at. Facewest site. They usually have a resume of kit, light and strong, don’t by plastic shovel, transiever newer 3 channel one are better, but the best one is the one you know how to use!
Even better is go on a mountain awareness course and try to avoid the terrain that is dangerous
There are some excellent articles on Neil McNabs snowboarding site, he is one of the few high mountain and glacier, snowboard, ski and mountain climbing guides, a most excellent and charismatic tutor.

5’10 on a medium today , cockpit same as my medium Five in terms of length but massive increase in wheel base and reach.
Suspension set up was incredible and consequently grip was staggering.
The most amazing thing was, you just rode it, and never really thought about the bike!! It just did everything well.
One hell of a bike, deviant geometry …….hell yeah !!and it works.
Get out there and try one, the future is here already!!

weight wise Turner burner frame set is 7.1 lbs,
Carbon RFX frame is 6.7 lbs as is the new Evil Insurgent frame, both the latter are carbon, and no lighter than an equivalent Five frame.

The Segment is a great bike, it does need a good stiff front fork and a light strong wheel set to do it real justice, itt then becomes a long slack and low ripper.
For me on some seriously greasy single downhill tracks if it got away from me it felt a big bike (19) compared to my Mk 2 five (17) despite both bikes having same cockpit set up and wheel base.
