The “servo wave” system is just a Cam in the lever- I don’t think its anything special in the calliper. New deore callipers are about £24 each & should be compatible fitting wise with your existing hoses..

    Hose

The Banjo Bolt “should” come with the calliper if the picture is anything to go by, but worth checking before ordering..

Unless your bike has 142×12 dropouts then no.. I think the advantage of 142×12 over 135×12 was more down to making it easier to fit the wheel (as it slots into the dropout like a QR wheel would) rather than extra stiffness.

If you are going 1×10 & not planning on changing to 2×10, then why not get a zee mech? the shortest you can get a SLX mech is medium cage, which is more suited to a double.

Always wanted one of those- at that price its a steal, a full bike for less than a frame only price! Must resist..

If they are only 2 weeks old from new then a warranty job?

My mates meta 5.5 (2010 vintage) has a RP2 with a M/M tune, with a low volume can, so I don’t think the tune is the problem, maybe try volume adjust spacers if it has a high volume can on it..

Any bolts designed for a standard triple chain set will work fine.

I found the link on my KMC chain was very stiff to close- I set the bike on the ground, held the back wheel & pushed on the pedal, this generated enough chain tension to snap the link closed, I haven’t tried removing the link yet, but I suspect it would need a pair of masterlink pliers to take out.

    Shimano will be fine

This definitely threads into a nut on the other side? On my Blur XCc it threads into the link itself so it can’t be drifted through.

The 4x uses an older design- there is a internally threaded shaft that runs thru the seatstay end bearings, thru the swing link & the shock & is fastened at each end by a Allen head bolt & a pair of Alu reducers.

You are thwacking the shaft- which the snapped bolt in the middle is threaded into. I would suggest getting some heavy duty cable ties & securing the front triangle to the rear, this way it won’t all swing apart when you take the shaft out- makes it easier to put back together too.

    Quite!

Drift the shock axle / shaft out from the side with the broken bolt, it’s one price that runs thru the shock & the linkage. Then you can try & remove the broken bolt, otherwise its a new shaft time- its aviable as a spare from sc-£ 15 or so.

Nope, Shimano hubs are unconvertable as far as I know. And nope, hope kits don’t work on them.

If you are using it on a DW link bike you will need to get it retuned to a low compression tune.

How about these?Good quality, stiff even with a 15mm QR, lots of low speed damping & in your budget?

On my 2010 thors I usually have some LSC (albert select) on otherwise I get a bit too much brake dive, not much thou, usually a few clicks. But from what I have read the 2012 models have a less linear spring rate so will proably ramp up a bit earlier than the older models.

Magura thor- very stiff & the 2012 model is quite light too. Easy to maintain, plush & lots of LSC adjustment. The build quality on them is great, lots of little touches like the end of the stanctions is beveled so it’s easier to get the lowers back on without damaging the seals.

All the clutch type mechs- shimano shadow plus & SRAM type II mechs are 10 speed only, so you could have to change your cassette, shifter etc at the same time.
9 speed shimano & SRAM aren’t interchangeable, due to different cable pull ratios.

The SLX bashguard won’t fit on most cranks apart from the m665 cranks- the tabs on the cranks are narrower than most other chain sets and the tabs on the bash are longer. You could use single chainring bolts or fit another bash- however I would recommend getting the dedicated front mech for the m665 chainset if running it without the bash

I’m planning on heading out, depends how long it takes to change the tyre after ripping a sidewall yesterday, but as its ghetto tubeless-ed, it may just end up with alot of swearing and abandoning the job in favour of wine & mince pies!

Another recomendation for magura thors, I have a pair of the 2010 model, with a 20mm maxle (the 2012 models have a 15mm maxle) and they are seriously stiff, much more so than my 20mm maxle’d reba teams.

I know what ya mean mate, I find myself in a similar frame of mind at times, if you are the ST colin that is local to myself, feel free to drop me a line if you fancy heading out out for a no pressure bimble around the local spots, or just want to vent I’m usually about. I know from personal experience how difficult it can be to get out of that frame of mind, but it is possible.

I have a spare one, it’s from a blur classic with the original solid Alu swing link, not the newer ti or carbon one, say 10er posted? Don’t have spare tophats or bolts thou.

If its a brand new bike then I would be getting onto canyon- bearings shouldn’t be seizing with that little use, or it could be that the bolts weren’t thread locked with loctitie out of the workshop.

I ghetto tubelessed a 2.35 folding muddy Mary on a mavic en321, went up & seated very easily just using a track pump, although put far too much sealant in it.

I know Sunn use steel in a few of their FS bikes- the Charger, an enduro bike has a alu front triangle & a cromo back end, I think their downhill bike (the radical?) has a similar setup. On that note, does anyone actually sell Sunn bikes in the UK? Loving the look of the charger..

I quite like offshore windfarms at the moment as I’m making decent money from working on the installation process of em, off to do some more on tuesday.. But the rest of the time I’m doing work related to subsea oil fields, so gotta balance all me carbon out with renewable work! As for the eyesore aspect of them, I dont think they are too unsightly, even on land. Seen plenty more industrial process plants that look much worse, oil refineries for example.

I put some 10 speed zee stuff on me mates meta (11-36 cassette, shifter, mech) seems as well made as the 9 speed SLX stuff on my bike, although the shifter doesn’t seem as well sealed to the elements. It has multi release on the downshift. Shifting is crisp enough, I thought there would be more resistance with the clutch on than there was. Certainly seems much quieter at the back, the clutch stuff does seem to work as advertised.
