RC servo? they are usually PWM controlled, so should be easy enough to connect to an adruino, and usually have a decent enough of grunt for the size?

25 posts in and no-one has mentioned a Ibertal MC2? I’m disappointed in you STW..

For what its worth, I have the above grinder and a Sage Duo temp pro. I am a bit of an espresso head, perpetually chasing the “god shot”. I have tried a few machines from a Lidl 25£ special, to a Rocket Gitto Evolution Pro (costing something around 1500£) While the expensive machines (Dual boilers, HX machines etc) are great for making lots of milky drinks, as they can steam milk & make espresso at the same time, with the right beans and a good dialled in grind, the above combo makes espresso that is comparable to what I make on a mates setup (Baritza virtuoso grinder & Sage Dual boiler coffee machine) while I was assisting in dialing it in.

TLDR: Sage duo temp pro is a great wee machine. If you can stretch to it, the Barista express (with a built in grinder) is a good machine too. The only issue would be long term durability, while the Gagias, ranchilios etc are fairly simple in their construction, they are also easy to fix, which may not be true for the Sage machines.

PMR radios (motorola talkabout etc) operate on 8 EU wide resevered frequecies on the UHF band, around 446mhz. Max ERP (transmit power) is limited to .4 or .5 of a Watt. You can use these whereever you fancy, but of course, as its a widely shared frequency, chances are you will get talked over at some point. IF you want different fequencies, or more TX power, then you need a Buisness radio lisence from offcom, which will give you a futher 8 or 16 channels in the UHF band. These aren’t frequences lisenced exclusively to you however, and anyone else with the simple buisness radio lisence will have the same frequences.
You can of course use DCSS & CTSS codes to avoid receicving other transmisions on the same band, but it doesn’t solve the problem of interference. A resevered UHF frequency is also purchacable from offcom, but the price & avaiablilty will vary widely, depending on where you are in the country, as the UHF frequency is rather congested & used for other purposes than voice communication.

Keep an eye on Gumtree / Facebake marketplace, I got a Makita Class M vacuum with some crazy RRP for about 200£ off a tradesman who was replacing his 240v stuff with 110 for site work.. works great with the chop saw, sander, rail saw… Of course, I did have the akward conversation with the other 1/2, along the lines of you spent how much on a teal coloured vacuum cleaner.. But she was happy enough the reduction of dust when doing 12 door frames!

Depends how mouldy it is.. If its growing on the elements, you will never get it off completely- the mould will have pitted coatings, or in some extreme cases, the glass.

I would say 18T- I don’t think the 240s even come with the 36T ratchet as standard, seems to be about a 70£ upgrade by itself at the moment.

Marketing 101. Some people are ready and willing to have paid a premium price just so they have spent more than someone else.

Premium brands exist in every single market sector.

Leica isnt a traditional premium brand per sae, from about 1940-1980 they were very much a player in the profesional camera market, as the M-series RF cameras were popular among press photographers, photojournalists and the like. Most of the Magnum photographers favoured a Leica (Cartier bresson, et all) due to their compact size, durability & of course, Image quality. Indeed, Leica can almost be credited with inventing the compact camera, with the Leica 1, which was a pet project of a engineer at leica (when they mostly made microscopes & surveying equipment) who wanted a small camera that could use 35mm cine camera film.

Of course there are things Leica didn’t do so well- their film SLRs were mostly made on conjunction with other japanese camera makers, with the M-series remaining their pride & joy, made in small numbers with a price to match. Of course as news photography became increasingly digital, use of film died out, apart from with more traditional long term photohjournalstic projects. They were late into the digital game, with a digital back for one of their SLR cameras, the digital-modul-r for the R8, which of course was expensicve & didn’t sell too many. The digital M-series cameras are very nice, but with the leica price tag to match..

It largely depends on what Leica equipment you are buying- their lenses for m-series & their new SLR system are all hand made in Germany, which will drive up the price, as well as being considered to be some of the best lenses you can buy.. for their consumer digital cameras, they develop them alongside Panasonic, so perhaps a increase in price is down to the name.

Only in specific cases. I’m not a professional typist but it makes any odds.
Professional photography mostly existed because of technical and cost barriers that have long since gone.

    I don’t know about that..

Satellite broadband can be speedy- use it alot working offshore on a v-sat connection, but it’s eye-wateringly expensive, 11k € a month for 2 up, 2 down reserved bandwidth on the satellite.

Anyone Interested in a American classic lefty hub built on to a flow EX rim? Its the standard lefty hub (not supermax) and has a brake adapter so it can be used with the supermax lefty. Nothing wrong with it, I’m just a touch obsessive about the details & so am getting a new flow rim built onto a supermax hub.

I have 3cm between the bottom of the collar & the seat clamp with my 150mm lev. With the 100mm one I was on the min- insert mark. On a medium frame.

I haven’t bothered covering anything.. the direct mount covers are usually used as a HDM (mount) is usually a bit exposed with sharp (ish) edges that could catch on things, the one on the trigger is recessed & whatnot..

DT don’t do a supermax width hub- your choices are- Cannondale- cheap, if you can find one in stock, Project 321, relatively expensive -Acros / Chris king / tune -Very expensive.

The lefty hub on that actionsports.de link isn’t a supermax hub- so you would need to spend an extra 35£ on a new brake adapter, as well as the wheel not being as beefy as it can be- the supermax hubs at 10mm wider at the flanges.
