Been off the drink for 4 years. Now the absolute extreme, in the last 2 years only ever drank water, tea or coffee, no other liquid has passed my lips. And yes, I’m a miserable git!

Sorry, useless wrong word, correct she should have bought a warmer jacket :-)

I’ve had the Rab Generator for about 3 years, perfect, not too warm. Use it for walking the dog, shops, everything.
My wife has the Montane Prism, and she says it is useless, she is always cold in it! Does seem thinner than the Rab.

Well I got round in 5:28 in 499th. Fantastic event, met some great people.
Went over the bars at top of the first climb, pesky drainage channels!
PYG, I was just looking at the ground, forcing every step, but got there in the end.
    Landcruisers, no punctures or mechanicals.
Do I want to do again, yes!
Lighter bike, lower gearing, less crap in my pockets and more training for 2014.

Thanks for the advice, going to put the cage on and have a quick test of carrying. 2 x 750m bottles is still quite a bit of liquid. Crossjunkie says there is water at bottom of Whernside, and a guy lurking up PYG, so probably going to risk it.
This has just tipped me over the edge :-) http://3pcx.blogspot.co.uk/2013/09/the-final-10.html

A bit late in the day I know! Been for quick ride tonight with a Camelback and hated it.
Will 1 bottle on the frame and 1 in the back pocket be enough?
Can I actually refill at the water stop or is just a quick gulp?
Will I just lose my bottles!
Advice appreciated as I have no support.

Just read Rejecting Middle Age, Becoming One of the Worlds Fittest Men, and Discovering myself, by Rich Roll. Sounds like a Singletracker! Unreal what people can do.

Now onto Stephen King ‘Joyland’ which is great.

Glad I’m not the only one! What time does everyone usually get there? I’m heading down from Consett, don’t want to rush around, aiming for half 7. Should be plenty to get signed on etc…?

Under race info on 3 peaks website, posted on the 19th, it says ‘starters will receive a rider briefing by SportIdent email on Friday 20th September – please check your inboxes.’

I have not had an email, anyone else?

My first time, looking forward to it, but a bit scared as well. It is all I think about! New pads in, new tyres, all ready-ish.

Good write up on a few clinchers. Fancy the Clement myself with latex tubes.

Used the shop, excellent selection of stock. Some decent priced gear, got some half price Mavic shoes. Staff seemed helpful.

Really anal I know :) but I know this is going to be a struggle and want to minimise puncture risk. Got the Landcruisers. My existing inner tubes are Conti Cross 28, which are 25/35. Am I better going Conti Tour 28 which are 32/47, or something else, even latex?

First time here as well, just want to finish. Been running more than biking, up and down the local hill carrying the bike. Next 2 weeks going to have to ramp it up.
Got some new Mavic shoes with a bit more grip, bought my whistle and survival blanket!
Got the Landcruisers, now pondering which inner tubes?
Also which pads for my Tektro CR720’s?
Fingers crossed the weather stays as it is!

Had a brand new Mk5 R32 56 plate for 3 years, just loved the sound and brilliant grip in all weathers. Heavy front end and tyres & tax, ouch! Also had a Mk5 GTI, again a great car, bit more nimble, would not move in the snow. I’d buy an R32 tomorrow if I could afford to run it!

Going to get the Clement tyres, can’t find Michelin latex tubes in a large enough size, anyone point me in the right direction? I can only find the Challenge tubes which are a bit pricey!

The 2 below look decent? No idea of the weight of the Shimano option?

My 2005 Sworks, 105 Shimano wheels which have had it, need some money for some nice handbuilts.

Must admit, I’ve done PCP on the the last 4 cars, mainly for the comfort factor of reliability etc…My wife’s Polo agreement ends October, and was going to just get a similar vehicle at the same monthly cost, £226. Reading this, no idea what to do now! She will not want a shonker, does not even like the Polo as it is for old people :)

Just been on a 4 mile run, just had a baselayer underneath. About 4 degrees here, it is just warm enough without overheating. Nice fit and quite when moving, no sweat on the inside when I got back. Good bit of kit, and nice bright Orange. I’m 6ft.2 and 13 stone 8, large is spot on.

Ordered an Orange one, just what I was after for the bike and running. Fair price…

Suit for work. The rest of the time, slim fit jeans, skate shoes, t-shirt. Dressed like this since I was on the terraces at Roker Park, then skate, snowboards and bikes took over. Wife says I should grow up, my daughter says I’m a cool dad!

Just been in the garage doing this on my Shimano 105 Road Hub. Messed about for the last hour, so came in for a cuppa. Now I have the answer! Back out I go. Thanks.
