@spawnofyorkshire exactly what I was thinking, ideally you never wear it, but want it to be of use when required. Plenty of OMM Halo + at about £125 which seems good kit, favouring them at the moment.

Need to purchase a waterproof for mandatory kit for an upcoming ultra. Looked online at Innov8, Raidlight, OMM, Montane, Rab, the list is endless! Experiences appreciated!

Not looking at a laptop is a holiday! Early September I’m off to Chamonix on my motorbike for 10 days using Airbnb to walk run, cycle. Never been in Summer always winter. Coffee, cake, beer all sounds great. Beach holiday when kids were younger is also brilliant, mind you bit spoilt as only ever had a villa with our own pool. If we could not afford a villa, we stayed in the UK. Hence kids only been abroad 5/6 times as a family.

Heading out to Chamonix on the motorbike mid September. Looking at some running, shuffling, crawling for a few days:) Advice on how to find routes other than just following signs? Use other peoples Strava routes, guess I’d have to upgrade to a paid subscription, could I then uplaod to my Garmin? Help appreciated.

Gone and entered my first ultra of 35 miles, The Round Ripon Ultra. 10 weeks time, been a bit lazy of late, hence the entry to get some focus, out the door shortly so it’s worked!

Been charging super slow wireless on my Pixel 3xl for about a year. Just spent 5 minutes with a cocktail stick and now I have fast usb c charging again! Was about to buy a Pixel 6, thanks for the money saving :)

No idea of cost, but my sister in law does stuff near York. She seems to do some amazing fabrics.

I’m going over on my motorbike 31st of this month, heading to Spa for the 24 hour endurance racing. Coming back Calais though as costs were mental for the return!

@Lunge I’m struggling with the Adios 6, probably because I am too slow! Will retry as only done about 20 miles in them. I love the Floatride 3, done about 300 miles and been just a good solid shoe at a great price. Will get the 4’s soon to replace the 3. £52 quid with regular discount, cannot be had.

Ran every day in Feb, covering 115 miles. Had first few days of March off and did a 20 miler on Sunday. Legs were battered but managed a nice 5 mile walk Sunday. Back at it tonight, see how i feel. Allendale Challenge first weekend April, after that not sure what else to enter yet.

I went 2018 and loved it. I did it on my 1998 ZX9r, tent on the back and on my own. Left the North east Wednesday morning, in France by mid day and hammered down to Troyes for a hotel with a card machine at the door. I was battling round Nice sweating to death in all m gear, whilst flip flop wearing scooter riders flew past! Put the tent up and had a lovely cold beer or 2 watching practice. Pit walk Friday night is great and all the classic pits are open all the time. Tons of great views and fab atmosphere. Did nnot like the bikes bouncing of the rev limiter half an inch from my head in my tent. Noise cancelling headphones would be top. Campper vans seemed to be along the back of the mistral straight, seemed a bit calmer over there. I just blatted back to Troyes after the race Sunday, ferry mid morning and home Monday tea. 2000+ miles. I am intending to go to 24 hours of Spa long bank holiday weekend June, bit closer but colder.

Start Fitness LOVE10 gets 10% off at the moment. Just bought my first running pack, went for the Innov8 race ultra pro 5. Sick of looking at every review know to man on Salomon, OMM etc.. Hoping it serves me well for the Allendale Challenge and whatever else I sign up for.

11 year old Lab, always followed the only ‘Fish or fowl’ rule. Has a cup of Burns chicken & rice first thing and then another at 5, couple of Bonios middle of the day. Devours all ever single time(he is a lab!), and crap is exactly as it should be.

Sadly done for the year, due to walking into the corner of a stool yesterday and now my leg is shagged!
    784 miles
    125 runs
    137 hours
    64,245ft ascent

Not bad with 3 months out injured and then 4 months of trying to get going again. New Year, start afresh.

I’ve got the Dell Inspiron 24 5000 All-in-One had for a year and now has Windows 11. Quick, decent screen and replaced an old desktop Insiron I had for 15 years.

Used Barker & Stonehouse many times over the last 25 years. Usually good selection and quality has always been top notch.

Still have a 50″ Pioneer Plasma 507XD which is about 18 years old and was about the best of its time. Still a superb picture and will replace only when it packs up. The bezels are huge, so a 65″ probably would not really look any bigger.

New Alpkit Sierra looks decent? I have the Filoment which at least 5 years old and can recommend.

I also targeted 1000 miles, currently at 741 miles as of last night. Got some work to do in the next 2 months, but a good motivator. I do have the excuse of being wiped of my bike in June, so broken back, lacerated liver & broken ribs lost me 3 months and still tryingo get my mojo back.

Don’t have a thermostat, so yes mine is either off or on. I sit cold on my own all day WFH, and then put on late afternoon to avoid the every day comment ‘This house is freezing’ from my wifes return from work :)

So, how much a month are we all working towards needing? I would say once mortgage gone, gas/leccy/water/council tax/mobile/tv/broadband/modest car/insurances that is £800 per month for a couple. £1,200 to £1,500 for a reasonable life? 2k, I dont know, no wonder people are confused. Totally understand everyone has a different definition to reasonable.

I’m 52, with WFH for 18 months. Endless Zoom calls, I just drop to the floor and do various press ups/sits ups throughout the day, before you know it 200 boxed off Biggest benefit to me is calf raises stood at my desk. Every little helps.

MPOW M30 £26 on Amazon, had mine a year and pretty unreal for the money. Used loads for running, usually just the one ear, decent sound etc…

Been a lack of shoe talk for a while! Made use of the August bank holiday offers, bought Reebok Floatride Energy 3 for £50, nice and comfy for longer run. Also Adidas Adizero Adios 6 for quciker runs 72 quid, felt really strange underfoot, may need to adjust my footstrike, wait and see.

Coming back from 12 weeks of nothing after my bike accident where I fractured my back. Been doing a few 3 mile runs, did a 7 miler and so far so good other than sore back afterwards. Back has healed, just the tissue damage causing the ache. Just trying to get consistency going again, not looking forward to the nights drawing in!

Thanks all for the well wishes. Just to clarify I was hit from behind, clear open road, broad daylight, sun behind us so nothing to affect his view. Police mentioned at scene he said he was reaching down for a water bottle,he should have seen me well before so yes possible phone use. He is also local so would know that road very well. Police are calling me at the weekend.
Just checked bike, rear derailier knocked off, rear wheel buckled, It is a carbon frame and seems to have a crack on the underside of top tube, not skilled enough to know if structural or just the paint. I have his insurers details from the police, I’m sure I just have my bike on the contents cover, so not sure what I do now? Help appreciated.
