how much did you try to get for it (out of interest) those frames are lurvly and can’t quite believe no one wanted it…
why is it surplus? did you not get on with it or just got something better?
always liked those frames just can’t see the justification (for me) over a steel HT.

    blimey im nosey!!

as im now panicking ive bought a frame that going to be too big to chuck around i’ve just been comparing the specs of the 16″ 456 and the medium PA, not too much difference by the looks of it, only .6 of an inch in the effective TT and everything else pretty much the same, is that really gonna make that much difference..?

<awaits the all knowing stw massive to tell me im wrong and it’ll make a huge difference>

heard a radio interview with him a while back and he is a trained theatre actor, he also said he didn’t really like doing the hardest idiots type programs but they pay his bills while he concentrates on his Thespian type work…

he does come across as a nob though on the programs.

damn…just ordered a medium PA off of here im 5’9″ so now thinking it could be a wee bit on the big side!!
also riding a 16″ 456 and that fits perfect as its pretty much chuckable.

anyone riding a medium who is around my size think that its ok for thrashing around on?

ouch indeed, i had a looksie at that before they put the ladder into it, its pretty big, and i’ll never ever do it, but when yr young you tend to bounce better, glad he’s ok..

mate its a 5min job that any numpty can do.
deflate and remove the shock and fitting kit put a rag through the eyelet (stops aircan flying off and hurting you). using a strap wrench undo the aircan <pop> replace/reuse the seals and do back up, pump up and your done.

£80 for this is throwing your money down the drain

he is 3yrs and 4months, but is well small for his age hence waiting until now to upgrade his rothan. but as you can see his balance is very good on the bike, i got him a rothan at 2yrs but he wass too small and didnt touch it untill he was 2 1/2.
i really didnt think he’d get it this quick, its only the stopping/starting thats hard as his legs are too short by a few cm’s to reach the floor but that’ll change soon i hope!!

my 15month old has been walking around on the rothan today so i reckon he’ll get it quicker and he has longer (read normal!!) sized legs

renton, as i mentioned earlier i twisted a few chains, if its doing it very often then it’ll be worth your while just checking over the chain and making sure there aren’t any twisted links as this’ll really make it suck like the whore you describe, my current chain has 3 power links from a ride a few weeks ago.

oh and its strange that my components came off my heckler on which i never ever got any problems (still prefer the 456 tho!!)

no drive at fault on my bike though..?

checked my rear mech and its pretty much a short cage but not a roadie mech, so i think i may take an extra link out (although i reckon my chain length is ok) to see if it helps any, failing that i may do the g clamp thing, how exactly do i achieve this without wrecking my frame? i assume you support the stays by wedging a bit of wood between them then belt the shite out of the stay untill a dent appears..? or wind the g clamp in till it starts to compress the metal (probably neater i guess!!)

shaman…a front mech wouldn’t cause CS.

i have 5 bikes, one lube for all of them, only one bike gets chainsuck..not the lube then, and as its a popular lube then surely thousands of people would be getting it and then no one would buy it..?
my 456 is also my favourite bike (just sold my heckler as it didn’t get a look in) but this is getting to me a bit now.

normally when shifting down to the granny (note not under load, and normally when it does i can pre empt it and stop it going all the way through) but has happened in middle ring for no apparent reason (and i’ve bent several chains), would a shorter cage mech sort that out then?

    carlphillips

brant, i have a lot of issues with chainsuck on my 456, replaced all drivechain chain is pretty short, lube is finishline green and new so not sticky (and no probs on any of my other bikes, 1st ride out fekkin chainsuck, my stay is pretty furked now, so im not sure its down to maintenance, and as for correct shifting i’ve no problems on any other bike ever..?
i love the 456, but the chainsuck is getting annoying and there doesnt seem to be any common denominator…?

maybe its time to break out the g clamp

yeah zippy if yo uphone them up and speak to the bloke he’ll help out, they do two tools one is a very expensive workshop tool and the other is for light use and this is the one they do the deal on, either way its a good deal, i replace mates bearings for them and just charge them what i paid for the bearings hence a nice free tool and they get cheap bb replacements everybody wins.
i stand by my comments about the SSC cups being much easier to replace though so its worth considering although the original bearings i got with mine only lasted two rides..?

    carlphillips
    Free Member

do a search looaads of threads on here about it, personally i’d go the SSC cups route as the bearings are dead easy to drift out with a socket so when they go its only a cheap replacement from your local bearing co and off you go again with the minimal fuss and cost, i have a bearing puller for shitmano cups so its easy for me whichever cups i use, i got 5 sets of bearings and the tool free from BETD.
