im not sure what this ‘breaking in’ thing you talk about. ive used a few sets of different makes and never ever ‘break them in’ i just fit them and they work straight away, always, also while i think about it i hardly go through pads either like some people do on here (1-2 rides WTF?)

someone in our year used these (MBT’s) as a basis for their dissertation..they looked like ‘special’ shoes….

she overtook you…she then got fed up with you staring at her arse so slowed down, you overake she gets peed off waiting for you so overtakes, you speed up so you can perv her arse again….repeat until lap ends.

NZcol, he has a point to a certain degree and a lot of orthotics are prescribed inappropriately and can just take over from normal functioning feet, but they have their place where indicated, just as stretches/strengthening exercises have their place.

being someone who works with feet alignment problems daily, orthotics certainly aren’t the work of the devil..!!

as much as you will get people saying yes its this and that its no substitute for someone looking at it in the flesh and being able to take everything into account.
if you are worried then go get it checked by a podiatrist or physio.

ah wierd see the way i was trained i’d start at the bottom and work up, check foot alignment and then see how its affecting the rest.
micro tearing of the tendon wont necessarily give you huge amounts of obvious swelling but will give you pain.

also ITB can be an overuse injury so maybe your overdoing things..?

deffo get a 2nd opinion, and mayve go see a podiatrist for a 3rd opinion on the feet affecting your problem. good luck mate

they weren’t ruined, just marked is all which is why i said they would’ve been ruined, jeez this is all a bit childish eh why try to pick holes in my post.

hang on while i find the evidence of my alleged enduro seal usage m’lud

    EDIT: can’t find any photos.

I am just trying to be helpful, and give you the benefit of my experience, if you dont believe me and want to sort ‘theh wheat from the chaff (WTF?) then fine its no skin off my nose, buy the **** seals and make your own mind up.

‘will therefore let less stuff in’

but it will let stuff in, then see your stanchions wear prematurely.

tosh? i think not…fact, i think so as it happened to mine.

garlic, its a bit strong to say im talking shite when all im doing is trying to let you know of my experience
    look here

    carlphillips

i can argue with that as i had some!!

why put something hard next to the stanchions,it doesn’t make any sense.

and no flex in stanchions = scratches/premature wear when dirt does ingress(and it will)

im not speculating, just trying to offer you the benefit of my experience.

FWIW i did get some marking on my stanchions.

the enduro ones i got for my revs were rubbish, confusingly made from really hard plastic, one bit of grit in there and stanchions would’ve been ruined.

my advice would be to stick with the original seals for replacing.

shimano lx is all you will ever need, i have juicy ultimates on another bike but the shimano brakes easily compete and are a bargain on merlin.

all my other bikes have the lx’s simply top quality.

firstly just go and get yourself assessed, if you have a tight triceps surae complex then proper stretches done properly will help and maybe a heel raise inserted into your shoe to take the pressure off the tendon whilst you continue to walk around for a few weeks may help you heal quicker, but without seeing it etc etc its all codswallop go see someone.
oh and brufen and paracetomol for the pain/swelling if you are able to take them.

dont run until you are fully healed

even given the cheap price of the weekend, the facilities were not good imo, toilets a disgrace (you try taking your 3yr old for a dump in there…not a pleasant or easy experience to come out clean) and 6 showers for all is not nearly enough, we were very lucky with the weather, had it been raining that field would’ve been a nightmare.

that aside, the weekend was good although for some reason i expected it to be a bigger event, the course (marathon) was 50/50 imo, the start was a mare i got stuck behind 100 people and none of whom it seemed could cycle uphill, hence the 1st uphill was spent walking and getting pissed off, the next part was all uphill fireroad slog in the burning sun which i hated, then it all of a sudden got a lot better with some ace descents and lovely singletrack to finish.

oh yeah the pasta party was ace….not.

not sure if i’ll go back next year or not.

used mine at the welsh weekend, spoke snapped off at the nipple just before the end of the 1st lap…(a re-occurring problem of my mates epic which has prompted a re lace under warranty)

rear shock is now starting to clunk yet again, forks pi$$ing oil.

its going back today again, the thing is i really like the bike when it works but you just can’t trust it to not break down, i certainly wouldn’t take it abroad.

if i could i’d get a refund and buy another bike but the thing is 10months old now, i’ll still try today though.
