that looks absolutely ok to fix, as already mentioned above the clearance hole will allow for a tap.

they still don't mind the DH stuff built there, but all the other xc trails are out of bounds now with logs laid everywhere to stop us using them. shame really.

i wouldn't recommend cann woods as a venue from exeter. at the moment many of the unofficial xc trails have been blocked by an enthusiastic FC volunteer who seems to take great pleasure in doing this…
he has also taken to wandering around at night on the off chance he meets an mtber…a sad situation indeed.

so its boring fireroad stuff there or dh madness. (unless you know the cheeky stuff on the other side)

also as of the anount of rain recently id avoid haldon also(again unless you know the cheeky stuff as the new route is boring imo), woodbury is a good wet ride though imo

GW its both shock mount on frame and linkage holes threaded, (not me that did it it was a mate with big pudgy farmers hands!!)

just got back from local engineering firm, very nice chaps and the guy is an mtber, cant find nut insert that would suit so is going to helicoil and see how we go. i guess if it screws up (sorry couldn't resist!) then just fill in with weld and re tap.

gutted about the inserts though, local fastener company didnt come up with anything just the rivnut type which wont suit, may dremmel a nyloc down just for belt and braces.

can't do wurth timeserts due to not enough depth of material, apparently need around 11mm whereas i have 8mm, gonna do the tour of local engineering firms this morning in the rain looking for someone to sort it out….

thanks for all your answers, food for thought there.

i was simply looking for something like a rivnut but without the squeezing property (like a chain ring nut insert). ie i just want to screw into it without it gripping anything.

i'll look into the timesert thingy, if i can't find anyone then it'll be a helicoil from my local engineering firm,

boo all i wanted to do was fit one and get it done…

to play devils advocate i was walking on a cycle path with my dog and my 3 yr old was riding his bike, some idiot biker thought it was ok to come speeding through us without warning (shouting/bell etc)and nearly took out both dog and son, whenever im riding said path i slow up near dogs/walkers/kids as all are unpredictable and all have a right to be there enjoying the outside.

try to affiliate yourself with your local hippy/health food shop, my local shop does loads of trade for their 'therapists'.
also try not to make it sound like quackery, as a medical type some of the ads ive seen in the shop make me pi$$ myself.

haldon red route, used to be techy now is a flat featureless beginners path.
give them (the builders/FC) their due its route through the forest is a lot better thought out but its just dull dull dull.
oh and bits are washed away even though the trails is just a few weeks old 🙁

yeah I know its hard to bend one, and its why I'm now thinking its more the drop out really…hoping its really not though after just getting my rear wheel dished for the back end yesterday 😥

    carlphillips
    Free Member

rickos, maybe, the drop out that is ovalised is pretty much messed up mate, making insertion/removal of the axle very difficult also the rear wheel is slightly out of alignment, i'm hoping that this isnt the propblem, cos if it is it'll be new swingarm time and i'm sure i don't want to pay out for one, i havent been able to use it yet!!!

if the drop out/swingarm is goosed i'll get in touch. my local dale dealer is going to take a looksie at it.

sola, one end is ovalised i think so i doubt that would work unfortunately.

clubber when you open them up how do you then secure them in?.

on my 456 (which is superb btw)i just took the hose out and was careful and the brake didn't even need a rebleed.
