ooh my favourite thing to dig out of peoples feet is ingrowing hairs…I see a few come into clinic with this, mainly hairdressers and the odd dog owner…

    splinters are fun too…

remove the tape, fit the yellow stuff as per stans video, put tyre on and remove core inflate hopefully with track pump to seal bead, delflate, squirt the fluid in through valve, inflate to 30 psi,put core back in shake it about and all good

    that order is besterist.
    edit: forgot soapy water

i dislike the stans kits, the rubber strip sometimes unseats itself when you change tyres, tape is far better and cheaper too imo

never needed patience, just as easy as replacing a tube IME.

i had a thorn in my leg that looked like that for ages, poked squeezed etc nothing came out but it wouldnt heal up…went at it with a scalpel and some vicious squeezing and out popped the thorn, thought it was a bite at first.
yours looks identical, and a tad infected judging by the surrounding erythema.

gaffer tape is adequate/good, there is a decent article on it on pinkbike,
thorny punctures will become a thing of the past..

@shermer what buses are you thinking of?

there isnt a great deal serving dartmoor and princetown is about as big as it gets on’t moor…if you want transport links then look closer to ivybridge, tavistock, bovey tracy or oke…

afaik there is a bus to princetown.

you can walk from oke to princetown in a day, then carry on to ivybridge the next day completing the dartmoor north to south, Ive done it a few times, its a nice walk.

I’ve got sektors on my 5.
they are nice and (relatively) cheap, good damping upgrades available cheaply too from loco et al..

I run one on my 5, its good once you space it out properly, quiet and safe.
had major issues with it in the alps on my 224 though…which is where i learned to space it out proper like..

we had fireboard put behind ours then some kind of plaster skimmed over that resists cracking with heat(i think, it may be normal plaster for all i know!)? but, for all the precautions even when the stove has been on all day the plasterboard behind the stove (and to the sides)is cool to the touch.

@twin, surely you could have done the spacer yourself..it takes all of 3 mins to that job? you don’t even have to take the shock off the bike!
