4 or 5 weeks of taking it steady it's fairly common injury.

Ruptured my patellar tendon(the big one between kneecap and shin) 13 years ago , spent 4 1/2 months in plaster/on crutches then had a 2nd op at 6 months to remove the wire they put in and spent another 4 weeks on the sticks , give me broken bones every time extensive soft tissue damage takes too long to heal.

I think it's down to wether your particular postie is prepared to go the extra mile , programmes like 'Despatches' will never show the efficient side as it just doesn't make good telly.

I get 2 or 3 items daily that are addressed to either the wrong house number or even the wrong street but having been on the same round for 12 years am on first name terms with most of my customers so can put things right.

I think the 5/6 mm refers to the hose diameter , newer hope brakes use 5mm hose whereas the original mini used 6mm . you can use either with the brake but need the correct connections at either end.

If Trevor doesn't have a straight connector then I've one you can have.

The main difference is that nowadays, they don't force left handed children to write right-handed, which was a major cause of stammering.

Was it really? Not doubting you, but that's really interesting if it's true.

that is interesting , my brother in law who I've also been mates with since 9 years old (my little sister always had a crush) is a left hooker and also stammers , I wonder if being forced to use his right hand as an infant could be the cause?

halfrauds round here only seem to do it in a huge size @ £10.99 for 1 litre.

You could have a brake bleeding party?

    Seriously??

all that would happen is an extra 1.5mm of the pad surface would remain unused on the new system , you could probably remove 1mm of spacers if the brakes are on post mount to bring the calipers down to bite more of the rotor.

If thats a rear on a 145mm rotor and you fancy a swap for a 165mm then let me know cos I'm after a downsize on the back brake.

When I was at school there was a lad who's handwriting was so bad it even made mine look neat , for a joke when we had 5 minutes left at the end of the lesson the teacher suggested that everyone should try to write with their opposite hand. This lads writing went from barely legible drunken spider to nearly the neatest in the class !

I think too many teachers just assumed that everyone was right handed and automatically forced pens into that hand . The lad in question never started using his left hand as by the time he tried it he was too used to using the right.

This isn't an actual pic of my bike , but courtesy of some compo it was one of these beauties , in fact it was my first bike with any suspension at all. I went from a fully rigid M-Trax Raliegh to GT's 1999 flagship mtb :D

Bought new for half price @£1900 in 2001

if you can wait longer then leave it so the auctions finish just before the end of the month , people tend to bid a bit more when they're expecting a wage.

They're only on offer for the next 11 days !

Where did I say anything about keeping them unskilled and unemployable? , what I said was if they can see other childrens parents having to pay for school trips/workshops ect and they get it for free then they are probably more likely to rely on that state aid from a much earlier age and get the (lazy) mindset ingrained.

And 'subsidising chav kids' reduces the chances of them becoming chav grown ups.

I disagree with that , it's more likely to make them think they can continue being subsidised for the rest of their lives.

any reason to not buy a centrelock to 6 bolt adaptor? assuming you already have a 6 bolt rotor you could use that is.

We've got a small parrot(blue headed conure) that should live to be around 35-40 , my wife's parents bought it for her 18th.He's coming up to 22 now and noticeably sleeeps a lot more than when he was younger.

I'd guess your friends parrot is a bit scared of his new surroundings and probably just needs some space to settle in , make sure they talk to him in a very gentle voice and make sure there's plenty of fresh water/food/treats and toys to keep him occupied.

headshoks are reasonably easy to service as long as your methodical.

when we bought mrscarlos f700 we got an invite to a 'how to' overhaul headshok forks evening at leisure lakes and were most surprised at how little there is to do.

@ carlos – that must have been an awful situation for you but you have done very well to have come through it.

I was more angry with mum at the time and we didn't speak for nearly 10 months , but I've got skin thicker than a rhino and am extremly hard to offend. I'm very lucky now to be in a very secure and loving relationship and with my own young family , to be honest I try not to concern myself too much with things that happen outside of it.

I'm 40 this year but came at this from the other side , got kicked out at 17 as in mums words 'me and berni are getting married and I don't think you 2 will get on living together'.

My dad was unable to help as he was re-married with 2 young children in a 2 bed house so my dad's mate who worked in the council at housing pulled a few strings and got me a flat , all was well till I turned 18 and got a credit card! I think you can guess the rest.

18 months later I'm up to my eyeballs in debt and about to be kicked out of the council flat. Mum bailed me out to the tune of £1500 not a lot by todays standards but a small fortune to me then. I moved back home under the proviso that I would pay 25% of everything except the mortgage and do a fair share of household chores i.e. I was paying my way and not being kept apart from the roof over my head.

i got a part time pub job on top of my normal job and paid mum back everything in 6 months then 4 months after that got my firts mortgage with my girlfriend(who's now my wife)

As long as you're son understands it's not a holiday camp you should be fine.

I was in a supermarket at the checkout with carlos jnr and earwigging 2 new mums , 1 said to the other 'how you feeling it's so tiring isn't it' , 'ooh yes I'm absolutley knackered' .

Obviously I felt obliged to let them know that they were in the honeymoon period and once their children were upright and walking then they would learn what tired means!!

I somehow doubt the bosses of RM are quite the kind of people most of the workers would want in charge…

Statements issued by government ministers last year also agree with this statement

If The vote is a yes then in real terms I stand to lose about £25-£30 per week and it will take 3-5 years before I start to acheive my current wages!

essentially the money I would lose is what I currently put into my savings acount each week to help towards family holidays/days out/weekends biking. So it will be a complete change in my life , of course I could always do some overtime to make it up but I'm already knackered when my round is finished (hardly ever any early finishes on my round) and couldn't contemplate working longer.

I have no doubt that the posties who can't see further than the bonuses will vote this in , even though the majority of the bonuses mentioned in the agreement were already due to us via the employee colleague shares but they all of a sudden seem to be tied into this new agreement/fiasco

and we the public are asked for our support when the post office staff go on strike!,give us a royal standard of service and we might give that support until then whistle for it!.

not all areas of Royal Mail are bad , current targets are extremely high but are very nearly being acheived , in order to receive your 'royal standard' would you be prepared to pay a royal price??

We used a Weeride crossbar mounting seat for carlos jnr , whilst they're pretty good they do restrict pedaling a little bit but put your child in a great position to see whats going on and let you talk to them.

The main problem with it is if jnr wants to sleep , we did the Camel trail in Cornwall 2 years ago and had to tie Luke to the seat to stop the bike over balancing as he lolled about. We also had to drill 2 new holes in the crossbar so it could be fitted to mrs carlos xs Cannondale.

Surely if your a solider and die whilst fighting as part of your job then no it's not tragic. If you sign up then you do so in the full knowledge that it is your job to fight wherever your country decides to send you and you could be killed doing so.

Your family, friends and general public should be proud that you gave your life for them. IMO.
