Have a look on polimil.co.uk I’ve found them to be one of the cheapest places for Oakley over the years. They don’t usually have a great frame/ lens colour choice but the prices are very good.

Half a mouthful of petrol and a zippo = untrained fire breather me.

I ran out of breath while there was fuel left and breathed in !! Luckily I had plenty of mates round me to put me out  .

Plenty of other stuff but that was probably one of the worst.

CRC have some dual ring E13 chain guides on sale for under £20 at the moment , would probably work on a single ring OK too (maybe change the roller?)

I was a late starter with cars.

27 and it was a Burgundy 1.7 diesel Peugeot 305(the one with a hatch not a boot).

To date I have never owned an exciting/fast car and I drive like an old man!

Passed my bike test at 17 though and got my thrills on 2 wheels.

    Was working on Saturday.

Sunday up early made pancakes with strawberries for the family then got stuck into the garden that has been neglected since last year , trimmed the grass front and rear ant the hedges too. Took my eldest son to see the new Avengers film (liked it , nice twist) .

Today we all went for a steam train ride , had a walk in a wood that was awash with bluebells , did the shopping and just had a barbeque and a few beers feeling a bit tiddly and it’s my turn to read the little un stories.

All in all a good weekend but no bikes :-(.

About 200 yards to the local woodland . Plenty of rocky/rooty single track with technical climbs and descents, there’s a disused quarry in there too but I’ve struggled to put anything decent together in there.

Get this a lot up there anyway.I last went up about a month ago and got to the carpark about 20 mins before my mate , myself and a dog walker spent 10 minutes or so just picking random rubbish up that was dumped there despite a bin being available.

I had a Carnac helmet years ago , when I landed on my head after an rtc it had a crack most of the way down the centre apart from about 1″ either end but my head didn’t. I’d have another one.

OP , if you have the old one the send them then BETD will make bespoke hangers. They offered when I bust one on my Kewee cromo8 but already did one that would fit.

Saw this happen about 40 years ago , our family were out early on a Sunday going to a swimming baths when the car in front of us went to overtake the car in front but clipped the rear corner as it started the manoeuvre. The car it clipped was an Austin Princess ,it just rose up on its front end bounced on its roof and back onto its wheels . Luckily the people in the car were wearing belt even though it wasn’t compulsory back then .

The car that caused the accident tried to do a runner but my dad chased them down (tweaked V6 engine/petrol head dad) and suggested it would be a good idea to go back. Everyone was OK just a bit shook up.

Its a weird thing to see like everything goes into slow motion.

OP , if you fancy an FS with lockout at both ends instead I have this at my house. This was my friends bike that I have stripped to sell for his family as he recently passed away due to aggressive kidney cancer.

The bike was always well looked after with no expense spared in its upkeep , he was always a bit of a weight weenie and I’d have it myself if funds allowed.

    16st 2lb ,Overweight and I know it.

32.4 on the BMI scale (obese)

47 ,  5’10” , 36″ waist , 47″ chest. I walk 10-12 miles every work day and ride at least a couple of times a week off road. I feel fairly fit but just enjoy my home cooked meals a bit more than I should. Ideally I’d like to get down to 15 stone and I’m half heatedly trying to cut back . The BMI scale reckons I should be a maximum of 12st4lb , I weighed that when I was playing rugby at 16 years old.

Not cheap (we got them half price via Amazon treasure truck) but they’re amazing headphones . We bought them mainly for my youngest who has a few sensory issues , but we keep finding them in his older brothers bedroom.

From that list the bread and chocolate digestives(but Aldi ones as they’re nicer than Mcvities).

Due to Mrscarlos having a list of allergies longer than my armspan we make most meals from scratch , the food we make is healthy enough but our portion size needs more attention if we want to get rid of our contented bellies.

Hi , tightwad Yorkshireman here. I’m at the stage where if it bolts onto the outside of the engine (filters ect) or is a suspension part (bushings, springs ect) then I do it myself.

Three weeks ago I sat in the snow replacing the front wishbone bushes , taper balljoints and front and rear droplinks on my mk2 CRV. It was bloody freezing but probably saved me over £200 in labour costs. On my last car I even replaced the clutch as the it wasn’t worth what a garage would charge to do it for me.

As above a Haynes manual is useful as is YouTube and some decent tools, it’s just a pain sometimes undoing nuts and bolts that have been attached and not loosened in 7-8 years plus but as long as you’re methodical most jobs are fairly easy with the right tools.

Nothing to add to your situation other than I hope you can sort it out.

Regarding the original question , I find myself in the lucky situation to be in a relationship/married to quite possibly the most laid back woman in the world and as such I can count the number of arguments we’ve had in the last 30 years on one hand.

We had 15 years of us time before kids arrived on the scene , she loves cycling almost as much as me , we have very similar music tastes and although we aren’t exactly flush due to only having one wage coming in are happy with our lot in life. I think the fact we were just good mates for 18 months before getting together (everyone else thought something was going on but it wasn’t)has really helped the way we are with each other.

Cinnamon_girl , the cup is lasting very well no signs of wear but it is made from a fairly heavy duty plastic. I wash the cup more or less as soon as I’ve finished it so it doesn’t get stained , the people working in the shop often remark that some customers don’t seem to wash theirs out at all

The only place open to buy a coffee when I start work is the place a lot of STW users love to put down.

Gregg’s opens at 6.30am and I start just after ,the cup was £2 and as per the OP’s suggestion it comes with a free coffee you then get 10p of a refill. Not adding to landfill anymore with my morning coffee feels like a step in the right direction.

I like Antur, would echo the above comments regarding trail grading . The black is my favourite run there as it still fairly flowy if you stay loose and you don’t have to try too hard unlike the double black.

DH tyres and tubes are order of the day and a couple of extra psi in them wouldn’t go amiss. I managed to snap my mech hanger last visit (2nd run) and had to spend the rest of the day freewheeling down.

My youngest son goes to a Beaver group that until recently had an autistic lad attending , the leaders and volunteers persevered for months trying to deal with his issues but were seriously struggling.

The lad himself was very aggressive towards all the other Beavers and eventually the group leader had to ask that one of his parents be present at meetings in order that they could get on with the activities. His parents have removed him from the group as (in their words) ‘it’s too much trouble’ , shame for the lad but the group all seem to be enjoying the sessions a lot more now they aren’t being walloped all the time.

What richardkennerley let said , we bought a 100ft one . Takes up much less room than the rubber one it replaced.

I work from a Leeds office , Wednesday to Friday we were on damage limitation taking some but not all of the mail , my work partner and I managed to get cleared on Saturday but we have been told to expect the next week to be much busier.

I’m not a big overtime worker ever so it’s looking like we’ll be leaving sections next week too , I’d rather be at home with my kids!

Used one for both my children , the eldest loved it . We did the entire ‘Camel Trail’ out and back with it (about 40 miles) as mentioned you do have to ride a little bow legged but its not really much of a problem you’re hardly likely to be hammering about with your precious cargo. My youngest however hated it with a passion and used to steer for you/pull brakes and try to put his feet into the front spokes.

I had to alter the frame bar so it would fit Mrscarlos XS Cannondale , When I sold it on ebay Weeride contacted me about the alteration and adjusted their own design to fit frames with shorter top tubes (and sent the buyer a new bar) The ‘Dale also needed longer bolts to fit the larger diameter head tube.

When I was a kid we used to sneak round the back of asda and rob the heavy duty plastic shrink wraps that held palleted goods together from their waste bins . We could get about 15 of us on at once ,a proper blast.

I’m a postie in Leeds, we got sent out and the (not) well maintained van decided its battery didn’t have enough juice to get things going again after the first loop. It took the manager an hour to get a van out to us so we took nearly a full duty back.

Have a Costco card (or know someone who does) ? We got some new beans last week , San Francisco Bay organic rainforest blend and we think its really nice . It’s strong without being bitter , we try not to hammer coffee usually but we’ve nearly finished a 2lb bag already. It cost about £9 for the bag.

Had mine done 5 1/2 years ago , apart from the old chap n his 2 mates going a lovely shade of purple for 2 weeks all was fine. Admittedly I sat on my backside and did sod all for the first 9 days. Worst part of the entire procedure was the extremely attractive nurse holding the end of me while she painted everything with iodine :-D

I have used Wahl in the past but my hair(that’s still growing) must be like wire as I wore 3 sets out over 15 years . My brother in law bought me a set of cordless Phillips clippers for a birthday pressie 4 years ago and they’re still good to go. The head rotates to comfy angles and cuts well , I can’t comment on the clips for altering the length of cut as I’ve never used them. Currently £35 on Amazon.

My son and I built up an XS Spesh Hard rock frame last year . Paid £20 for the frame but luckily had nearly everything else in my spares box (a further £35 on seat post/chain/cables) the bike is about 23lb but due to some really nice bits on it he has to use a cheap BMX for school.

My personal favourite Oakley’s are a 20+ year old pair of 1st generation straight jackets , plain black with a gold iridium lens . Like em so much I bought a flashier pair with a flame design and fire iridium lens that I hardly wear. Quite like the half jacket XLJ’s that I have too with photochromic  lens .

Going through this with one of my main bike buddies now, as with the OP hardly drinks never smoked apart from a very occasional ahem herbal cigarette , at the gym a few times a week.

Then boom at the beginning of October diagnosed with kidney cancer and 3 visible secondaries in his lungs. He had the kidney removed and started chemo after 4 weeks recovery but it hasn’t really helped and he has more secondaries and a palliative care nurse.

I’m seeing him quite a lot and just being normal but within five minutes of leaving I’m in bits it just seems so unfair . Not helpful to you OP but just be there for him and his family. Best of luck.

OP , you’ve been used to a Chinese phone (probably where all the big brands have theirs assembled anyway) how about a Black view BV series phone .

The latest is a BV9000 and can be had for around £350 on Amazon or cheaper of you go through Gearbest or one of the other Chinese sites. I’ve been using a BV6000 for nearly 2 years and it’s the only phone I haven’t managed to break for the last 10/12 years.
