Not had any problems in stripping and re-building it really, just a bit of a faff. I’ll have to give Fisher a ring tomorrow

Not got the e-vent but I do have both the Stealth and Gridlock, got a Large in both jackets even though their sizing suggests Medium. They felt a little restrictive around the shoulders and armpit areas.

Get onto bikemaps.co.uk for maps and routes ready to ride in The Peak and others. Nicely detailed, easy to read, written instructions on the rear, offers several routes and alternatives if you want to link up bits and you don’t have to be able to read an OS map.

Macc forest for a blast after work but not worth the trip from North Wales IMO

I hear what your all saying about restricting the frame choice to the BB, but it’s not my money and I’m just trying to help a friend find the cheapest option of getting a frame in the correct size for him. Maybe he’ll dig a little deeper into his pocket once presented with your opinions.

I thank you very much boriselbrus. :D

I didn’t think it would be that simple.

All I need now is a list of frames with a 68mm BB shell to narrow down to a final hunt list.

    I’ll start with Specialized ;)

    any others?

    Cheers

Yeah I under stand the 68mm/73mm must be the same on new and old frames

He currently has a Shimano BB-ES25, Octalink spline, cartridge bearing, 68 x 118mm fitted.

Anyone know of any frames past and present that it will fit??

    Cheers

Cheers Glasgowdan, I did think so but wasn’t 100% do they come in different lengths to suit different frames as well as 68/73mm width or doesn’t that matter, he would look to upgrade to an external at some point just not now

Not had any problems with EBC pads, good life and stopping power not over expensive. Always use sintered mind. Tried the non sintered in another brand and lasted one ride :(

    Thanks for the replies,

I’ll get out and have a look at weekend and try them for size/fit. As it’s something I don’t plan on wearing a lot of the time, only when caught out by the weather I might just opt for the Montane purley based on more cash left over for other new stuff.

    Cheers

Always carry a used but not quite worn out set in my back pack along with a spare spring. What do they weigh?? FA, so don’t see the point not to carry a spare set, if I wanted to ride with one brake I’d only have one fitted.

Understood. but everyones opinion is different. If I listened to all the advice I’d been given over the years I’d have never found out for myself what does or doesn’t work for me. Probably sounds harsh and I appologise for that, but thats my opinion, take it or leave it.

Like I said, Each to their own, personal preferance etc..

RR – maybe try one for yourself??

I’d say it’s personal as I’ve ran them front and rear for a while now and I like. Good volume (2.35), predictable and grippy with a good wear rate too in my opinion. As a lot of things though , one mans meat is another man’s poison. I tried High Rollers and didn’t like them as much yet people rave about them.

Best thing to do is give them a bleed, it’ll put your mind at rest. Here’s a bit of a how to from Hope themselves http://www.hopegb.com/page_mep_force_4.html Oh and at least you’ll have lubed the seals :)

    it is dead easy though.

Without stating the obvious, you’ll either love it or hate it. Me I love it, not been for ages though. The last bit of single track just goes on and on.
The cafe as you turn off the main road to Penmachno (can’t remember what it’s called) is great for after ride scran and a hot brew.

Maybe have a look around at possible (crash) landing areas and clear away large rocks and logs, probably sounds stupid, but if it were me at least I’d know there is nothing hidden where I might just end up.

Also with AndyRT on the ‘it’s in your head’ and the start small + armour.

If your confident with jumping wait till it has less green and has more grip. If not, practice jumping the same gap at least or larger until you have the confidence to jump a ? ft gap without thinking, then wait until it is less green and has more grip.
