Our Glazing we use at work comes from System3 at Denton And it costs us £32 m2 for standard 4/20/4 units or £36 for toughened 4/20/4 units. Sure if we were buying the frames it would be cheaper.

So based on your info around the £50 per unit +vat

+1 M and S are expensive but you don't have to specify individual items (e.g. bikes) unless they are over £4.5K.

I've had call to use them recently and the service was superb – IMHO well worth the premium

Uplink – anychance you can post some details of your finds, the legitimate claims can be backed up with receipts or extensive details.

Well if anyone sees a scumbag #1,#2 or any other number for that matter riding round the North West on my stolen Silver Anodised Santa Cruz Heckler, with the frame number 00581. Please let me know.

Endura Gridlock here, probably a little more jacket than the waterproof your after but suits me and wearable over multiple seasons, I find I only ever need the Stealth or Gridlock.
Same as always though, each to their own

thomthumb – Decathalon at £8 looks good at the moment

Realman – Don't want to carry a camelback around for a two hour local blast or quick evening lap as no need, got a mule for the long ones and can't fill that.

zaskar – which size? Maybe I should also ask which micro pump you guys are using that fits in as not really looked at them.

I'm in agreement with dr_death about M&S, there are cheaper out there but in my opinion it's worth the little extra. They've paid me out in just under 2 weeks for my loss, no silly questions, build spec pricings or receipts required. I told them what was on it, they offered me an alternative, I pointed out the differences (the frame) and gave them my prefered bike shop total build price and they just paid up. Sorted

opt for the away from home cover if you go with M&S it's good world wide.

Telemaster18 – Thanks for sorting out the pic.

Yeah makes you sick, every day some scrote has had off with someone elses pride and joy without any remorse at all. Festering knackers is not quite what I'd hope for, more a slip on the stairs and a snap of the neck. I know there would be no suffering but at least the world would be one less.

Just heard back off M&S and they have offered me a cash settlement which is very favorable and I have willingly accepted. Going to sort out the order for the new build tomorrow.

    A happier than yesterday

Telemaster18 – Can't post up pics as don't know how to, I can e-mail a couple over if you could host them for me?

grievoustim – Mmm I know where your coming from but the Heckler wins for me personaly. I just love the looks and way it rides and feels and also not having ridden an Intense there is no way I'd accept a bike without having tested it out first and that would just prolong the replacement process even further.

Seems there is a lot of thieving scum around at the moment reading through the posts on here. F'in bstds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wanted to jog peoples memory around the stockport area about my Silver Ano Heckler that was taken last Monday 27/07/2009.

There can't be that many around south Stockport so please keep your eye's peeled, everyone I see on a bike is a susspect at the moment.

    e-mail in profile if seen.

    Ta.

On a lighter brighter note it seems wheelies have gotten thier act together and have now made me an offer of an Intense Tracer vp frame with all the components to match what I had on the Heckler. Looks and sounds real nice but I'm going to see what sort of cash offer they come up with before I make a desision (sp) because at the end of the day it's not a true like for like replacement and I would definatley have another Heckler given the choice.

I've got ( had actually, as some scrote has nicked it) a Heckler and for me it's the perfect bike. I test rode all bikes avalible to me at a demo day in CYB and personaly for me this one suited me better than the others. If your alright on the climbs the you'll be rewarded on the downs for sure, it's smooth, controled, forgiving if you do get out of shape and an excellent all rounder. When wheelies or the insurance get round to sorting it I'll get another one, no doubt about it.

As already suggested try and get a demo of them both or any others you fancy, it is really the only way you will know what suit you.

Write out your list of all the parts used for the build and take it along to your LBS with a nice pack of biscuits and see if they will cost a replacement up for you, thats all I did (although the shop isn't really local and I forgot the Biscuits) ask them to put it on headed paper. job done.

Thanks for all the support people.

Sheldona- Did they put up much resistance to you wanting the cash?? as I don't fancy having to "make do" as andymc puts it, I bought the Heckler because thats what I wanted, and fully intend to get another. Whats the point of being insured like for like, if you end up out of pocket or having to settle for what your told you can have by someone?

Si- If I end up with the cash I'll be along to see you guys without a doubt. :)

I'd like to keep it in the house but the Mrs says "NO". :(

Just spoke with Darren at the appointed bike replacement shop, something wheels. Gave him a nice long list of whats on the bike and I just have to sit and wait now for an offer of some sort.

Anyone any tips for dealing with these shops that work for insurers sorting replacements etc…

As uplink has said, as long as it’s 4 or 5.1 you’ll be fine, car or motor bike will do no need to pay the premium just because it has “cycle” on the container.

When you’ve washed the bike off, remove the seat post and turn the bike upside down, this allows any water thats collected inside the frame, however it’s got in, to drain out. I always leave mine upside down overnight once washed.

Have you actualy bedded them in though? Ride a short sprint (50m) flat out and brake hard without locking the wheel, repeat several times.

no it’s not the limit screws and seems to move out far enough by hand, I’ll try the park site and have another go.

Yeah got a 28.6 Shimano Deore FD M510 which is dual pull, and running a 118 BB axle but just can’t seem to get the bloody thing working on all 3 chainrings. It’s as if it won’t move the chain over far enough for the outer ring. Tried moving it up and down the seat tube without any joy. I can get it set up on the inner and middle fine but the outer is another storey.

Have I spent to long at work today and missing something obvious?

    cheers

Rode them both on the same Saturday with jay week before last, loved them both as it had been so long since the last visit, personally I’d choose Penmachno though.

My 2p, as already said you have the choice of a shorter or longer route and at one point a decision can be made by the group as to which you go for.

Well fitted the headset and race(without having to cut it, still don’t know why you’d want to anyway) tonight in about 15mins and I can’t see what all the fuss was about. Got it pressed all nice and square first time and even got the decals centered on the bottom cups, cos I know some of you like that sort of thing.

Thanks to those who gave sensible and practical advice without being sarcastic and demeaning. You know who you are.
