I’m sanding floors and either the filter in the extractor has gone or it’s just very dusty in here…
One of the hardest decisions to make but you will know when, our old lab is slowly deteriorating in front of our eyes and it’s heartbreaking..
Like others have said it sounds like he’s had a lovely life with you guys.

750 Havocs on the FS gravity orientated bike

Wondered about going wider but find the 750’s feel really sweet and I can still really chuck the bike around when I have the energy and feel more animated.

    Got 12 but not 14. Age 42
The 90’s might have a lot to answer for.
I do now wear ear defenders when drilling or using any kit that is damn loud.

Ex wife left me with £26K debt after our business got swallowed up in the divorce… thankfully didn’t go bankrupt and worked my ass off to clear it.. 10 years later its a lot simpler £900 on an interest free card but savings can cover it, no mortgage and we paid the car off last year. Being self employed has made me more thoughtful with money and where it comes from.

In a previous job, we would sell electronic kit to customers, when they were refused finance after appearing as a dead cert sale the reasons would make your hair stand on end. The level of debt for some was staggering.

I had a Beetle (old type not the hairdresser one) the bonnet and new wings had been freshly painted and she looked lovely… On the way home from the painters a truck flicked a stone out (think the rolling ball out of Raiders of the lost ark) from between its rear tyres and it hit the bonnet… I nearly cried.

@enfht — Its to get a tubeless tyre to seat on the rim… Once the bead is seated and has made that satisfying “bink” noise, the tyre can be pumped up with a track pump or the Ghetto extinguisher.
I also found I was using CO2 cannisters to get the tyre seated, which isn’t great for the sealant.

Its pretty easy just need to find a few bits and bobs and be reasonably handy in the shed.
    1 x C02 extinguisher (empty)
Drill a 6 mm hole in the over pressure safety cap,
Insert a presta valve from the inside and tighten the collar on,
Cut off the black diffuser horn and unscrew the metal pipe/collar,
Either use the hose off an old track pump or purchase hose and suitable end for presta valves and push into the extinguisher with the seals and collar off the metal pipe.

I must add I’m not the original inventor of this and pressurised air is pretty dangerous if it decides to leak all at once 😉

Good luck with your new puppy exciting times ahead.

Direct Line insurance stopped our policy when our 2 turned 11 y/o, this after paying in for the period and some minor claims, the monthly cost towards the end was becoming eye watering.. No apology, or thank you they just stopped the policy as per their t&c’s the sods.. so when you will more than likely need it after paying £1,000s in we ended up with no insurance.

We’re now with purely pets who have so far been great.

97 Audi A4 Tdi (purchased off here) which is at 253K, brill car as its my work vehicle/bike carrier/dog carrier. Cruises sweetly at 80mph and loves Shell nitro diesel.
Old company banger was a ’51 plate Citroen C5. On the MOT checker it had 178K on it.
Our old ’05 Focus TDCi has 167K and is still running.
I remember as a kid that cars with 100K on them were knackered and either rusted to death or spat all their oil out.

Recently had my RP23 shock Push tuned and serviced by TF.. the results are very pleasing, it’s lost that wallow in the mid stroke and tracks the ground much better. Glad I had it done and TF’s service was excellent from start to finish.

My advice .. the optional “red downhill route” near Champerey is a tad steep in places. 😀

Start early and don’t miss the last lift but mostly enjoy it, if the sun shines its a great day out on your bike, if the rain falls well that’s character building and unforgettable in equal measues.

Oh and have a beer at some point.

This was my nick name on a site I worked on and was scrawled on my hard hat, locker & tool box.. Created by shortening Ricardo to Cardo
Its a more pleasant name compared to some of the others that were handed out and stuck to my colleagues.

Recently sold a 10 year old S works for £300 originally advertised it for £600, to be fair it wasn’t my decision as was selling for a riding buddy. The guy who bought it was made up with it as his missus was going to use it and TBH in the stark bright daylight of hand over the cash day it was a fair price for it and it was going to a good home.
Sometimes if you want to sell it you have to be flexible with your pricing and accept the offer, but pee takers can be annoying especially asking for 57p after the sale but that’s a separate story.

Austin Maxi (cost me £50 and used to transport mates to clubs)
VW Beetle (should never of sold it)
    VW Type 25 Camper
VW Golf MK.2 16V (miss this one)
    VW Scirocco GTi MK.2
    VW Golf Tdi Mk.4
Ford Escort (the worst one even compared to the Metros)
    VW Passat
    Citroen C5
    Ford Focus (the most reliable)
    VW Touran
    Audi A4

I thought it would be more than this, but I do tend to hang on to my motors if I like them… the Escort lasted 4 months it was atrocious.

Not Direct Line….. the gits took our money for 10 years for our dogs and then said oh sorry we don’t cover dogs of 11 years or more!!! we’ve got 2 and the premiums we’re becoming pretty eye watering..

I would seriously consider in the future (for a non pedigree dog) popping the money in an account instead of with an insurance company. It is a gamble but half the time your insurance co won’t pay out because the excess is pretty much the same as the vet bill for the more regular/ maintenance and non scary stuff.

    Nice pup BTW.

Used to run them and yes they are comfy, but got fed up with them squeaking and creaking, one after only 6 months.
Now run either Brooks or charge.

If you can afford them and like them .. Buy them.
Yes they are expensive but quality British production , excellent Hope warranty and you don’t see many about.
Regarding BB you would need a 30 mm ID which Hope produce.
It’s your bike and your money.

2 weeks in to better breathing for me….
Didn’t smoke much TBH usually with a beer or 2 after a bike ride which doesn’t make a lot of sense at all.
All the guys and girls who I knew who tried vaping ended up back on tobacco again and it doesn’t appeal to me.
I am reading Allen Carr’s Easy way to stop smoking (not the chatty ****t comedy bloke) which is excellent and highly recommended.
Also entered some testing events this year so will need all the help I can get..
    Good luck everyone.

Blimey 12+ hours on any saddle might be a bit numbing …

C17 is wider and a bit more forgiving, I’ve run one for over 2 years in all conditions and it’s been great , still in lovely condition and more durable to knocks and getting wet than its leather cousin.
The Camiums do feel different to a traditional leather Brooks, I recently bought a B17 off here 2nd hand and you seem to sit more in it than on it. The leather ones are adjustable too unlike the Cambium.

I’ve been offered the Praxis but had considered the Sunrace Mx3 … Some of the reviews of the Sunrace said they had problems when back pedalling… It is the feedback on the Praxis I’m after but thanks to all for your input.

    Watching this thread with interest….
I’ve bled quite a few sets of Shimano brakes for friends and my own, using the Epic kit and whilst all but one set have been fine , one set did keep coming back with “it’s gone spongy again” … Although 3rd time lucky might have got it.
Must admit I don’t use Shimano fluid or the yellow spacer I found the Green bottle opener key ring MBR gave away a couple of years ago fits Shimano and Hope callipers perfectly.

I was once told single speeds actually have three speeds: 1. sitting down 2. standing up 3. walking.

If you can do all of those you’ve pretty much got it dialled!

For me its this in a nutshell ^^^
