+1 for Japanthers , have been wearing mine this Winter and I really like them. No wet or cold feet , good stiff sole too.

I thought NT were trying to promote cycling on their land at certain sites ?
I suspect it might be more the family bimble aspect rather than Strava smashing roosting and so on.

With the older style Hope floating rotors — When they rattle
With Shimano when they start to deform and the braking surface isn’t flat anymore or they shudder under hard braking..

Ahh yes angry typist alert… I was fuming last night. They DON’T give a stuff about you or your pet.. Guess what? to complain to the Ombudsman you have to go through Purely Pets initially I wonder how quickly that would end up in the “No sorry never received that” pile.

Yep got in… me and a riding buddy.
Bit scared, but did the Enduro 2 this year which was brill and the area is amazing for trails.
This has been on the bucket list for the last 3 years and its got to be done and its a good excuse for a bike upgrade 😉

Just bought a large ’16 Spitfire frame in black to build up and to replace my ageing Orange 5… really interesting thread answered a lot of questions I had.
Will post some pics up when I make some progress.

We park on the street outside the house , when there is a space, only for some numb nuts to park soo close it makes getting out In the morning a PITA … Yet behind their car is loads of space.. Knew there was a good reason to have a towbar fitted.

I refuse a carrier bag for the 4 pack of Stella from the corner shop even though the shopkeeper insists… Is that a reflection on me or the area I live in ? Oh the shame of walking down our street with wife beater under ones arm.

Feel for you Simmy… Our 13 year old lab scared the pants off me on Weds , came home to fine he’d had a stroke, rushed to the vets I was fearing the worst and a bit of a mess.. Vet was brill gave the old boy a sedative , painkiller and Vivtonin and the offer of a personal loan…
He’s back, a bit wobbly but the tablets seem to be working… but mate not nice.
    Chin up fella.

I work for myself and the company secretary is my dog , our meetings are a bit one sided but we get on very well.. I make peoples houses pretty and more habitable for them…
Best thing I did was to work for myself, in all seriousness, I just ended up resenting the companies I worked for, basically for being pretty cr@p at motivating and investing in you…

Ringing a LBS to ask if they had waterproof trousers, “Yes in the sale too , pop in” was the reply… Popped in to be told “Oh no none in stock, ha-ha what do you need them for it’s May..” The owner I’d spoke to 20 mins before was apparently out for the day and unavailable for a chat… I was fuming! That will cost them in the long run as I won’t bother in future, so support the one in our town who occasionally do take a while to get stuff in but I’m happy to support rather than CRC and they build superb wheels.

Did the Friday practice and Saturday race. Big group of us with varying skill levels but everyone got round despite a few tumbles. Loved the big rocky chutes and the off camber sections on the grass were interesting.. Stage 5 was hilarious and flat out. Punctured on Stage 3 on the front and had a mare trying to fix it which balls’d up my results, the transitions were pretty long, god knows what it must have been like with strong winds on the Sunday.
Enjoyed the atmosphere and chatted to some nice people in some lovely scenery with the sun in our faces and we had a giggle, would do it again.

I own a 2010 5 and I’m going through the same thought process… I recently updated it to 1×10 with a Praxis 11-40 cassette , xt brakes , off set bushes and push tuned the rear shock… I love it and it’s about to do its 7th Alps trip !
I’d love an Alpine but as the 5 managed to get my backside through Enduro 2 without me mangling myself and will still take me on our regular Weds night XC ride,’I can’t bring myself to replace it..
    Best bike I’ve owned.

I should own shares in Rennie….
    but after being to the Docs and basically being diagnosed with nothing more than a need to change diet and lifestyle rather than a medical problem..My causes in order seem to be;
    Stress (work related)
Coffee and fried breakfasts and beer
    Massive weekends….
    Real Ale
    Fatty food
Biggest thing I did was change my job and it reduced my reflux massively

If I can add my experience..
Fox RP23 shock which after 6 days of being beaten and abused in the Alps inc. the Enduro 2, finally let go (it was 6 years old) and the airshaft and can wear just couldn’t cope anymore.
Sent of to TF tuned who had previously push tuned it and made it behave properly, all serviced and problematic parts replaced but it had developed an air leak on its return.. Rang and spoke to the techs it was collected, repaired and a new part fitted, which I wasn’t charged for ! back on the bike ready for the weekend.
Brilliant service, I like the service report too. So the forks have now gone for their annual MOT.
    Keep it up TF 😀

I tend to do most jobs on my bikes and built 2 of them. Am a big fan off turn of the TV , turn on the tunes and have a beer whilst bike faffing. Wheels are bit of a nemesis so leave that to the LBS and the forks and shock go on holiday to TF once a year.
