Such a shame…. feel as though we have been robbed of a serious challenger for a world title and a real character to go with it… still talking about it at work.. dark days for motogp.

Before doing any cutting and dismantling then .. check the shroud size…the standard one (for black plastic hose) is 5mm the braided hose is 6mm .. thats all mate. 🙂

I’ve done this job and everything is re-usable … except the shroud that slides over the hose and tightens the olive against the fitting… the normal tube is 5mm the braided hose is 6mm you can get them off ebay for £2.50 us the link below….

Check out Perth and W.A. if you get chance.. lovely city, great weather and lots to do and see such as Freemantle, Rotnest and the Quakas, Kings Park and travel down for the surf and wineries at Margaret River… Cottesloe beach with the white sand that stretches up the whole coast too.. The problem will be you won’t want to come home…

Oh and if you decide on Sydney (5 hour flight away) you got to do the bridge walk!

Love it… woke up with a slight hangover this morning and took myself on a 20 miler to clear the head…. worked a treat. I have a job where i have to multi-task a lot so when i’m riding it’s great to focus on one thing, forget about stuff that doesn’t really matter and enjoy it fully. I have been to some great places and made some good friends and we have a laugh. best hobby ever!

Run my 5 with a Stinger chain device and 2×9, seems to work superbly never dropped the chain and doesn’t sound like a sack of spanners beating a robot to death and stuff

This is a bit embarrassing some years later but we were only young…

In Corfu absolutely hammered after a night out on a boys holiday, no excuse i know but, we came across some guy lying in the street obviously a little under the weather from a heavy sesh… well we thought it would be funny to piss on him which at the time was hilarious so we did… and with wee gurgling in his ears and us giggling like school girls he suddenly jumped up and ran down the street yelling alsorts of things in Swedish i think….still giggle about that now.

An old friend of mine was finally asked to leave home and find a place of his own after a rather heavy weekend, he managed to not find the toilet but decided to have a slash on his mum whilst she was in bed…. my how we laughed… even funnier was that same evening prior to giving his mum a wash, we had shaved one of his eybrows off and drawn on him with marker pen … his mum didn’t find that funny either..

Practical —- Yes (very easy bike to maintain and ride in UK conditions)

Fun —– a very big… YES (absolute hoot to point downhill)

With the Pro pedal in use for climbing it stops a lots of pedal bob , but you will still get some.. There are occasions when climbing, on something slippery, when a small amount of movement from the rear suspension helps to stop the rear wheel from spinning.. technique also plays a big part.

Fantastic UK built bike… it’s not expensive if you use it and love it. Had mine for 18 months now and wouldn’t swap it for any other full sus.

I ran the R for a while but upgraded to the RLC FIT which is superb. The R performed faultlessly BTW and would have been fine but I took advantage of the “FIT” upgrade Mojo were offering. TBH one of the best features is the compression damping on the RLC which absorbs small bumps faultlessly and the FIT cartridge which has behaved in all conditions and rides XC/ALPS/ Trail Centres, for the last 12 months.

yep doing it again this year, there should be about 16 of us this time too…. keep an eye out for MTB Berkhamsted on our shirts…

Same advice as above really flat, with towpaths along the Thames, some bridleways and woods and a few minor roads until the North downs which becomes more interesting and hilly… Long flat out railway track until the South Downs then a beast of a climb,… eat drink and enjoy it.

Then on the beer in Brighton (all for a good cause, of course) 😀

    Get a 5 ….

Really simple to work on, one single pivot instead of a dozen as on some bikes, very strong and takes lots of abuse and it’s British!

Have riden mine in alsorts of weathers at local XC, trail centres to doing the Passporte in the Alps, where it took a right beating and could keep up with fat lads on downhill bikes. The faster you ride it the better it goes, wouldn’t swap mine for anything else full sus wise.

The hardest decision is what colour!

+1 for Shimano steel chainrings, have used these on 2 bikes now and they are very hard wearing…

Also a chain wear tool from Park is well worth having and using.

Clean everything completely and try a new chain first, KMC make good chains and usually the more expensive ones are just shinier and less likely to go rusty if you don’t oil them….

If the new chain doesn’t work and the teeth on your chain wheel look pointed or hooked then new chainwheels will be needed, look at them all don’t forget to see if the rear cassette is **** too, cos if everything else is that worn then it’s likely.

Top tip for what it’s worth…and this came from one of the service guys at Mojo.

In between rides or the night before turn your bike upside down, this allows the fluid in the fork to run down and soak the seals and pads, which helps keep everything lubricated inside and catch any crap that gets past the wiper seal.

I agree that the official service practice is over the top and unpractical for most riders but keeping the seals clean and removing anything gritty from the seal face, as well as inverting the bike, seems to have worked for me.

@Furious.I worry that I’ll miss the big ring because I do use it (albeit very occasionally)..

I had the same thoughts but once it had gone it was one less decision to consider regarding gearing, just use the whole of the rear cassette and get on with riding.. just using the granny when absolutely necessary.

Also if you don’t like it, it’s dead easy to put back to 3×9 again. 😮

Don’t want to worry you but…and I’ve got to ask this, you did put the jump leads on the right way round?, if not then the Engine or another ECU could be knackered/burnt out…. Also because the battery was very low the sudden surge of power through the system from the donor vehicle via the jump leads can also damage delicate components in the ECU, especially if the ignition was on when it occurred.

You probably need a good auto electrician with a Tech 2 diagnostic tool.

Absolutely lovin mine,I also have an Orange 5 but love the speed and zip a Soul can deliver, totally flickable and can deal with the fast stuff too. I’m 6’2″ and the large frame works for me no probs… Nice work Cy, great design mate.

Pretty sure most bash gaurds cover 32 to 36 with out a problem, Shimano steel rings are cheap too so no big loss if you don’t like it and need to change again.

Gearing is a personal choice and suited to where you ride, after fitting the 36 I only find I need the granny when it’s proper steep.

Yes it is very likely it’s that simple…. I converted my triple SLX on my orange 5 to a double and bash using a Blackspire BB chain device which is brill and cheap too…(they do make a an ISCG version) Bolt your bashgaurd on and re-adjust the front derailieur.. bit of fettling to make sure everything meshs nicely and you won’t look back mate…. I did change the middle ring to a 36 but kept the granny at 22.

    Hope that helps……..

That was my first experience of Kielder on my Orange 5 , which worked really well despite all the sand rammed into every orifice ,mine as well as the bikes, causing chain suck and the brakes were virtually useless at times and down to the metal after 30 miles. I swapped pads for another set, which lasted until checkpoint 2 where after a very close “big off” due to having one eye shut cos of the grit in it, I called it a day…the singletrack sections and the one down to the finish were fun tho’… Enjoyed the Black-sheep beer in the pub too!

I packed in completely this April after 15 years…. I’d got to the point where I would have a doooob after a beer then hang on to the garden furniture waiting for the world to stop… quite a rush! Miss the fun factor and staying up late with mates… don’t miss whiteys, worrying about my health and trying to score… Giving up is the best thing I have done for me and my missus, I’m quicker on the bike (because my lungs are working better) and in my head the powers of concentration have improved massively and I feel positive about stuff. Never thought i’d say this but life is better for me without it!.
