6’2″ on a 20″ and it works really well for me… I test rode an 18″ and on the pics my other half took it looked like a toy bike…. You really need to test ride one mate before purchasing. You’ll know as soon as you start pedalling. Great bikes by the way!

    The Daily Mail…awful,awful,awful.
Sky and all the other ancillaries that made Murdoch who he is today
HSBC — just as bad as all the rest probably.
Halfords — add your own comments
Tesco — For crimes against your local small shop

They tried to rip me and the other half off a few years ago , saying that the brake discs on our car were worn out… I challenged them and asked to see the discs, the micrometer they were using was a piece of junk and wouldn’t zero and as the discs were supposedly below 8mm the measurement was clearly wrong…(in their favour) they didn’t like being challenged and got pretty shirty when I showed them their mistake. We refused to pay the bill and suggested trading standards to them, paid for the tyre and no charge for the discs! after a bit of a stand off…. I’ve never been back so the loss to KF over the last 8 years is quite a lot of money, now I have a great independent guy who can beat most tyre centre prices and doesn’t try to rip me off.

I’m about to hand over my 14 year old Raleigh FS that has been my work dinnertime hack and was the start of my fuller time MTB career, until I discovered modern forks and design. The main pivot bearing is going and it owes me nothing really, I hope the new owner does use it and enjoys it. Still sad to see it go but I have 3 other bikes , limited space and they should all be used at some point not snoozing under dust sheets in the shed.

Fall to your knees and plead with the tyre god that it will seal.

I’ve run Hopes (X2/V2&M4)on all my bikes except the latest SS which I fancied something a bit different and got a set of older Shimano XT’s (M775) for a very good price 2nd hand . Hopes do look great with a genuine machined crafted look and although not the most powerful brakes in the world I’ve never a had a problem with them, even in the Alps. Shimano look Ok and do the job which is what i’d expect from them TBH. My personal preference FWIW is Hope (and it’s British)

Barring some clothing and glasses, is there anything else out there cycling related that is faked?

Yes strava times judging by some peoples results …. 😉

Group of 6 of us taking part this time , 4 on Singlespeeds and 2 on FS geared bikes. The conditions did us last year with chain suck, brake pads and general misery and grit in the eyes. One of our team missing the 3rd cut off by 7 seconds after he’d stopped to pay the piper!, he then joined us in the pub. Praying for a dry one as I would like to finish this time and feel much better prepared. It’s going to be tough and a long day but if it was easy everyone would do it. See you on Friday. 🙂

I’ve used Nic’s on most of my bikes and found them on the whole to be really good, but worth getting the stronger side walls , we suffer a bit with flints slashing tyres unexpectedly on the trails but that can happen to any make of tyre… I’ve used them on dry dusty stuff to mud and yes they’re not great in deep mud but most tyres aren’t unless they are a proper mud tyre… try one if it doesn’t work out sell it on here in the classifieds. By the way the 2.1’s are sods to get on big rims.

Not when their isn’t one available mate. I promise once you’ve used one of these types of stands you’ll wonder why you didn’t earlier, like i said it makes maintenance much easier.

I bought one of the first Andystands in white ,I don’t have the space for a proper workshop stand , yes it costs a bit but cost per use has negated the purchase price TBH. Wouldn’t be without it and for the sake of being able to leave your £**** bike safely in a stand without leaning it against walls or propping it against a piece of wood, kerb etc….. It does only fit hollowtech cranks but all my bikes have these and it makes routine maintenance and cleaning a doddle.

My honest advice is to look after number 1……anything you like in the house, get it now.

It’s gonna get nasty as soon as the lawyers get involved and in my experience they’re not really worth the money and will do whatever you ask so long as you pay them.

Have a plan and a goal so that when it is really rubbish you have something to focus on and remember it will get better.

I’ve gone through it and life is good now, good luck mate and you can always ride your bike for some escape time.

Looking at their blurb looks like both road and mtb, they are pretty pricey but like the lack of a cage.

Touchwood I generally on Singletrack have found the buying and selling process to be very good, have not been messed about and had dealings with some genuine good people. Yes if someone really wants something they will pay for it straight away, no question. If they make you wait for payment well that’s just plain rude and the item is open for sale again to someone else. Communication is the key though, if there is a problem tell the other guy/girl… (It’s still miles better on here than Ebay or PB) 😉

I’ve used photobox… the end results are brilliant. we did have to wait a while for ours tho’ as they had just done a special offer and I think were a bit overwhelmed with the response.
