Try a charity shop and see if they sell those exercise mats that ladies use for wriggling around on and doing yoga type stuff… I use one and it’s been great…long enough to fit completely under the bike and to catch anything that drops off.. When you’ve finished just roll it up and stick an elastic band around it.

Old Raleighs were sold on Ebay for not a lot… but better than scrapping them as they still worked (sort of) hopefully they are enjoying retirement pootling down tow paths and to the pub.

Thanks Dr.P interesting to see how many of AZ’s drugs were in that top 10.
I find no real pattern to the symptoms but drinking and the odd cheeky ciggy (social smoking) don’t help.. but even if I don’t drink or smoke for days at a time then I can still get an attack..that could be as my job is rather frustrating…. I’ve never been very tolerant of fatty foods and stopped drinking strong coffee a long time ago. The day of a night ride has to be planned quite carefully with eating and drinking to avoid reflux when on the bike.

All I know is the first bikes to the pub at the end of our night rides are usually the Singlespeeders oh and to the top of most of the climbs.. come to think of it we spank the geared bikes on most of the routes we do… It makes me soooo cross!!!

Mine didn’t fair very well and had some rather large dents in them.
I wouldn’t have another set personally.

I run this exact set up with no problems at all….. the Nics went straight on with minor fuss, yes a little tight but technique over all out brawn works and sealed even without the Stans goo in them.

One piece of advise with any jump starting is don’t leave the ignition on when you connect the jump leads… it can cause a rather large power surge and damage an ECU (read: expensive swearing session)

Great thread… I am so bored at work it’s soul destroying….39 and been with this company for 7 years , I don’t particurly like the industry I’m in and think it’s future is diminishing due to Chinese imports and a severe lack of copyright in China. The straw that did break the camels back was after being told last year that there were no pay rises because the company is skint, for the 3rd year in a row, the bosses went to St Lucia on holiday for 2 weeks.. hmmmm…. it’s time to do something for me I think.

@dorset_knob and Gary M I have the 4s and got mine from a company in the UK here[/url]. It’s superb honestly no problems with using the phone or hearing the earpiece, reception etc… Fantastic design and I don’t worry about my phone getting wet or damaged.

It’s a doddle, easier if you have the correct bits and pieces but there are help videos made by the guys at Hope to give you an idea of what is involved. Helpful stuff from Hope

For the cost it’s probably best to get replacement stainless steel cartridge bearings either from a bearing specialist or UK bike store do them.

    Common sense rules.

    Our puppy is now coming up for 10 years old, chocolate labs are very loyal lovely dogs but do have some issues; I’ve had 4 in total, in all 3 shades of lab, here’s my experience over the last 40 years in brief;

He will always be hungry (don’t fall for it, they will steal and look very cute when dissapearing up the garden with tonight’s roast dinner)
I feed mine twice a day (field and trial duck and rice)
Keep the weight of him/her down as this can cause issues with hips, joints etc.(mine is 35kgs but did get upto 41kgs when living with mum and dad briefly and was being titbitted)
Don’t over walk him when young build up to it gently.
Watch out for the ears, they can clog up with gooey horrible stuff and might need cleaning or a trip to the vets for some drops.
They love being brushed and it stops the doggy tumbleweeds from building up.
Oh and remember whose the sofa really is.
Enjoy him they’re never around for long enough.

    Good luck.

Yes we do, there are 8 of us in our clan who ride SS around the Chilterns and half have rigid forks. This bike must be one of the easiest bikes I’ve ever owned for looking after even with all the mud we’re riding through and fun to ride, fast too!.

I tried carbon rigids and they made climbing a lot easier and the bike was really light. Descending was another story at speed tho’ and I had the odd heavy twang to the wrist from something unseen.. I opted for some nice Fox bouncers which are more comfortable and they lock for the climbing.

Try rigid tho’ it teaches you to ride more carefully and pick your lines as well as losing a kilo. 😀

I had one going for 30 minutes and he got pretty arsey when I asked him what colour the flag should be on the windows key, then commented on it’s similarity to a cornish flag and what great holidays we had had there and had he been blah blah blah… just laughed at him when he started swearing at me.

Try these guys in Morzine/ Montriond they have a big chalet, run by a great couple , we stayed there last year.. can hold up to 35 guests, not expensive and a relatively flat ride to the centre of Morzine for the lifts.

Aside from being the other half of the OP’s story, which was bloomin’ freaky I must admit… 😯 When travelling in Oz ’02 ish I was looking in a gallery window in Cairns when a very helpful guy came outside and asked if there was anything I liked.. It was the owner of the local village papershop back home I did a paper round for in the 80’s..I never expected that.
