Disposable ? Not sure what you mean but he’s a pet dog not one of my kids. 100 years ago again not sure what that means particularly as the breed was only established about that time. He’s a dog that has had generations of specific breeding to capable of running all day with a pack of hounds & horses, hence the term ‘incredible endurance’ Also pretty sure it’s been substantially less than 100 years since fox hunting was banned & ohe came from a working family that was used to run alongside quad bikes round acres of fields.
He runs he hunts & damn he even swims across lakes anything different would be wrong in my eyes.

    He does smell though

@2unfittoride I built him up over time to get to this point starting him when he was v.young with just 10mins etc. I met a fell runner who had taken his over marathon distance & he said 10 – 20mins for ever month of age.

Jake obviously thought 40k wasn’t enough coz when he came in he went straight into a game of football with my eldest 12yr old lad and won

“….border terrier dogs were mainly bred for hunting foxes they possess incredible speed and endurance, in fact they were chosen for hunting because they were able to run among the horses that their masters would ride. The speed and endurance of a border terrier dogs also enabled it to not only hunt foxes but also larger game such as wild boar, also for other faster game like rabbits, flightless birds and even be used in duck hunts…”

as it says all day no problem it what they are bred for

Border terrier no contest, I got 4 kids small they love him & he tolerates anything they do. Just back from a week in lakes took him over grizedale pike Causey pike cat bells etc & on Sunday he did 40k with me on the bike in epping forest, believe the hype they will go all day no problem & have wonderful temperament. He recently dispatched of 10 small vermin invaders in the house & even the cat loves him.

Well that was fun from cottage in stair up whinlatter down and round to buttermere then up honister through to Keswick & back before 10.30am as family rising
Not sure what is harder the climb up to the mine as the last but is ridiculously steep or the descent down

The ToB route looked epic so start with that I think though would like to do the Keswick to Buttermere as I’m staying in Stair so can do Whinlatter Newlands & Honister in one shortish ‘family friendly’ loop :-)

That’s the one I been looking at but it says not suitable for bikes that stick over roof, and there is slight overhang when I rack my bikes – it’s bar door with a fiamma rack the bars & seat just pop over the top

The new fork in the salsa is mahoosive plus it’s 15mm bolt through I run a 2.35 Nobby NIc about 25psi but I weight nish so sometimes it’s me that gets bounced around more than the bike.
Took some go pro footage yesterday from a Hackney GT film & photo shoot in Epping with Geoff Wagh chasing Russ the owner down nice section. See if I can get it uploaded from him, he was on an old FS Rocky Mountain Vertex.

Love riding rigid fork on the salsa el mariachi round Epping. The descents aren’t long by any means but they are steep & technical plus they are all natural & never maintained so new hazards appear & each ride can involve a different line especially after some bad weather. Really get the feeling of being on the edge.

Can’t put too finer point on the fact that this man changed my life completely. What he & Ron Hardy Larry Levan etc created & then Mike Pickering and countless others brought to a wider audience was probably the last underground cultural shift we will see.
I met my wife in the Hacienda on a Wednesday night in 1989 & we have been together ever since & now have four kids & that movement that happened in those clubs & fields in those years broke down so many walls including a closed shop that was the music industry. It gave me the chance & from there I went in to work in LDN set up with my own PR company for nearly 20yrs specialising in electronic dance based music I travelled & met so many heroes & legends.
I will never forget the sweat smiles whistles & gurning :-)

@dazh Heroin’s actually quite safe given a clean product and the knowledge of how to use it

In the 90s a lad/addict who lived below me was prescribed diamorphine (heroin) as his treatment etc he was dead within 6 months. You develop an incredibly quick tolerance to heroin within weeks he had to double his dose plus the effects of heroin are very short lived. The upshot was he was outside the chemist at 8.30am waiting to ‘score’ and the circle continued till he died. All his veins eventually collapsed he virtually stopped eating and his weight was about 7 stone.
The policy of prescribing of drugs to addicts as a way of harm reduction is now changing as it’s been judged to offer the addict very little hope as in effect the state just becomes the dealer the end is still the same jails institutions & death.

Come across horses & riders all the time in Epping forest & have loads of trails that cross bridle paths never had a problem to be honest. Think it might have to do with us both sharing a common enemy – walkers who think they own the forest & sabotage the trails

Last one on this if anybody is interested it’s 4-0 to the dog though to be fair the 3rd one was caught by the cat but dispatched by the dog.
From my observations cat great at catching but can be shite at killing & vice versa for the dog. Also dog doesn’t do night shifts :-)
