My old man was an ultra runner in the early 80’s culminating in 24 hour races two of which took place in a park in Chorley Lancashire the loop was was about 3 miles long. The reason why they do ultra’s like this is such a confined space is it’s easier for marshalling & controls/timing.

Joss Naylor prob greatest endurance racer ever IMHO http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joss_Naylor

Here’s Bob Brown from Cornwalls story of his deca man – note it took 2 years for him to recover. He later went on to win the run across America

How can he not have been cleared when there wasn’t even enough evidence for the prosecution to proceed. I put that as even better than being found not guilty the judge decided it wasn’t even worthy of a prosecution and her summing up of the case was pretty damning against the evidence presented and those involved. Feel awful for the deceased family but the whole bi – sexual blame issue just comes across as wrong to me :(

Edit from the Guardian; “The Cape Town judge Jeanette Traverso declared Dewani to be not guilty of charges that he coordinated Anni Dewani’s 2010 murder ”

Best thing about power is it eliminates any guess work and it tells you exactly where you are with your training & racing. If you do venture here’s some tips etc, don’t ever compare yourself this is a fruitless exercise & will probably demoralise you and it’s not the reason why you use power. Remember power fluctuates over time & what your FTP is at one stage of the year will be different at another, this is why it’s used to such effect to peak for chosen events. It isn’t rocket science read the book as mentioned get to grips with the basics and then move forward. My suggestion though would be the same as mrblooby it’s a lot of money just for curiosity, if that what you wanna quench just go to a lab and pay for a ramp test when you feel your fittest or hire one ? Good luck

Sound like Aviators not sure about vintage value but to hazard a guess I would say these aren’t old enough as the original glasses date back to the 1940’s.

Tried Southland but didn’t resonate, the film Gomorrah is wicked. The French series The Returned was a favourite of mine, soundtrack by Mogwai filmed in the alps & the dam at Tignes features heavily in it too. :-)

The title of best TV show ever clearly belongs to The Sopranos. As good as the The Wire was, and it was stunning TV, The Sopranos was miles ahead. The Wire had fantastic narrative but script acting plot lines & story development there’s been nothing like The Sopranos and of course James Gandolfini RIP :-(
Just picked up The Affair features Dominic West & that bird from Luther ;-) http://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/the-affair/s01/
Also a mini series called Transparent that was on Amazon prime was great, both are available by the ‘usual’ means

We had very similar issue here in East Ham, our neighbours had a bay painted on the road outside their house & would hassle anybody that parked in it also leaving the obligatory note on windscreens. I knew they weren’t disabled just ‘carrying a lot of extra timber’. On further examination I found out that unless the bay has an official blue sign on a lamppost indicating times & who can park there then it’s not official and there’s nothing they can do. I then confronted our neighbour with this info at which point they scuttled away in shame and I reported it to the council who then burned the bay from the Tarmac.

Great run TL ready SS 2.25 on 29, with identical version on Ron up front. Wouldn’t dream of using them in mud conditions though. Don’t care about extra weight I like the traction & protection that these give me but wouldn’t use one upfront.

We stayed in Seez about a mile outside Bourg very quiet plus it’s on the road to Tignes. If u want something a bit off the beaten track if u drive out of Bourg on the main road to Tignes about half a mile just before u come to Seez there is a campsite called Le Recluse. Opposite this is a small gravel car park, here there are two trails that go straight up one is single track the other more fire road they head towards Col De Petit St Bernard. I had great fun going up and down these & there’s nobody about.

Here’s all the disco mixes think the earliest is 74 from Tom Moulton at Fire Island. It’s amazing to hear where it all started & the skills these guys had. Also some Daniele Baldelli stuff from Italy hearing him play things at 33 & mixing in some real eclectic stuff for the time.

Here’s pages of mixes by the like of Frankie Knuckles all the Hot Mix 5 (Farley Kenny Jason Steve Hurley) and of course the legend that is Ron Hardy. These are truly incredible especially the Ron Hardy one from the Music Box

I have some from the NYC disco legends somewhere when they were on belt drive turntables – Tom Moulton, Mancuso, Larry Levan, Jim Burgess Roy Thode. These also have to be heard as they are in effect the start of DJ culture and skills with those decks are stunning. Will try to dig them out and post.

I worked for ninja tune for about 10yrs great people & Strictly Kev, PC and Jon Moore are up there with the best DJs I ever heard.

@adsh – never had leakage problems with my stages & ridden in all conditions. The batteries don’t last the time stages claim maybe 50-100 hours. I did have a problem with my XTR crank battery was draining after every ride this turned out to be a connection problem. Stages were great with feedback sent it of to merlin for warranty got new one back with the week and had no probs with it.

Last part of ride heading home on some open ground after coming out of Epping forest a few yrs back had the obligatory “what’s that noise behind me…is it a monster or maniac” moment. Then the moment of clarity “of course it’s neither you numpty” just kept riding but hey ho the noise actually got louder took a quick look behind me SHIT a **** pit bull is about to latch onto my leg …Sprint like a mad man !
Got away without injury but didn’t see an owner anywhere ?

Dunno about the other two mentioned but I got a mariachi SS absolutely love it. Its handling is impeccable fast but very stable. A tad on the heavy side but a small price to pay IMO.

I started off my Border Terrier running first and I would also take him for walks on the trails I planned to ride so he could familiarise himself with them. I also put some bells on his collar so I can hear him all the time if he bolts into undergrowth. Has done (stop/start) 4 hours with me but I usually restrict him to 2.5 max with plenty of water stops & treats. Also stick to the SS with him not geared bike.

Straight down the A11 to Thetford head to visitors centre 3 loops all marked out. Pan flat but fast & loads of singletrack plus it’s a pine forest so stays pretty dry all yr round
oh yeah the car park at centre will be closed so just park on the road and ride down.

It’s not a crash diet by a long way – it’s calorie restrictive. The wife had to stick with it for about 3 months before she got the results she was after, as well as combining it with exercise. As mentioned it’s aimed at those who are limited for time etc. she can work 12+ hour days high pressure senior management as well as family/kids. It’s similar to other diets in that once the weight is lost if that lifestyle isn’t then adhered to & maintained the weight comes back.

    @muppetWrangler
luckily she doesn’t read mountain bike related forums :-)

Wife has done it as she was carrying timber. like all diet stuff it works if you stick to it always, she did & lost weight then stopped doing it we went on holiday – you can guess the rest :-)

Also maybe as brooks move further up the consumer chain they then create a gap below for a new little niche saddle company to develop
