Suffered a long time ago sorted out with a series of core type exercise (one legged squat type things). Was also told the ITB stretch is a myth as you can’t actually stretch it ? Like most injuries particularly running it probably comes from poor form. Go see some that can identify & rectify the source of the problem not just the pain.

Going from hoods to drops is something you will always concentrate on when doing, it generally means you are going faster & want to get more aero. Find quiet section of road & practice, have a play around with your position you might be too low to start of with Descending follows the same principle as off road it’s just you can go much faster, increase your speed incrementally on hill you feel comfortable with.

I dunno what the science says & purely subjective but I was running about 30 miles a week at that age did the Huddersfield marathon (waited round corner for my mum & ditto finish) when I was 14. I would also go on long runs on a Sundays with my dad & others up to 16 miles, whilst racing in the colts & youths cats. No injuries or owt just a heap full of happy memories & a foundation to build on for the return to athletic sports later after doing a fair bit of ‘life research’ :-)

Had one round my collar bone good few yrs back after a bike related break. Two years after accident kept getting dull numbing pain , Doc said I had deep inflammation still there & suggested injection. Worked a treat for me, shoulder was sore for a day but it seemed to cure the problem forever.

Cortisone the drug is an anti inflammatory steroid it’s catabolic (beaks down) as opposed to anabolic (builds). The injection will be around or into the inflamed site and the idea is it just eliminates the inflammation & pain.

As njee already said only one was SITS but not anymore, the wiggle 6 hour is in notts (I think ). There’s also a 24 on the Isle of Man but it costs a shit load to get over on the ferry with a car.

@bikebuoy yeah there’s a few ways into the forest from the Canal, one I do sometimes is from Enfield lock. It’s pretty popular with a lot of riders too Strava segments everywhere :-) I really like the contrast you get from being so close to the big city yet smack in the middle of nature.

can’t get enough of mine at the moment currently doing a regular ride from Bow in East London (start of the River Lee Navigation) all the way up to the junction at The River Stort towards Bishops Stortford and back roughly 80-90k of quiet gravel & firm mud tow path.

The town below the mountain Bourg St Maurice loads of places & camping. Fumicular train from behind the station takes you to the peak in 15 mins.

I fail to see the link to race in that case. ethnicity is defined in that case as geographical point or country of origin linked with culture (language). I might be getting too fine with definition but from a scientific view point it is almost non existent as we are all genetically the same. It is the cultures & geography that separates us. Take these away what have you got, people.

    Collins English dictionary

    leash (li?? )

    Definitions
    noun

a line or rope used to walk or control a dog or other animal; lead

    Word Origin
C13: from Old French laisse, from laissier to loose (hence, to let a dog run on a leash), ultimately from Latin laxus lax

If we are going get pedantic might as well go all the way eh

Walked my Border Terrier on the trails first, then did a few runs with him. One tip I got which works a treat is to put cat bells on him so I could hear where he was as well as see him. Biggest problem I had is being a BT he just wants to keep going inc when we reach a road crossing (Epping forest has lots as u go from one section to the other) so I stop and put him on the leash at least 10/15 yards before the road. Even when he is on command if he sees something across the road killing instinct will take over.

I did 5 ramp tests over 18 months at UEL with PhD exercise physiologist a mix of 1 min/3min 25 watt increments using SRM The results from these correlated exactly with the data I was getting from my Stages. Even if it was at best 1-2% difference which can happen at max power this isn’t going to matter or is it noticeable as it’s the consistency that matters. To add to this I also had a conversion with a BC coach who was also ex GB track cyclists who confirmed same.
@captianslow seriously recommend reading the book especially if you in the mix with racing which it sounds like you are.

My best mate is an old skool roadie raced the Ras in the late 80’s and for decades was a man who preached nothing but ‘bury yourself’ when it came to racing. Now on a stages PM for training & racing totally transformed his approach. The reason being he was getting beaten by guys who were on PMs who in the past couldn’t live him. They were racing smarter not harder.

I’ve got 3 stages only had a problem with one & that was warrantied within a week. Ignore the nonsense that’s spouted about one sided power readings. And that above is wrong, chapter 12 of the Allen & Coggan power bible is called ‘racing faster with a power meter’

Our last car, which has recently died, was a Renault really was a French piece of shite, got a T5 camper to get excited about and it’s been great. After the Renault said I was only gonna get a German car and we need a small (ish) hatchback. Will be used by the wife mainly to drive to & from home to train station for work but she will also drive it work – Motorway to LDN.
Other option is 1.4 petrol but insurance & tax is higher, with Bluemotion virtually zero tax & much lower insurance.

All my kids got hudls never had problem with them doing or accessing anything they shouldn’t. Just turn it on let em play games. I would say the biggest single issue with a 9 yr old on a hudl is the charging port, I have had to repair/replace 3 now as they made of cheese and the kids just ram the charger in there when it needs more battery life.
