I have also got 2 mates that have stages bought same time as me both been faultless. Regards power readings I did countless tests on a SRM as I got lucky with easy free access to a Lab & exercise physiologist. Power reading from these correlate exactly to my stages readings. FWIW when I started training with a PM after the reading the Coogan & Hunter book quickly established not to get too hung up on exact numbers or equally pay any attention to anybody else’s. Been training with power for just over a year now and also starting to realise how long it takes to build a decent power profile and then to look for weakness & then train to them. It’s hard bloody work that’s for sure.

I have 3 stages 2 Ultegra’s which have been fine, never had the 200 hours but a pretty good chunk of time. I am though on my third XTR one. The first XTR one I had a good run of time from the battery but it was when I needed to replace a new battery that it all started going wrong. The second one I don’t know what happened coz the bike was ‘put away’ during winter when I got it out this year battery was ok for a few rides then went and then any replacements just kept failing too. so far so good on new one though all with new firmware.

Such an underrated place to ride. Amazing singletrack & stunning scenery.

I used a nomad which I would keep in the car or van also did the SS thing too but it wasn’t just the bike, it was the kit as well. Some guys I knew used to drive up to high beech then just ride on the Loughton side, avoiding all the wet that flows down to bury wood and the likes.

Ultimately the only real solution to this is what I did for yrs before I moved, don’t ride in Epping in winter wait till it’s dry. Do the road or the other alternative is ride the canal (river lea).

I’ve done similar one too but as Junkyard mentioned used dates & added coconut oil for some moisture & cocoa powder too.

Recovery defiantly and noticeable this year (hit 48 in February) fitness ironical better but been training with a PM for a year now so been a bit smarter with my training. Also not frightened to take days off now rather than push myself to total exhaustion. Currently reading Joe Friel ‘fast after 50’ who advocates shorter higher intensity & weights as we age.

Dilemma is tyres for round here tyres for everywhere else. Ron that was cut other day was on the back of SS which has a NN up front, that can easily be changed as it was only on there coz it got a bit sloppy round Epping before I moved & didn’t wanna out a mud tyre on. The issue is up front on other bike which I race on ?

We wouldn’t even know this event took place if two people hadn’t turned up with guns with the sole aim of murder, let’s not loose sight of that. Those organising sound pretty unpleasant and obviously were looking for the reaction that doesn’t justify the response or that we should live in fear of the response or even worse apologise for it, be it punch or a gun. It is fundamental to free speech just like all those who preceded us fighting for right of expression & identity. As Christopher Hitchens says not in my name.

The right to cause offence will always supersede the so called respect for religion no matter how unpleasant the offenders’ are. This is fundamental to freedom of speech. I for one would feel ‘upset’ without a cartoon image of Mohammad in my life as I would one of Jesus Buddah Moses the president of America or Margaret Thatcher. Please carrying causing offence and feel free to disagree with me and offend as you feel the need.

Had/got disconnected clavicle, clipped a tree at Hit The North couple of yrs back. Felt at first like I was winded carried on racing then at the end felt really sore thought I had broken it (again). Went to A&E told it will heal itself and will be ok never been the same since. Still get pains & aches. TBH worse than breaking it and I’ve done both :-(

Sorry to hear OP. I can only add that from our experience it’s only the courts and social services that can intervene regards your niece, not sure how it works in France though.

Took delivery of my Chinese ones this week. Cost £120 inc import duty arrived in about week. Tracking was amazing almost an email a day telling where they were and when they did arrive I was in the lakes and they kept sending me emails almost demanding I go and pick them up and sort of the duty :-)
Not fitted yet gonna sort next week but the look amazing almost identical copies to whiskey components but fraction of the cost

2nd XTR stages gone back due to battery issues & erratic power readings. Not sure if its an XTR problem as both other stages cranks (ultegra’s) have been no problem ?

Done the old 7 laps course a few times. It was fast and hard, pretty technical single track with a couple of short but steep climbs. Not done it since they had to move it due to the trail closures but heard not much has changed ? Well organised & friendly.

I read an article once that said MTB(xc) riders put out higher power due to the terrain but roadies avg higher due to the constant peddling. What’s the cliche as well, MTB’ers that don’t ride road have no legs and roadies that don’t ride MTB have no soul :-)

OP if needed email in profile I have first hand experience of very similar situation involving my sister which ultimately ended with me now being the legal guardian to my niece.

Started life with a 500 wasn’t long before I wanted an 800 (mapping). Got an 800 worked a treat. Recently got a 810 slight improvement in function but essentially same as 800.
1000 – no idea, HRM yeas for me but tbh I pair mine up with a PM.
Don’t think I have ever downloaded a GPX file, I use mapping for creating my own routes when I go to unfamiliar places. I recently moved to the Chilterns didn’t know the area but mapped rides then load it onto garmin- hey presto off I go.

Bollox, I love the way the El mariachi handles & wouldn’t wanna mess with it :-( seen the kinesis ix is 43. The whisky forks is 45 but I know whisky are owned by same company that owns salsa but the whisky is major £££

The fork offset on the mariachi is 45mm, how will a 40mm offset fork effect the ride etc of the bike ?

I kinda get the directions you mean as been on the road quite bit. Yeah plenty of footpaths where I am in Hughenden and see a route to wendover just unsure how people react to seeing a bike on a footpath :-/

Princess risborough keeps coming up when I google stuff ?
