I know nish about DH/Enduro but Pidcock when designing that Pinarello limited it to 100mm and said thats all you need for these XC course. Didn’t one of the female XC racers comment on how this is idea of the course being more technical was overhyped ?

No all the tests will be done on separate sessions – total time for each session approx one hour.

Hi Thanks for the replies regards age I’m going to be aiming for the research to cover 18-60yrs old so 57 shouldn’t be an issue. @ampthill  atm there is no duration on the time spent at Z2, the research method will be ‘up til 2mml of lactate.”  I have to submit my ethics form for late Jan which will include all the research details when and if it passes ethics I will DM you both.

Anybody else who is interested please reply or DM and once again thanks for the replies – it really helps as the more participants I have the greater validity the research will have.

The water tap at The Plough in Cadsen is broken but they have put a new one in which is on the end wall to left of the pub as you face it. The tap at the church in Wendover is now fixed as well, its round the back next the wooden door.

Let’s not forget Evie Richards too, her season hasn’t got off to the best start but equally she’s an incredible talent XC wise. Regards bikes and the trail/downcountry…etc etc debate its worth noting Trek have gone the other way – the Super Calibre is very aggressive and just 60mm of rear travel. In total agreement with Pidcock he really is pleasure watch – Nove Mesto this week, can’t wait 😀

there’s one very short section of fire-road in there. In the recent races there was also a section where the singletrack split two ways offering you a different line you could take advantage of if you so wished.

Absolutely, though only in winter generally. Salsa El Mariachi with a few mods – old XTR cranks and eBAY Chinese carbon fork.

I’ve been riding MTB’s (XC) with PMs for about 10 years. I’ve got Stages, 4iiii and Quark. Had the Stages reliability issues with the earlier Gens but nothing now in long time – got an old XTR one on my winter single speed works fine. 4iiii is virtually the same – zero reliability issues and the Quark is probably the best in terms of battery life and auto calibrates.
Yeah you can ride to power on MTB’s as I said I’ve been doing for years – ride to a zone not an absolute number. As for ‘spikes’ or much higher peaks that’s what differentiates between road & MTB, it’s the ‘spikes/peaks’ you should see when riding XC. As with all rides as well if you use WKO you can ID discrepancies and adjust and Normalized Power is Normalized power regardless of road or MTB.

Not me but the wife. She had keyhole surgery was in bandages for 2 days then a tubigrip for 4/5 days. Stitches out after a week then back to normal. Pretty routine and uneventful tbh.

The police have the power to randomly stop vehicles, however they cannot perform random preliminary breath tests. They can only make a requirement that a person comply with a preliminary breath test if they reasonably suspect that:-

a person is driving, attempting to drive or is in charge of a motor vehicle on a road or other public place while under the influence of alcohol
a person has been driving, attempting to drive or has been in charge of a motor vehicle on a road or other public place while under the influence of alcohol
a person is or has been driving, attempting to drive or has been in charge of a motor vehicle on a road or other public place and has committed a moving road traffic offence

So sad that somebody with what seems like such a sweet and gentle soul yet a steely determination and the power to inspire felt their was no way forward RIP.

Slightly off tangent but I’m not sure religion needs to be the cause of a wars to be taken apart and criticised for being demonstrably oppressive both psychologically and physically, dictatorial and if it wasn’t so dangerous utterly farcical.

@makkag maybe go through the process of elimination- you haven’t tested positive & there’s no evidence (at the moment) for the covid toes hypothesis then maybe look at your diet and sleep routine, alcohol intake and work life balance. Restart your exercise routine after a few days recovery and when u feel relatively fresh then measure it on day by day scale maybe look into using heart rate variability (plenty of free apps to use for this). ‘Burnout’ is a real possibility most of us can say our anxiety levels have been higher due to the world events recently. I use HRV as it not only gives me a physical read out taken form my HR every morning but also I can log my sleep/mood/muscle soreness/mental energy/ etc. I found this so valuable after my +ve covid result – I knew exactly when was the best time I could return to exercise. Good Luck.

Feel like I’ve turned a corner today – had all the symptoms described particularly the fatigue and my lungs were really sore and one day coughed up a tiny bit of blood (rung docs they said its normal). This is a really informative & balance discussion about vaccines/viruses – didn’t know this but swab studies show 80% of infections are transmitted by 20% of the infected.

Industry Nine Hydra hubs on my Canyon Lux – 690pts of engagement – it’s so loud I followed Industry Nine suggestions that said you can lube with pro x grease if you wanna reduce the noise – for me it was just too loud.

I wonder if something similar to The Athletic is going to come along to cycling soon – subscriber only access and thus ad free. The Athletic is football/US Sports & MMA centred so no reviews of product just news, interviews and opinions etc but I find the format works as its revenue is paid subscribers – they also went round and basically stole the best journo’s in their respective field before the launch.

When I lived in East LDN I was riding to Shoreditch along the Regents Canal on my Kuota carbon CX, a commuter not looking coming in the opposite direction hit me head on and bent my front wheel making the bike unrideable. It happened just next to Queensbridge Road Hackney and it took about 5 minutes for the ‘vultures’ to see there was ‘injured prey’with a very nice bike to be swooped down on. I instantly realised this & thought my best plan of action was to leave the canal and head up onto the road. I also called my mate to see if he would pick me up which he said NP I’m on my way. I sat on wall in the most conspicuous place possible and waited. About 10 minutes later I heard a scooter along the road and somehow intuitively held on tight to the bike, the scooter mounted the pavement came straight at me and the pillion passenger went to grab the grab ! Luckily my grasps was tight enough for him to let go or else he would have been yanked off the back. SHIT ! I knew this was gonna get worse so I headed back down on th canal where there was plenty of commuters and as I expected the ‘vultures’ gathered heading towards me. I found a huge stick but thought ‘don’t take a stick to a knife fight’ then thought **** it I’ll throw the bike in the canal and come back for it – they’re not very deep. Just then my mate turned up on the bridge overlooking where I was and he’s quite a big ol’ unit (rugby) the gremlins saw him and backed off – I legged it up the bridge to his car and got away 😀 Eventually sold the bike during lockdown

Posted this on the other CV thread but come back from 2 weeks in France and tested positive. Felt ropey last day over there but the legal tests we had to do to return int UK where negative. Got home started feeling ok and still negative then the next day that evening it hit me – rotten cold like symptoms but at night it got worse very similar to AZ side effects but with a cough. Had to do a day two PCR which came back positive. Four days in now every day improving but slowly – feels like worse cold ever with a mixture of flu and bad cough.

tested positive on return from 2 weeks in France. started feeling ropey on our last day but all the tests I had to do to return to UK came back negative – did another LF test on return which was negative and was starting to feel ok (planning next ride) then that evening took a real dive downward. Had an awful night sleep very similar to vaccine side effects and had to do the required day 2 PCR test the next day but did a LF before it out of curiosity and quick result and it was positive. I’ve since done 4 all positive and felt like I’ve been hit by a truck – mixture of worst head cold ever with a touch of flu again very similar to AZ side effects I had. Waiting for results of PCR test but feeling much better today – double jabbed and also asthmatic but no asthma or breathing difficulties and blood oxygen levels been normal and only a slight rise in temperature.

There’s miles & miles of natural single track in Epping but all of it can be ridden of a rigid SS, I know this coz Ive done it. Its not a place for “Gnaarrr” & almost everyone is overbiked unless you’re on an XC weapon (IMHO). Epping is a place to enjoy mainly due to it being an untouched forest where trails change over the seasons & years. The rangers there don’t move fallen trees unless they are on the wide fire roads and its left to its own devices. It’s a mystical & quite magical place if you connect with it (highly recommend night riding it) – Theydon Mount on the opposite side of the road to High Beech is where Dick Turpin allegedly had a camp.
I haven’t ridden there since I moved away but I think @Kryton57 is a regular but when started riding MTB a group of guys told me the best way to learn the forest is to get lost – coz you cant actually get lost as your never too far away from a road.

There’s a saying..”when you point the finger at somebody first turn it around and point 3 back at yourself’ not to blame but to seize the opportunity to reflect before we go off the deep end and thus hopefully realise we all have our imperfections. This is then a good starting point to then open up an honest conversation and move the process of healing and coming back together forward. As much as the pain is real in this moment it will pass – Buddists talk about the truth of impermanence – all that is subject to rising is subject to ceasing. My suggestion would be don’t let the suffering of resentment get in the way of what can be a new horizon – each new day can bring a new joy – good luck 🙏
