“Damage to both cars, courtesy cars, admin/legal fees for those handling the claim at both ends – £2500 is going to disappear very quickly, even with a minor bump.”

The XS gets taken off the invoice for the damage to your car , the other cars XS gets claimed for from your insurers , at no point do legal fees , hire cars etc get involved

Surely a small bump would not be worth claiming for if the XS is 2.5k ? Just pay for the damage and not claim .

Ive had the 1st gen Vivoactive for about a year now , Basically I wanted a watch that told the time , tracked my riding /skiing/swimming etc and would tell me if its the wife or PPI ringing me so I can decide whether to pull over or not, ticks all those boxes so I’m very happy .

Try GSF , though if you think you need plugs for Tdi I’m not convinced you should be doing it .
Cambelt and water pump every 4 or 5 years depends on engine code .

Ahhhh , what a beaut , came to work in my 1071 this morning , straight cut box waking everyone up and the added zest of Castrol R , only a 5 port though . I have driven a 1460 8 port with injection on throttle bodies – that was a beast

Turn ignition on so all the lights are on , turn key to start – if all lights stay on and it goes click it’s either the starter or connections to it , if all the lights dim as it clicks – battery , drain or charging fault

We’ve been with M&S for 5 years or so , always been superb (sadly had to use them too), but this years renewal went from approx £360 up to £750 once Id specified 4 bikes which by the way I did last year , after 3 phone calls about it and their “change of policy” we’ve moved to ESURE and are back at the £350 mark again.

Rode it this AM from langsett , probally as good as it can get , really enjoyed the return loop . Last time I rode it was 25 years ago full ridid / cantis / thumbies etc in low cloud fog n gloop – so yes today was much better

No , because you’re not doing a full change . Anyways I’m not here to quible only to help , how about removing the chain to see what the shift is like , that way it rules out the chain/leg question , I’m interested in the answer cos I like to learn .

“Logic says it’ll be stiffer as you’re moving the mech against its clutch.
the cable pulls the mech at right angles to the clutch – so the clutch has no effect on shifting force.

Its your legs that work against the clutch – during the pedal stroke after shifting up. Your leg pulls the cage forward via the chain.”

But as you change, the chain shortens and therefore the cage moves forwards against the clutch tension

What’s it like if you turn the clutch off ? Makes a difference on my xt set up . Logic says it’ll be stiffer as you’re moving the mech against its clutch.

Did you try n push back with a bleed screw open ? if not you can’t outrule a collapsed flexy hose , more than likely the caliper but saves spending extra money.

What year polo / what engine is it ? Polos suffer with valve seating/burning out problems which “should ” be covered and would be expensive if not . Hard to believe I know but fact , their engines aren’t as good as they used to be .

Have a look at what these guys do , based in Elland (its wholesale so an account is needed – easily done) Mrs Carbone works there and I’m sure they’ll have something , if the account shizzle is a pain , they sell some items via Amazon.

Best stuff I’ve found to use is self amalgamating tape , its not sticky but sticks to itself and is a rubber texture , couple of loops around bars and the O-rings grip like mad , I use it on lots of things – chainstays , seatpost to stop crud guards moving etc , handy stuff .
