Davey, yes raw chicken wings are good for their teeth – however not cooked wings – they get fragile and brittle and this can cause major issues with dogs.

My springer spaniel gets a 17kg sack of dried food for £10 lasts about 5-6 weeks i think. Insurance is £18.00 a month.

He was just run over and his vet bill is so far £2700 but we have just had the cheque through for that.

He had a car bought for him too as the old one wasnt big enough for him so add £8000 to that too lol

Ginger tablets however i havent tried them – try the holland and barret place. I do lots of sailing and have just learned how to be sick and get on with it – prawn cocktail crisps make your sick taste nicer on way back up!

Im a soon to be new owner too…. Im looking at it from the perspective that it has hope components etc and 15QR forks and its only a few hundred quid more than the zesty 314.

Im getting a pro with Apple green paint, hope BB and Headset, Performance Pack and Hope pack I think. That should be bomp proof for the next few years.

Ive just got a Potterton Promax Combi HE + with wireless Honeywell thermostat/timer/programmer. Really impressed – i got 28Kw for a 3 bedroom terrace.

Its the same unit as a Baxi Duo-tec 28 so I have been told – seem pretty much like the Ford Focus of boilers to be honest – reasonable price and pleny of parts in the future.

Probably a stupid question but why do they use road type bikes for cyclocross? Would the geometry of an MTB not suit the course better – ie lower standover height for dismounting?

    Interesting cross section of opinion.

THink i'll hold off for now till he next parks one of his 3 cars for sale on the grass in front of my house again – doesnt help his situation that he is a tosser otherwise I may have some sympathy for him.

Im in two minds really – firstly he is actually quite disabled and shuffles around, so he is just doing what he can to top up his money and supply for his kid, however if he can manage to do stuff with chainsaws and other power tools he must be able to lift and do some sort of job.

Ok, think ive sussed it… I have a shimano TL-HG15 which works for normal cassettes. I think righty was right and i need a different tool TLFW30 as my hg15 doesnt fit into the middle of this freewheel cassette. Looks right but must be just off. I have removed the axle from this.

righty, how much do you want for that tool? – bearing in mind that i will only use it probably only once.

Once i get this off i pressume i cant use a standard type of cassette conversion kit – what kind of rear singlespeed sprocket will i need? something like this : http://www.velosolo.co.uk/dicfree.html

And by the look of it another tool to then tighten this on – this project is turning into a major pain in the arse.

Big thanks for the advice everyone. cheers.

INKLEINED – might just do that tomorrow – i only work round the corner on the quayside so that would be handy.

    cheers

cheers righty. I have one of them but i couldnt work out how to use it on that freewheel – does it fit into the middle?

    This is the one ^

Now there is a lock ring that goes over the smallest cog that I want to remove.

Also does this mean i wont have a standard hub that I can easilt convert to singlespeed?

will take a pic later – it says shimano on the cassette in white writing on the largest ring. I imagine it is a cheapy part.

is there a trail map for the new red (the one with the 1km north shore)? Is this the one that will eventually give a singletrack to N’ton?

Might head across at the weekend for a look. Its actualy not that far from me in Alnwick area but takes for ever to get to.

On the cost thing, you will need:

    wetsuits
    boutancy aids
    gloves
    blocks, blocks and more blocks
    cleats
    dyneema rope
    trailer services
repairs to older boats – inc wood work, epoxy fillers, varnish, and more varnish

Old boats, especially wood will leak and they will get rot, they are heavy to lift out the water after a day sail and a bit of an effort to put away, newer designs are loads more user firendly in terms of taking on water after capsizes, something like an rs200 or 400 however they arent cheap and they will need less maintenance.

Check out people like trident sailing, purple marine, mailspeed marine.

Dont let me put you off though! Its a wicked sport.

Just sorting out details of the Round the Island race Ive entered, 1800 boat start! Get in!

You may think bike parts are expensive – well welcome to sailing…!

Everything costs a fortune, you will need to be a member of a club so you can launch/store/training probably budget about 100-150 for a full annual membership. Sails arent too important to you start club racing.

All parts are expensive but if your not playing at the top end there are used parts and boat jumbles you can take advantage of.

    I have a 24′ dinghy:

    😀

National 12’s are cheap but quite tippy, cant go wrong with an Enterprise to be honest. I had one for 4/5 years from about 12 to 16.

They were the same bikes i was looking at but with a Five Pro thrown in even though its nearly 1k more. Im pleased someone else has the same conundrum.

Looking at the 3 I am swayed by the trek the most to be fair, I had a look at the meta 5.5.2 and it is quite heavy. Isn’t the spec on the 314 a bit lower than the trek’s?

    carbon337

Also if say the bike is 1750 and the scheme is 1000 do you just pay the 750 cash on colection or something like that. I was thinking of getting “the wife” to get herself a 18.5″ trek fuel ex8 – thats not too unreasonable for her ride to work.

Anyone got a bike on their wives/Partners scheme? If you did do you need to come clean with the LBS or just keep it to yourself?

The only problem is I really want a 15qr fork on an orange five, Ive started looking at these cheaper alternatives like the fuel ex8, stumpy and meta 5.5.2. If i got the alternatives I’d always think id sold my self short.

bloody expensive – 2300 and comes with recon forks on the pro.

I was just looking at a dawg supreme 3.5k! think id rather have an orange 5 SE to be honest. The dawg deluxe at 2.5k – similar spec to a trek fuel ex8 but thats only 1700.

They just seem so expensive for what they are and i find the graphics somewhat childish.

Good on her getting back on TV IMO even though she must have real insecurities about the whole hair issue. She could have just sat back and moaned in those shitty women mags but she has obviously worked through it. I think she has her own style now and its nice to see people like her getting a chance rather than the normal sterotypical stunning women tv presenters.

im in the same situation with a soul.

Fancy a soul but at £470 i started thinking about 2nd hand orange 5 or something like that. Then I thought about Dialled PA and then spoted an Alpine – which is my fav option so far today – it will change tomorrow though.

How does a PA compare to a soul in terms of geo and weight?

To be honest I have no idea what i want. Just as long as its either british or cove/Santa Cruz. Something different from the specialized/trek/giant sheds.
