My 2010 five came with a crap steel cassette that ate into the hub after 3 rides. I complained to Orange and the shop and the shop replaced it with an XT and Orange replaced there stock.

It was something Orange were going to address when I spoke to them. A post on the Orange facebook page seemed to do wonders for getting it sorted 😉

Yep they are great with spd’s – I like mine as a shoe. But after moving to flats ive started using some Nike 6 mogans. At 30 quid they were a good price to trial flats.

I think I will get the shimano shoes resoled with a 5 10 sole now ive decided to stay on flats. I think a company do the 5 10 resole for only £30.

Are you using flats or spd’s? Flats increase your confidence that your not going to end up on your arse.

sambob – i sailed a Sweeden 41 called “Hotspur of Amble” when I was younger – owner was a gynaecologist but he moved her over to the Baltic when he retired. It was nice but at the time I loved fast fast boats not big slow boats. Im changing as i get older though 🙂

I was in Cowes last June for RTI and we were dry berthed with the dragon fleet – they all paid a full time boat keeper to maintain and polish then launch them in time for the owner nipping dow for the weekends racing. Different world eh

Sweeden Yachts are special. Think I’d take a Rassey next when I get older as the family cruising boat – maybe a 42/44 – manageable when single handing or limited crew for passage making but big enough for a family to spend time on and manage.

I had one of these but sold it 11 months ago to Sweeden. Not as pretty in the classic sense but more in a modern/F1/Engineering type perspective.

im thinking of going 1×9 but do I need a chain retention device above the chainring?

I have a 32T ring that works fine for where I ride, but also a blackspire stinger on the BB mount.

I dont really want to get a new chain guide jobby as the stinger works great – I think I’ve seen ones that mounts on the seatube where my mech was but its on a five so the space there is limited. Where can you get these type? Who sells them?

ha – well thats sorted now anyway – bought a new mech today and getting a warranty replacement on the old which will go on here when i get it.
