He is also surrounded by idiots poor guy.

I once had to tell his Dad to stop tryiong to rip open an electronic security gate when I worked at his local Marina – he had a big powerboat and they all used to go out fishing and getting mortal. Gazza would have still been playing too as it was 95/96 era.

cant see how angle would be any steeper as the distance sideways across the cassette is the same dimensions – as in the casettes must be the same width generally but with an extra ring squeezed in.

Sorry for hijack – has anyone got a 9spd mech working with a 10sp shifter? XT for both. My LBS who mainly do road bikes seems to think it would work.

Isnt it next to the skye bridge – there are some strong currents going through there.

I was there in the summer and there was a lot of helicopter activity coming and going from a Qinetic base they have there.

Im not sure I agree with him – however he is a great character and I love his columns and conferences.

I work for my employer with a contract yet I’m free to leave and go elsewhere – the transfer money shouldn’t have anything to do with it – you don’t “own” that player based on the transfer fee – the fee is only there to encourage other clubs to release the player from there contract and as compensation for that.

IMO the only way to fix things like this is to ban transfer fees and restrict contracts to 2 years maximum – the good players will stay at the good clubs or where they can see clubs improving if midtable. This will work 2 ways with clubs not becoming ruined by large contracts over long periods (Marcelino at Newcastle is my example if your aware of this).

Just go and discover what you can find, give yourself plenty of time, Look off to the sides of the fireroads for starts and ends.

You will always get back to the car park. Trails aren’t marked in an effort to keep the place low key.

Works a treat, is lightweight, only three moving parts and keeps the social side of riding and a breather as I can have a chat when using it

Steve – I really like them and the uturn means i never have an issue with being too slack.

there was a thread on here the other day about them : here

Havent noticed the extra weight and I’m running a softer spring than recommended meaning they are really plush and smooth but at same time I’m not using full travel.

Any pics of the van rc on the five?

Steved what’s the weight difference between a rp23 and a van Rc with ti spring? I’d like a coil on my five to match the lovely coil lyriks.

5 cant be comfortable – me, mrs and dog stayed in one at APplecross for a week and that was ok but 5 blokes and bike gear cant be pleasant.

You can get the bike house for £100 for 5 folk per night.

So Astutes are nuclear powered but not nuclear armed?

We also have trident missile replacement coming too which requires new subs not the current ones and not Astutes?

If you are a bit of a lefty and want to get away from ‘colonial’ uses then they were very useful in the 1990’s supporting operations in the Balkans and Africa.

But why is it always us….?

Where is Holland, Belgium, Sweden, Norway, Finland, I bet they are only doing a small part – why cant we for a change?

Did anyone see that programme with HMS Ocean on – it was like a joke.

Firstly they only had 4 helicopters – 3 were out of order broken, the other was ready to go. That was until someone on board fell and hurt themselves. He needed a doctor which there wasn’t one on board – nor a nurse so they had an admin person (cant remember her job) that also did medical work as she had first aid training.

They went to medivac him only for the helicopter to brake down. They ended up calling in a one from the Malaysian Navy.

Then in the middle of it all when they were waiting on the helicopter coming they decided they were passing the sea grave of some old Navy ship from years ago that sank. At which point they all had to drop tools and assemble on deck for a salute to their falling seamen.

I couldn’t believe what I was watching, once Britain was know for its perfection in its Armed Forces, especially the Navy with our maritime history.

Please someone tell me the Navy isnt all like this. From an outside veiw it looked very shoddy and poorly funded ran.

If we arent going to do a decent job of keeping it all working and efficient then whats the point – lets minimise it all now and do what the Belgians, Swedes, Norwegians do and let someone else police the world.

I can walk my springer off a lead anywhere – including along footpaths (which i dont do regularly- but can do) he comes back when told to to my feet and stays on command.

However I have had issues with other peoples dog running up to him and nearly jumping on him to play – sometimes from large distances too – he takes offence and greets them with a little growl which their owner takes offence at – as if its my dogs fault – he was minding his own business.

My dog is the behaved & trained one who is only interested in his tennis ball but because another is out of control they look at me as if its my fault.

I dont think its fair to say keep them on a leader all the time though – how can a springer get the right exercise on a leader all its walks.
