Its years behind sky/cable in my opinion but if your after standard definition freeview with a nice record and rewind function its fine.

The On Demand HD movies can take 24hrs to buffer up so no use for spontaneous viewing and even with the standard def movie there is minimal choice. Some of the content is shocking, movies you’ve never heard of – however they do get the odd box office smash through just before dvd release.

Today was Dad Saturday with my 5 month old – tomorrow is riding day.

The synapse 105 is all about comfort.

I commute and do club riding and I quite fancy the Boardman Team but no C2W and I dont have 1k lying around so will stick with my £75 job that i got from here and continue beating madones on club Time Trials.

In my experience central Newcastle is actually more tolerant than it was – I work in the city centre and we have a few Indians in our workforce. It is a professional environment so nothing is ever said or even thought.

However I think South East Northumberland is considerably worse. Ashington, Blyth area is where it is worse. phrases such as **** Shop, darkies etc still exist and are used by a very large proportion. I live near Drac and all my family are racist in one way or another – my brother and I seem to be the start of it being more liberal (as in we have worked away in other cities) whereas my family have lived and worked here all their lives. My in-laws are terrible they wont even eat that “foreign muck” or “darkie food”, My gran claims all Indians smell of curry for example. They aren’t bad people its just they are ignorant and non-tolerant to these other cultures. In the town I live in we have no black people at all and only 1 family of Sub-continental Indians that yep run a shop that opened on xmas day so it confirms there opinions.

I wouldn’t just say its the North East of England though I imagine it happens in other working class areas of this country and others – most areas away from capital and large cities of places like Italy, Spain, France, Holland etc will all have it in the far flung corners.

i have 2, work and personal iphone.

Basically work phone is forwarded to my iphone all the time – unless I’m on a long period of leave.

I dont use all my minutes up anyway on my personal contract so use it for business outbound calls.

Means i can do what i want on my phone – browse stw etc all day when im at work lol.

Im in same boat – 3gs need replacing next month as the wife wants it but i think ill wait on the 5 in September – maybe get a 4 for free then.

I was sailing in it. Was like bloody winter. Swell, rain, half a gale and cold. Bloody miserable and to top it of we has newbie crew and only got a second place. Try again tomorrow so hoping for better weather.

Not unless he goes pro IMO and ditches this part time truck thing that he can go back to anytime. Oh and ditches the TV nonsense. Cracking bloke mind but that extra 1% he needs just isnt there as it is for the Dunlop lads and McGuinness

Actually reading properly not sure this is the same issue as my BB is fine unless of course your needing to overtighten the cranks and hence overloading the bearings from the side. Causing your premature wear.

Ive just resolved this same issue – here goes its a bit of a tale:

I had loads of creaking and discovered it was coming from my crankset. The RF Evolve XC cranks use a sinlge compression nut to pull them together. Anyway the splines have all worn on the NDS shaft. Sent to LBS who sent off to Orange – Orange offered me a crash replacment scheme of £90 for a new set as “RF were bust so we cant do anything about it”. I told them to send them onto Silverfish (but apparently Orange buy direct from RF in us/Canada – in the end they did send them..

So Orange finally sent them to Silverfish – who agreed there was play on the splines and they were knacked. However SF claims this was caused because they hadnt been tightened enough into the RF BB – I told him they were fitted to a Hope BB on an 2010 Orange Five with the Hope BB upgrade and he said they shouldnt have been. The RF BB needs to be used as it is designed to work with these cranks. Using them with the Hope BB means you put too much sideways load into the hope BB bearings. The RF allows for tightening of the cranks more and prevents the splines wearing – a perfect fit where the Hope one may be out a mm or so.

Anyway – Silverfish spoke with Orange about this and I dont know the outcome. What I do know is that my 12mth old crankset was knackered and I am being sent some new crank arms and a new BB – after about 7 weeks of me moaning at my LBS, Orange and Silverfish.

Silverfish were ok to deal with and have resolved the problem when they didnt need to they could have said its your own fault. Other than the issues about getting in touch with them they have been very good. I know they arent public facing so this is probably why.

So moral of the story – don’t upgrade your BB to Hope BB if your using a set of Race Face Cranks I suppose – or sell the RF’s and but Shimano HT2 type cranks.

Allez sport is nice – I sat on a 56cm one the other day – felt lovely but again sora – which wasnt an issue at all until last Tuesday night at a club training session i was doing (on my 75quid OCR) when we were doing sprints and I couldnt drop down a gear for more power as i was on the drops.

Still beat a guy on a Giant Defy 1 though 🙂 as Lance said its not about the bike (its about the epo – joke)

Just checked again roadlite 6 is ultegra/105 mix at 880 so better deal than boardman team.

The roadlite 5 is Sram apex the same as boardman comp and looks similar in spec but is 789 so tenner cheapernand better wheels. As far as I’m aware you will be loads higher Price on a defy to match the spec of the 6 but the 5 is SRAM.

Think I will get the Roadlite 6 or maybe 5 or maybe 6 aghhhhhhh

Canyon roadlite 5, boardman comp, defy, allez sport is nice but no tiagra and the thumb shifters on sora are irritating.

I’m looking at similar prices and keep coming back to Boardman comp but then I think about the team with full 105 but that is 999.

So end up going back to the canyon roadlite 6 I think the 800 one.

You want a canyon roadlite 6 or 7 at that money IMO

nice one. Raced amongst some of these at Cowes week 2008 and RTi 2009 they are mental speed and that was me on a sportsboat pushing 18kts.

I had one of these – he said i was taking the piss out of him and hoped id die. Then he said he was sending the police around to arrest me for breaking the law against cold callers and for Racial aggrevation.

He then called me a retard – he got upset when I asked him if he was the slumdog from slumdog millionaire and did he live in a sewer.

The conversation/fight went on a bit – when I asked him where his office was he gave me my address and postcode over the phone inc my name and tel number. At that point I hung up. Was quite ammusing for a short period.
