Looking at last year’s results he finished second. Looks like he made the same errors that year too. The rules are pretty straight forward, I can’t imagine how he got it wrong two years in a row.

TBH it was exactly what I expected for Catton Park after a bit of rain. A fairly tame course that could be very fast in the dry, then falling apart very quickly when the rain started. At least the rain stopped quickly. While it was a challenge to endure for 24hrs, not sure I will rush back next year.

Great to see the off camber section being taken out when it became unrideable, I think the course for these events should be a bit flexible so that they can be changed as the conditions changed. Also the fairly short course meant nobody was out for hours on end which did happen at Mayhem. The slowest lap on our team was about 1:20, and that was a fairly inexperienced rider.

Nice to see some security over night.

Take it you will love it. I am sure you could ride it all no problem. Unless you are a talentless porker (as mentioned above).

Would you like advice on tyres too?

And as for cartridges being easier maintainance? Nahh, not really I defy anybody to replace 5 Pro 2 bearings quicker than I can service a C&C hub

    ???

Do you realise that only two of the bearings in a Pro 2 rear hub are actually in the hub? FYI the other three are in the freehub body which are replaceable, unlike Shimano…

Come on then…how much are they paying you?

And you of course are completely unbiased and not a direct competitor at all :D

Fantastically patronising reply – well done!

I'm sure STW will be delighted to see competitors advertised on the forum.

Anyone used the application that pedalhead mentioned to make maps for a Satmap Active 10?

I saw a few of these at Mayhem:

Looked very bright to me, and considering one for my next light.

Nice repairs on Deer Stalker too.

Well done Gorrick – nice to see them getting praise as well as criticism.

surely we have to take into account climate change and how our Autumn/Winter seasons are differing from, say, 10 years ago?

I find myself getting into the car and driving to other areas to ride because I can't be bothered with trudging around Swinley's messy trails.

    Oh, the irony.

Presta valves are only for road bikes.

My skills are so good I have progressed onto flat pedals.

    This bike is a keeper.

If have been riding for a while and you know what you want then 'A' is the way to go, although do you really need to go over £4k??? However there is no point spending that much cash on a bike, then realising 12 months later that it isn't the bike for you and loosing shed loads of money selling it on. I see (and read about!)far too many novice riders buying something super bling and then selling it on, just to buy a different but similar bike.

An odd way to run a business.

BBB_Rich, didn't he sponsor your recent event? So hardly un-biased opinion of Superstar.

I have had a few bits from Superstar, brake pads and bottom brackets. They have varied in quality from rubbish to average, on the plus side they have all been cheap. This thread has put me of buying from him again.

Have a look on Merlin, see how much they would cost as a custom build. Knock 25% or so off their price, that shouldn't be too far off what they will sell for as 2nd hand.

Peter & Pants, thanks for clearing up the entry on the day situation. Will there be a pit area to leave bottles, and is there any water on site?

I might just do that, I have heard a few rumours that the course is very good :-)

Can I enter on the day?

So are Pants and PeterPoddy the same person? and PeterPoddy just uses the Pants user name when he is organising this event.

Personally I tend to leave entering events until a month or two before. It is rare that something sells out, and I have no idea what sort of riding I will want to be doing in six months time.

I agree with bigsi, stick a list of entries up, together with the number of remaining places. That way it gives a bit of urgency for people to enter.

Ring them up. They have more options than they list on their website.

I guess it works just like Double Tap on their road stuff. Push the lever a little bit to change one way, push it further to go the other way. It works fairly well once you get used to it.
