Thinking about it I believe you can configure VPN’s within pfsense, I know I have one setup for inbound connectivity to my network, I’m less clear about having one as an outbound route but quite sure I’ve read about it as it’s needed fore site ti site configs that migmake things easier to configure.
It would also open up the options of wired and non wired IoT devices using the vpn if needed.
captmorganFree MemberIn the absence of other suggestions you might be able to do something like this with pfsense running on a old pc as your router but it really needs a second nic and you’d also need a vlan capable switch and a couple of ap’s if your running into coverage issues.
Have a primary vlan for non vpn and a second vlan where the default route is via the pi-vpn trunk those to the ap’s and define separate ssid’ S for each vlan. That would manage the ap roaming challenge.
I guess you’d either need multiple Inc’s on the pi or vlan capabilities to handle the in bound / outbound traffic.
But I could be miles out
captmorganFree MemberIf anyone has Netflix and hasn’t watched the Epstein documentary I’d recommend it, it touches on the Andrew issue including an eyewitness confirming Andrew was on “Pedo” Island cavorting with a topless Giuffre.
It’s also interesting that the British consulate in NY went on record that there was no record of a stay that Andrew includes in his Pizzagate interview.
My view is he’s had sex with her, in locations where she was below the age of consent which is considered rape and is seeking to minimise the damage.
I consider that I do not have access to all the evidence and look forward to Andrew doing the ‘honourable’ thing and defending his reputation.
Avoiding service would simply seem like an attempt to avoid clearing his name.
captmorganFree MemberI’m sure you are aware but sync isn’t a backup, yes it’ll save you from a drive failure or accidental delete. It doesn’t protect from malware or ransomware.
captmorganFree MemberI knew I’d posted too soon for it seems the pendulum has swung back to…
captmorganFree MemberHave you had a look on fiverr.com or freelancer or peopleperhour?
captmorganFree MemberHeating two boilers independently is not that difficult it should only require an additional timer, thermostat and motorised valve.
The challenge might be isolating the tank outputs so they only allow flow when hot. If you don’t have this in place then you could be combining the output from a hot tank with the unheated one.
Another issue might be if one tank is only in intermittent use is the growth of legionella. Also another good reason to prevent the flow from a unheated tank.
It might be worth simply looking at a larger tank and having a longer heating window.
captmorganFree MemberTory MP Steve Baker who called himself ‘hard man of Brexit’ is now calling Brexit a ‘fiasco’
Classic schadenfreude…
captmorganFree MemberLots of great suggestions here especially those that have said don’t rely on just nas or cloud but ensure you nas is backed up off site
The piece everyone has missed so far is testing the backups if you don’t, how can you trust your data will be available when you suffer a restore event?
Depending how many months/weeks/days of data you are comfortable losing if the backups fail is the period you do restore tests, pick a file created or edited in that period and confirm you can restore it.
If you have multiple backup jobs then test each one, once you are comfortable that backups and restores work consider if you can lower the frequency of the tests
captmorganFree MemberMy understanding is you need to maintain membership for the 5 year period for the warranty to remain active.
If you factor this into the price then richer sounds might be cheaper unless you’ll get other use from the membership
captmorganFree MemberIt largely depends on your use case.
But given the general longevity of Mac’s and that the memory is not upgradable I would if it was me.
captmorganFree MemberAnother happy zen customer here, on the handful of times I’ve had an issue it’s been dealt with quickly and competently
captmorganFree MemberDoesn’t have streaming capabilities but has Bluetooth for streaming and dab for six music and well reviewed at £500

captmorganFree MemberGenerally at £5k you’d buy on condition rather than miles or brand.
That said there are some estates that seem to fair better than others, the Toyota Avensis, Honda Accord, Skoda Superb, Ford Mondeo, Vauxhall Insignia.
Re the mot check you’ll need to cross check it with its service history, having a number of issues over the years that don’t appear year on year is fine and indicates someone who spends to fix the car.
The same faults (if significant) year on year or multiple cascading faults over the last few years can indicate openers who have run the car into the ground. Also look for signs the mileage has been given a haircut. As for dealer vs private again it’s down to the car, it’s just as likely to find a good trade in that a dealer wants to shift as it’s not his ‘profile’ car as a trader who’s picked up a £3-4K auction special and used the metaphorical oily rag to wipe it over and it’s now on at £4995…
Buying private offers the same opportunities for bargains or for folk knowing a large bill is looming or even just knowing or caring little about cars.
Set up a auto trader search for £4-5.5k within however far you are willing to travel see what you like and look into the serving or known issues, does it need a cam belt every 5yrs or 60k @ £600 and that’s why the cars for sale or are x renowned for auto gearboxes going at 100k etc, etc…
Then have a look at the same on eBay and get a sense if there is better value to be had there.
captmorganFree MemberDon’t forget things spin the other way down under so you’ll need to put the hdd’s into reverse ;-)
captmorganFree MemberSo over on EE Bright Box Track World it looks like folk have issues putting the EE box into modem mode but have some success with tp-link deco mesh units.
Might be worth checking if there have been successes with other mesh systems
captmorganFree MemberSC-XC
Starlink satellite internet is coming to the U.K. later this year, while pricey and needing space for a dish its an option if speed is needed you’d get 100-200mbs I suspect
captmorganFree MemberMine can’t wait to follow Bodger J’s advice and get back to the office…
captmorganFree MemberConsider a new pre-reg Dacia duster around £11-12k new, 2017 ones are going for £6k upwards, you could have something new with full warranty for less than the lease costs elsewhere. With all the full warranty bonuses.
captmorganFree MemberAre you sure it’s a birthday party and not say a group of Tory party supporters holding a vital business meeting relating to their latest ppe supply scam er I meant deal…
captmorganFree MemberInvest in property in either Cypress or Portugal to regain rights to live in the EU. More likely Portugal, I suspect somewhere with easy beach and trail access.
A place in Austria for the ski season, and Thailand or Lombok for the Winter sun.
I’m not really interested in properties so large that needs live in staff.
Hobby wise I’d like to build a fun track day car so a full workshop/garage somewhere, I’d likely try for pilots and day captain licences.
Charity wise I’d look at affordable housing options and I know my wife would look at a cat sanctuary.
Obviously I’d take care of mum and friends.
captmorganFree MemberI assume the nice contractors have dug some refuse collection trenches for non identifiable refuse only to be filled overnight, no?
captmorganFree MemberI’ve posted this before but…
For not much more than your £10K you’ll get a new Dacia, there’s a bunch of folk over on PH with them and seems to be universally liked.
Might be worth considering

Party at mine anyone…
captmorganFree MemberAs others have said now is the time to do it.
It’s worth thinking about where you’ll place tv’s and have a couple of drops to each point.
Where your main tv will be I’d double that to 4.Home offices I’d put 2-4 drops in each office zone.
Bedrooms a 2 drops ether side of beds, think pc, printer, nas, ip phone etc.You can also run any landline analog phones via a adapter over Ethernet.
Where is the bt master socket going, is this where all the runs will go back to?
If not where are they going back to?
Wireless access points are they going to be ceiling, wall or desk mount, don’t forget to put in points for these
captmorganFree MemberTwo night cruse to Bruges on the P&O Britannia with 12 other blokes, brilliant but perhaps not the cruse you were looking for…
captmorganFree MemberI’d agree with the pro-ject tt recommendations and add that the audio tecnica offerings are worth considering
https://www.audio-technica.com/en-gb/turntables/type/direct-drive/at-lp120xbt-usb
https://www.audio-technica.com/en-gb/turntables/type/direct-drive/at-lp5x
Speaker wise I’d suggest Klipsch the fives, they have a built in phono stage allowing a cheaper tt and also a hdmi with acr meaning that can easily be used as part of a minimalist av set up too.
captmorganFree MemberYou can get a brand new duster for around £11k with all the warranty stuff that that brings
This chap has just brought one as have a few others, they all seem happy and if I was in that position I’d strongly consider one.

captmorganFree MemberThrough the wall, much easier to do and cheaper to undo should the latter be needed.
captmorganFree MemberHave a waterrower at home and have used the c2’s at gyms for years.
The waterrower has a more natural stroke but a less comfortable handle, I swapped ours out for a c2 handle.
The waterrower doesn’t like sub zero temps where the water can freeze, it damages the seal on the water tank and it’ll leak. It’s a ~£35 fix if your practical.
The monitor on the older ones isn’t great and won’t do hr monitoring.
The more modern ones do ans I think you can get an app and link to phone or tablet but I don’t have that version.
There is another monitor option called smartrow that I think you can option from new now for more ££
It’s harder to adjust the resistance as its add/remove water.
Spares availability is good.
In a heated shed/garage or in the lounge the waterrower is fine and I’d say the better option if used in the lounge
We got ours for a couple of hundred at the start of lockdown and C2’s were already silly money spent another ton on replacement parts and re-sealing the tank and it gets used daily
The C2 is the gold standard and if not being used in the lounge I’d go with one of these if available at a reasonable price but don’t discount a waterrower at the right price.
captmorganFree MemberConnecting to a shared library on a nas/pc/Mac is relatively easy.
What issues are you experiencing?
captmorganFree MemberHave a look at zen, they continually get good service awards but obviously are more expensive to provide that level of service.
captmorganFree MemberI presume he’s both astounded by and testing your capacity for rohypnol at the same time, be afraid, be very…
