I watched a chef recently who said that anybody who says they are “sealing” meat is talking rubbish. Frying meat does not make it impermeable, its culinary nonesense (his words not mine). Quite a few slow cooker recipes ask for this to be done before using the slow cooker, i dont bother,it always tastes nice to me.

Chicken has to be finished off in the oven though for crispy skin, its the law!

he was wrong, it really is a thing

No conflict between Sonos and mesh system (why would it…. Sonos uses the WiFi network, it doesn’t create it’s own)

not true, Sonos can set its own mesh network up, it depends how it’s set up, in some setups you can introduce spanning tree issues which can affect both Sonos and the network as a whole.

Googling ‘sonos mesh stp’ will give more info for anyone interested.

More of a Jungle and UK Garage head myself but it’s hard to appreciate those without liking early House and Garage.

just started listening to 883 centreforce via the web, loads of old school vibes…

Is it worth trying your travel insurance to see if that covers it?

it might also be worth trying the legal cover on your household insurance for advice on how to proceed, what to claim and how likely it will be successful?

The Delonghi recommendation is a good one, and I know this adds to the budget but I find the milk temp of some bean to cup machines to be poor and/or a faf to heat milk so I invested in a separate milk heater / frother from severin.

adjustable heat and foam volumes and easy to clean.

Cheep ssd and then install Linux on it if it’s just streaming and some word processing etc.

just check that any must have apps ether run on Linux or have an alternative e.g office > open office

Why not offer the complaining git a role, perhaps weaving hair shirts on site, cuts his commute down, stops the lights affecting him and he remains morally superior win-win?

Yep, could be a scam, they pay via pp, send a courier to collect and claim via pp non-receipt of the bike.

You have no evedence of the courier collection or delivery, pp side with the buyer and refund the money.

They can also do the same if they pay via pp & collect in person.

As you haven’t mentioned it I assume there are zero options for remote working?

i suspect not but it’s worth asking, perhaps there is some scope for remote freelance on a ad-hoc arrangement?

The more notice the more options could develop

Garmin (some) devices have a live track function but need a mobile with data to work so might as well just use the phone.

apple and I think android have this functionality built in but I’d use something like view ranger it has a buddy beacon function and more detailed mapping to help find / talk them out.

That’s no good at all, have you demo’d a e-bike yet, I think a few from here who have been looking at retirement from cycling have found them to give a new lease on life.

To be fair I says “Make entering and occupying land without consent a criminal offence”

So if enacted as proposed cheeky trails would still be a civil matter, but could pose an issue for rough camping.

As the op says the ramblists will likely kick this into the long grass, but as we know never, underestimate the daily heil readers dislike of all things not middle England.

Here’s an idea, why not ask the sparkie if he’s done this before it will be cheaper….

‘we had our sparks do ours no bother.

As for SK he thinks cat 6 is beaning used on jimdublyou’s issue when it’s a WiFi back bone so take a pinch of salt…

You will have a fibre modem that converts the fibre to copper and then some kind of router, they do not have to be in the same location if you have a copper connections elsewhere.

This is my fibre setup. In a hall cupboard. We haven’t got structured cabling in here yet as its a flat and didn’t come wired for it.

Having some wired points is never a bad thing, in out house we have 8 in out TV area, 4 in the office and 4 in the bedrooms. All wired back to the loft where the phone line comes in and our router, switch and backup NAS drives are.

You have to decide the central point where they all wire back to, an office, broom / under stair cupboard, loft? This is where your router and switch will generally live.

If you have issues with wifi connectivity in other areas of the house, then you’ll need to look at ‘Meshed’ wifi solutions, I believe Netgear, Linksys andGoogle and BT all have offerings in this space now.

I’d be worried about bpa in those bags, better to get a vac sealer and some quality bags designed for sous vide, useful for batch cooking as well as for bikepacking meals.
