If the compost pile is a big sloppy mess, its probably got too much grass in it. If you’re going to compost grass add lots of straw.
Id be tested to either burn it or run over it with your mower and compost it (see above about adding straw)
CaptainSlowFree MemberMy Bosch one is getting on a bit now and still working fine
CaptainSlowFree Memberfurry muff seosamh, t’was just a thought.
Bikebouy – depends which pod you’re after. I’ve had both the HD300 and HD500. Both sound good if you’re willing to put the time into tweaking them and have a decent means of listening to it.
Line 6 released their next gen unit the Helix recently and it is a massive step up. If you’re after line 6 kit I’d look at that if budget allows or the fire hawk (I think thats what its called).
If you’ve got helix cash though there are other options… ;)

i also prefer compound radius fret boards as wellcan’t say I’ve ever tried one, what’s the benefit?
fair comment on the amp btw. a host of pedals is unlikly to improve a poor amp (at low volumes.)
POSTED 6 HOURS AGO #There are a few but like most things its about what you prefer the feel of.
Being able to run a lower action without worrying (as much) about fretting out on bends.
I’m not going to write a lot on it. I like compound raise boards but then I play rock/metal and don’t really play my acoustic much at all. Here’s a decent looking write up – http://www.stewmac.com/How-To/Online_Resources/Neck_Building_and_Repair_and_Setup/Compound_Radius_Explained.html (if its crap, I haven’t read it)
I don’t like a high action and I don’t like scalloped frets either but that doesn’t make either of them any better or worse than a low action. It’s how it feels to you.
Have you considered getting a setup done by a good tech? A good tech won’t let you leave till you’re delighted with what they’ve done. It’d give you a good idea what to aim for next time.

Slight thread hi-jack. For sustain has anybody tried the Ibanez Tube Screamer? I have acquired a 5w tube amp that has a great tone but is bloody loud when it’s over driven. Looking to get a decent over driven sound with a sensible volume level.POSTED 9 HOURS AGO # REPORT-POST
What sort of amp do you have?
If the amp doesn’t have a decent volume circuit, but does have an eq loop, I’d put an eq pedal in the loop and use that to both eq the amp and reduce volume. That’d be my first purchase rather than an OD or compressor to do what I think you’re after.
Or I’d flog the amp and get one that sounds great at low volumes :)
Back on topic – action’s subjective, I like mine low. i also prefer compound radius fret boards as well ;)
CaptainSlowFree MemberI have that model. Works well, it’s easily a couple of years old now. Still works ;)
CaptainSlowFree MemberHave you considered chickens?
As you’ll be caring for them, at least if you go for chooks you’ll get some lovely eggs :)
we’ve rabbits, chickens and a dog. Whatever pet you get, as you’ll be caring for it, make sure it’s one you’ll enjoy.
CaptainSlowFree MemberI totally get why some folk prefer the gym to a home setup. I liked it when I went but needed something more efficient.
For me the cost was approx 2 years membership at the gym once I’d also bought the matting
I’ve a comfortable setup in terms of space etc, don’t have to wait or queue and can do the exact exercise I want when I want.
With it being so accessible, it really helps fit in with work and other commitments so is perfect for me. I don’t miss the gym at all but totally get why folk do like it.CaptainSlowFree MemberI have this setup with a few other bits n bobs (attachments, et bar and dip bars etc). I upgraded the weights.

Very pleased with it and happy to recommend it for the price. Have been doing 5×5 with it and made good progress.
CaptainSlowFree MemberWe just stuck with what he came on at 12 weeks (Royal Canin Maxi Jnr) and moved it to Royal Canin Maxi Adult when he met the height/weight criteria.
Great coat, lots of energy, decent poos and seems happy.
Flirted with the idea of raw but not got round to trying it yet.
CaptainSlowFree MemberI have one of these http://www.gardenmachinerydirect.co.uk/strimmers-and-brushcutters/honda-strimmers-and-brushcutters-umk425ue.html
East to start, efficient, not noisy, reliable and comfortable. Gets the job done using either the auto feed head or the 3 blade cutter for thicker brambles etc. Can also fit a rotary blade (not incl).
I’d happily recommend.CaptainSlowFree Memberis chopping it with your mower and composting it an option?
CaptainSlowFree MemberJust a garden design thing and you’re after screening rather than a single specimen. If you were to go with a smaller birch, from what you described, a cluster of 3 or 5 may look way better than 1
Edit – I’ve not read the article but there’s an example here – http://www.themiddlesizedgarden.co.uk/the-8-best-perfect-for-privacy-garden-trees/
Disclaimer – I’m not an expert! I’ve got a reasonable size garden that’s mostly a blank canvas so have spent a lot of time researching design, plants and trees.
CaptainSlowFree MemberIf it’s dappled shade you’re after you want a variety of birch. They come in various flavours, some big, some small, some bushy ish. All with little leaves and interesting bark that will be nicely offset on a dark backdrop.
Edit – plant in groups of 3, 5 or 7
CaptainSlowFree MemberIt’s a useful check box if you are already a pm or working in a project environment. At least that’s what everyone on the course I did said.
I found it useful and learnt something but I did the practioner mostly for fun
CaptainSlowFree MemberIf you’re a classroom type, it’s well worth checking training companies websites for cheap slots. £1495 down to £395 sort of cheap.
I’m not a fan of cbt but it’s doable. Are you looking at foundation or practitioner?
CaptainSlowFree MemberNot a pro but have just planted a modest hornbeam hedge. If bare root you’re cutting it fine – bare root can usually be bought Nov-may.
Lots of info online, I’ve gone for a single row about 30cm apart with 2 year bushy whips used. I’ve also had to use rabbit guards and canes.
I’ve also planted a Hawthorn hedge, as above 2yr bushy with guards etcCaptainSlowFree MemberCan you still buy “dumb” TVs?
I had a look recently as I quite fancy a 55-65″ TV but all were either smart or 3D and I’d rather not have either.
CaptainSlowFree MemberAmazon prime music seems to be missing a lot. Spotify is pretty good..
Happy Apple Music here – it’s better value when on the family sub.
CaptainSlowFree MemberPerfect puppy by gwen Bailey is well worth a read. Covers this subject in detail. By 16-20 weeks ours was pretty much house trained and going on command.

OP. just to point out in BMWs case, the X series cars are bigger than the non X
Eg 320 tourer boot 495 v x3 550yes, but an X3 costs the same as a 5 Tourer, which has loads more space. The 3 Tourer is similar price to an X1.
The X models are generally a chunk more money than the same sized estates.
The 5 series tourer has a 520 boot v the x3s 550…

CaptainSlowFree MemberI doubt it can be done as the shuffle and nano don’t even support Apple Music (piracy prevention).
CaptainSlowFree MemberOne very happy horse you have there spooky. Lovely to see.
CaptainSlowFree MemberWe’ve two that live outside in their movable run. They used to have the run of the garden in the old house but now need to be confined to their run. It’s got two hutches (one at each end) separate by a 2.4m X 2.4m X 1.2m high cage. I intend creating a bolt on run that I can move to give them better access to fresh grass. Access to the bolt on will be via a bit of drainage pipe.
Both hutches are on 2 levels and there are things for them to do in the run to keep them occupied.I’d love to let them be free but they’d get killed or escape here :(
current garden had foxes, wild rabbits, badgers, birds of pray etc
Great pets, just don’t underestimate the noise and voracity if loose in your garden :)
CaptainSlowFree MemberHave you considered something like this – http://shop.vodafone.co.uk/shop/mobile-phone/accessories/SKU75375-white
I really like my Panasonic cordless phones. Speaker phone on them is very good.
This would tempt me if I needed pots http://www.telephone-store.co.uk/polycom-soundstation-2-standard-conference-phone-non-expandable/prod_2842.html
CaptainSlowFree MemberI use either lync or Skype on my Mac using the inbuilt speakers and mic. Make sure you remember to mute when not talking ;)
CaptainSlowFree MemberOP your letter is far too emotional and long for a transactional complaint. I’ll leave it there in terms of the complainant itself and do nothing.
Only accept an offer you are willing to accept. Any behaviour outside of this is irrelevant.
Please tell me you had multiple valuations from multiple estate agents?
Also read your contract! Don’t rely on the person who created the contract to tell you the details. If you don’t understand ask a friend for help.
If you didn’t get at least three valuations from EA’s get them round now, ask them to value based on a multi agent fee. Find the part of your existing contract about fees and you will find out what the multi agent fee is for your current contract.
I’m not suggesting you go multi agent but at least tyou would have a broad consensus of opinions on the value of your house (as that is all EA’s can legally provide anyway)
Not all EA’s are bad.
CaptainSlowFree MemberSomething like this OP

No experience of it myself but am interested in changing my conservatory at some point so watching with interest

CaptainSlowFree MemberForgotten soldier – guy sajer. Interesting to hear from the other side
Bomber – Len Deighton. Fiction but well researched etc.
First light – Geoffrey wellumCaptainSlowFree Member+ 1 Tremonti.
Slash and May are great but there are many greats out there.
CaptainSlowFree MemberOP – Is he still intact? What did you decide?
Has anyone had this done as a precursor to introducing a second dog?
CaptainSlowFree MemberESP are made in Japan (I think). LTD Korea.
Spend as much as you can on the amp. Don’t get hung up on wattage. A decent amp will sound good at low and high volumes.
I’ve got 2 1 watt amps that I run through a 212 cab. They can get very loud. Focus more on whether the volume on it works well. My 50w valve amp also sounds great at low volumes. I use my 50w amp the most (at home). The THR is a great suggestion. Start there and upgrade later ;)
You know you will :D
CaptainSlowFree MemberI’ve seen pocket pod mentioned a few times now.
If you already own an iPad, bias with jam up has more functionality, better tones and is easier to use. Pocket pod is outdated now and it hasn’t aged like a vintage valve amp ;)
Bias can be bought for the PC too but is a bit steep IMO.If I was looking for a digital solution now though, in price order it’d be Amplifire, helix and kemper. I’ve committed a few acts of false economy (like the pocket pod) that just sit in a draw unused, so would spend more on the above.
Don’t shy away from spending :) you wouldn’t by a cheap bike if you could find a better bike through bargain hunting or second hand. At least if you buy second hand you’ll lose less when you sell it on.
CaptainSlowFree MemberI had a ltd ec 1000 with emgs in it. It was a lovely guitar. Sounded and felt nothing like a Gibson LP (it’s not intended to). The thin U neck is very comfortable and quick as well. A different feel to a LP. Nicer in a way.
Looking at the spec you get dimarzio pups in the one you’re buying. I think this will help bring it closer to sounding like a les Paul and it will be fantastic for classic rock tones. Depending on what neck profiles you like, you may well forget about buying a Gibson later. I really rate the LTD range for quality and like the neck profile.Be excited. Be very excited, you’ve got a corker there :)
Amp wise you’re spoilt for choice theses days. Depending on budget there’s a ton of excellent options.
Edit – as you’re getting amp advice, don’t get too hung up on amp wattage. Its relevant if you want to drive the output section or for clean headroom
You don’t need to drive output valves hard to get great tone so I’d recommend you focus more on getting an amp with a decent volume circuit.
Edit2 – and don’t shy away from the digital stuff. Amplifire, line 6 helix, kemper etc all sound amazing.Prepare to be skint. It really is worse than bikes.
