Osprey axis – edit probably too small and not outdoorsy enough. It’s more of a family day out / commuter pack.

I’m a proper fanboi as I can find songs I like even on the albums we don’t speak of. I love the new stuff and the old.

Highly recommend checking out their later stuff as well as the classic maiden.

    Can’t wait till May!!

Time machine and iCloud. In sierra it can be configured to put docs/desktop etc in iCloud.

You then have local and remote copies for a couple of quid a month.

For squats if the bar is hurting your shoulders you have it in the wrong place. Down a bit would likely help.

Have a look at Rippetoe’s vids or 5×5 for form.

Not sure what your budget is but there is tech out there that matches valve and has many other advantages. Lots of pro musicians use it now in the studio and on tour. Much cheaper to tour with etc it’s just a matter of taste now.

Check out kemper, line 6 helix, fractal ax8 and their axe fx. For home use I’d plug them into a pair of frfr monitors (I use Yamaha hs8’s). For live I’d either buy the kemper with the power amp and go to a 212, into a powered frfr wedge and/or iem’s. the output from the kemper/axe/whatever would go to the venue foh.

I’m guessing you’re not a young whippersnapper anymore so probably won’t want to be unloading 412’s and a 100w head?

Does it have to be valve?

I bought a kemper last march and haven’t played any of my valve amps since. Very easy to get decent tones out of and there are some great free and commercial profiles. Sounds great at any volume.

If you’re interested in a Marshall or laney sound, I may be able to help – I’ve an IRT studio and jvm 205 to sell. No point me keeping them …

Roland cubes are excellent little amps
Positive grid bias on the iPad with an apogee interface would be another good move

Our dobe sleeps downstairs in his bed in the kitchen or on the sofa in the lounge. It’s leather so easy to wipe down etc.

Given all the crap they paddle through, roll in and eat, ours doesn’t go on the bed and has restricted upstairs time as he’s he’s a tendency to snaffle socks and the kids soft toys. Wanders round thinking he’s the bees knees when he’s got something

When we’re out he’s the run of downstairs to do what come naturally to him. ‘Happy’ to be left for about 5h, could go longer which is surprising given how sociable the breed is. We built him up slowly and always leave him with entertainment (bone from the butcher). He’s not left that often which I think helps.

Edit to add – crate trained and routine +1
Being a dobe, training is very important as is mental (as well as physical) stimulation

I bought a play 5 to replace an old Panasonic mini hi fi that was 10yrs old. Nothing wrong with the old one except I wanted to stream and found airport express to be crap with dropouts.

I like the convenience of Sonos. Easy to setup, easy to stream. I don’t like the sonos app. I use Apple Music and like to browse new stuff by genre. You can’t do that in the sonos app.

Audio quality wise, I’m not overly impressed. I wouldn’t say sonos is better than Bose or any other wireless system for sound. It’s easy to use and I’ve not had one drop out issue as yet.

I will go back to a proper mini stereo (MCR 610 or similar probably) at some point and put the play 5 in the kitchen. Unless you really want streaming and multi room, I’d buy something else.

    I bought one of these

Varying posture and lots of breaks will make a huge difference. I’d buy another if i needed to

I bought the FTX Carnage for my lad for Christmas. It’s awesome.

I bought one for me too so we could play together :D

He’s only 8 so I got the slower one. It knocks the socks of my old hornet I had as a kid. Here’s the faster version

I’ve just bought a 9.7 pro with the Logitech backlit keyboard and the pencil. As an upgrade from an Air it is significantly better.

As you’d expect it’s much quicker but comparing the screen to the air or air 2, there’s a very noticeable difference.

Go refurb if you want to save a few bob. I think they start at 480 and would only expect the next gen to be even more expensive due to currency adjustments and a bit of piss taking (like the iPhone)

The value of the pencil is a bit questionable as a non artist but it is useful for work taking notes in Evernote and drawing diagrams.

It gets used for work in the morning/evening and on the train.

I wouldn’t get the big one because I’d find it unwieldy and I have other options if I need a larger screen etc

If you’re ripped library contains som ealbums that you treasure that aren’t on Apple Music, use iTunes Match to upload them to the cloud.
Subscribe to Apple Music – no need then to worry about storage space etc. That’s how I live comfortably with a 16gb work iPhone :)
If t were my iPhone I’d buy the 32gb…

I’ve not read all the posts here but just wanted to check you’re not doing any of the psu caps are you? or poking around that part of the appliance etc?

I’m only asking because you probably (by virtue of not being able to solder or identify the faulty component through visual means or using a mm) may not be aware that the psu section of an appliance needs to be treated with care.
I know **** all about washing machines but know psu’s well. If there is an issue with the bleed cct it is conceivable there’s enough charge stored in the caps (dependant on its design) that will at best give you a entertainingly good shock or at worst kill you. It is rare for the latter scenario but it is a possibility so thought it might be something worth bringing to your attention as a novice tinkerer..

The keyboard and mouse that will ship with your new iMac are rechargeable and are much nicer than the old ones.

Go for the 2TB fusion drive if you want a bigger ssd as part of the fusion drive. I wouldn’t bother with the non fusion.

As long as you go 27″ you can upgrade mem so that’s definitely the model to get.

I bought mine earlier this year (refurb – search for my thread)..it’s lovely (and I still haven’t upgraded the mem)

I’d go for the M135 or new M2 and get a set of winter tyres. No need for new wheel set, you’ll only be changing them twice on a car like that ;)

Thanks for the feedback on the selectabells Joe and sc-xc.

On this occasion, I’ve decided (as I’m moving off 5×5 too) to use the budget to get the weight stack for my pulley, standard 40kg DB’s (I already have a set of DB’s so will now have 2 sets), and some extra cage hooks.

I may look at the selectabells if I start using dumbbells a lot in future.

Home gym is way better for me – very convenient and there are no issues with queuing, can listen to my music, do what I want when I want and not have either my visual, aural or olfactory senses affronted

Weeksy – they’re way cheaper than power blocks or iron master…

alex – You’ve caused me to think a bit there – I could get some plate weights for the pulley system on the rack and a couple of 25kg platesI guess..

What sort of music do you want to play.

Get lessons with a good teacher, set goals and practice every day. Even if it’s only for 5 mins

Find a good teacher means finding one that will also teach you to play songs you are interested in. This will help keep you interested.

Practice some more, learn more songs you like etc.. have fun! Enjoy it.

Hal Leonard do some good books, there are plenty of online sites now – Justin guitar, licklibrary etc. But if you’re serious about wanting to learn, lessons will really help. They will also help you with discipline as you’ll have homework ;)

On topic Q: What do I need to plug my guitar into my iPad/iPhone?

    POSTED 8 HOURS AGO #

Apogee Jam 96k is great for that. Used with Bias to get some very pleasant tones. Good flat (frfr) headphones are also recommended to get the best from it.

I’d definitely go electric OP if that’s what you want. A great budget guitar not mentioned yet are either the PRS SE line or the LTD line 401 and 1000 lines I’ve played or owned are great.

What part of the country are you in and what is your budget?

I’d like to do li ion but I’d need multiple batteries making it cost prohibitive.

Thanks for the replies so far. So no ones any experience of tanaka then? Supposed to be a good brand?

256 would be easily used under anything less than Sierra. Sierra brings in some additional cloud syncing and optimisation.

What sort of noises do you want to make?

Find a local teacher that covers that genre (as well as others) and practice daily. Even if only for 5 mins, pick it up daily.

Alternatively, justinguitar is good as is lick library and others. There are also some great book series worth a look too.

I went for an Oris ti divers watch with an auto movement. Looks nice and is worn daily. Starting to look a bit used now but then I do wear it to work or DIY/gardening/etc.

I went for Oris as all my colleagues were wearing omega, Rolex, tag etc. And I liked the look of it. Wasn’t too expensive either

Quite like iwc pilots but in all honesty am tempted most by an aw2 at the mo //stone him!//

The chap on the previous page stating his tag is boxed pending a £300 service. Send it to http://www.chealwatch.com/index.php

Reasonable, does a decent job. Repaired mine when I dropped it…
