Jamie – I like the look of Maverick due to the changes in finder. is it worth upgrading or paying the 40$ for a licence for pathfinder?

good for those with sweaty parts, or do we like to wear them for days on end ? It surely can’t be due to cold bollocks
They’re for those used to getting their meat and two veg up close and personal with sheep wool.

That’s pretty much it. I’ve tried their cotton ones. They’re comfy but not quite as comfy as the merino ones.

And no, you dont wear them days on end. Merino may be whiff resistant but it isnt that whiff resistant 8O

Agree they’re pricey but what’s the point of it all if you cant have the odd little treat every now and then. Got me some long johns too just for good measure :D

I was with BG for a while and would suggest you save your cash. Boiler repairs don’t have to be expensive, but they can be, so they market a service you don’t need through fear.
The intro rate is ok but they soon start to hike it if they see a chance and if you’ve an old boiler they’ll give you some crap about not being able to get parts then pass you a quote that will make you wince.

    Find a decent local person.

Thanks for the input folks – some interesting ideas here that shouldn’t break the bank to implement.

Only downside is that the house does need to be fairly warm for my wife but I think the snug or wood burner in the living room sorts that and the CH of whatever type on a timer and thermostat for the in between periods.

I work from home quite a lot so think a mix of solar and PV is probably the answer.

Haven’t decided yet what we’ll go for, we may stay in the current village in a modern house (90s/00s) and add a wood burner / solar or go rural. There’s a lot to be said for knocking off time on the school run etc.
First world problem but it is getting on me mooobs a bit.

Take the allowance and the fuel card. Allowance will be taxed as normal, pay bik on the fuel card. At the end of the tax year claim MAR on the business miles.
Depending on how many business miles you do, you may end up doing very favourably from a tax perspective plus not paying much for personal fuel..

A fuel card can be an excellent perk.

DTF – I wouldn’t get an album cover tattooed on me personally (if I did it would either be somewhere in time or seventh son maiden covers).
But – back to my earlier point, what if think means nothing.

You can do better if you try ;)

What was your henna tattoo of?

If you like swirly surreal stuff I’ve seen some great ones in that style

Decide on the style you like – tribal, jap, Chinese, modern etc then research artists. Talk to some of the artists, decide on one.. Trust in the artist and go with the flow. It’s an experience that you should thoroughly enjoy (if tattoos are for you).

Try to avoid picking one out of a book or getting one where the artist uses a transfer. You ideally want it sketched onto your skin first so you can see the design and work on it with the artist. Then once your happy, out comes the ink gun and the journey continues.

I’ve just posted mine on tazzys thread. Ive got pics of this one in various stages – when it was being drawn on, then when it was being inked over the sessions. I’ve even got a bit of video from each stage.

Remember it doesn’t matter what other people like, it’s what you like that counts – unless of course you’re going to tattoo hitlers left testicle to your chin in which case my advice would be don’t do it..

Ahh, I’d missed the Swindon thread – my faith in STW is restored :D

I can’t say I’ve watched any other shows on tattooing other than this one; Miami Ink et al have all drifted past unwatched at Slow Manor..

Tazz -gerronwi’it. I like a good STW tattoo thread.

Soobs – whoever said a tattoo need be justified or explained or a reason provided. Surely this show demonstrates that :D

What’s taken you so long STW?

Genuinely surprised it’s taken this long. :)

It could be an an interesting program but so far it needs more art rather than focusing so much on the daft or drunk.

Seen some smashing tattoos on here (inbetween t3h haters dirge).

How hard is it to get skirting off on plasterboard walls? (15 year old house).

It’ll be oak, probably herringbone style.

My local sloe spots are very sparse this year. Doesn’t look like I’ll be making any. I’m ok for another year, maybe 2 though as I’ve still got several bottles left from a couple of years back :)

Out of warranty and only a few patches. I’ve used no more nails to glue the odd patch. Pretty much grabs it instantly. Just wondered if there was a better idea.

Think the ultimate fix must be to replaster but that’d be a pricey solution.

You could save some cash and get these – http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-MDR-7506-Headphones-Wired/dp/B000AJIF4E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381001171&sr=8-1&keywords=sony+mdr7506+headphones

Very good headphones, easily worth a lot more than you’ll pay for em. I bought em to mix with but also listen to toonz with em.

The newer ones are – my Red Metal XLs can be changed. 135/142mm at the rear and QR/15mm on the front.

Not sure if the kit can be retrofitted to older wheels.

Ping your local Fulcrum dealer and they’ll find out for you.

I’ve bought into the idea of a razor pit

I think the marketing of the razor pit is very good but I’m not convinced its as good as they make out. If you twisted my arm I would say it helps a little but it doesn’t do the gel strip any good.

Edit – and I don’t have the time to read a news paper daily. I read it over the course of a week and also get news daily from the web

They may not brake or grip as well as the current tyres but should do within a few weeks. Shouldn’t be an issue unless you’re driving like a tool.
If getting to the garage is a hassle I’d swap em now and save a trip

And now wait for the warmest autumn on record :)

Mines in raw and I’ve had it about 18months now. Still love it, still class it as my bestest bike ever. I’m running 120 XMMs, wide-ish bars and a dropper.

So how does crate training work then?

I’m thinking of getting a mutt for the family (grew up with dogs in the house). Do you lock them into the crate at night or when you go out to assist with house preservation or do you just use it as a bed with a roof?

How does Monkey Shoulder compare to any of the above?

    In particular the Jura’s?

    POSTED 11 HOURS AGO # REPORT-POST

It’s a blend of 3 malts. Less honeyed, slightly fuller and fruitier is how I would describe it. If you like Jura original there is a very good chance you will like monkeys shoulder.

I picked up some ultegra wheels for about £230. Only had em a couple of months but they seem nice and feel well built.

OP guessing that your “wife” prefers less peat n spices in favour of smoothness etc.

In which case don’t go for caol lla or highland park etc but head towards Jura original or monkeys shoulder. Bother those are flavoursome without being overly intense

Mine arrived today, very impressed :)

It’s hand wash only. I went for a large (@ 6’3″ 86Kg) if that helps. PLenty of length in the sleeve and the rear is scooped.

I’ve also got their waffler mid layer and a ton of their other merino kit. It’s built well and lasts very well. Their pants outlast the Finesterre merino ones IME.

If their cycle kit wan’t in stealthy black I’d have more of it too.

Unless you’ve had a noticeable puncture (i.e. tyre went a bit soft or there’s evidence of sealant) then 3-4 months – just throw a fresh scoop or two in.
