I don’t have cartridges in these brakes – can I just fit em?

Not been up but see it flying around all summer, looks wonderful and makes the best noise.

Except when the Merlin is being drowned out by the heli’s of course. Which is what it sounds like up here most of the time as the fly over hawkinge and capel. Repeatedly.

Ideally you’d want to get pater into a 2 seater but I’m not sure it’s possible in this country. I have sen experiences where you fly alongside in another vintage aircraft such as a tiger moth.

I wouldn’t want to fly alongside in a heli like they do mostly here. It would be more fun in another plane especially a tiger moth :)

If I lived any further south and east I’d be in Calais.

I made the switch to winter tyres last year. Same rims just a set of ultra grip 8s. Very noticeable improvement in the wet, in the cold and in the cold and wet (from about 12 and lower). I only noticed they were a bit more squirmy in the high teens.

And of course in the snow I could stop, start and change direction a lot easier. Great move for a RWD car – my only regret is not doing it sooner.

Its cost no extra as the wear on the summer tyres is reduced (swap over costs nothing). It’s a safety thing pure and simple. I’m a convert.

I’m a rubber fetishist anyway, my car tyres get changed at 3mm and I have winter and summer tyres on my bikes too.

I don’t often wear one, but always remember and always donate. I’ll often donate and not take the poppy unless I’m suited and off to work or going somewhere. Seems pointless and a waste of resources unless I’m out an about.

It’s our acts and our attitudes that define us not our trinkets or appearance.

Why can’t she use a passat for business?

Have a look at the golf, a3, 1-series (mk2), Leon. All of those medium family cars will be good on the motorway and round town.

Buy something more suited to high mileage comfort?

It sounds like your saying you’ve bought the wrong car. Treat the cause not the symtom is prob the best fix.

If you can’t afford that would a Leon, polo or golf sew the compatible (in terms of holes and airbags)? Is there such a thing as a more luxurious Ibiza? Can you order a seat from one of those?

Putting the car suggestions above to one side, the Ibiza is a great car but I’d still be tempted if budget allows to change it to something more suited and befitting of your STW demographic. I.e a Octavia / mondeo / vectra or BMW / Audi.

Or for the super cheap option a haemorrhoid / coccyx cushion ?

If you’re after cheap TNF I still have a Parker for sale. I’ve not worn it since posting this http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/fs-northface-mcmurdo-parka-black-xl

    not with any music on.

on my phone, move the slider sideways but slide your finger up/down the screen to vary scrubbing speed. Down gives half/quarter speed scrubbing, up gives access to fine scrubbing.

    make sense?

In iOS 7 the sensitivity of the scroll bar isn’t as good as it was. Getting the scroll bar to within 15-30 secs isn’t as easy as it used to be.
Another grumble is moving the airplay icon out of the music app entirely. I now have 2 steps rather than 1.

iOS 7 is a bit it of a step backwards in some ways

    //heretic//

Why does this bother me? Because if I’m learning a solo, I need to be able to get back to the start.

I’ve got an excellent app for looping and slowing down a song but as part of my warm up I play through a few songs and other songs (such as Time by floyd) I only know the solo and don’t want to sit through bits I don’t need to. I’ve only limited practice time.

I’d like an app I can build a play list in and skip the odd part of the odd song. Just wondered if anyone was using anything different and could recommend an app.

I’ve had both the heathen tassimo and espresso machines. I much prefer the espresso (have the milk thingy too).

I have no plans to change my heathen ways until it breaks, then maybe ;)

My kids love it (5 & 8) . I’d suggest swamp force as it’s the latest (they’ve all three). Get the portal of power that’s USB powered. The early ones were battery powered. Very good for team play.

agreed. I don’t like using it but there is no point paying the premiums and not using it.

And don’t worry bigG – inflating the loss is not something i’d do

Probably need to distinguish a bit – my comments were aimed at roles in the tech sector for “mid-senior” level.

For any role though, it won’t hurt to have a basic understanding of the company and may even prove beneficial – especially if its a customer facing role ;)

I’m amazed that folk turn up without knowing the basics of the company they’re applying for. Target sectors, products, revenue, headcount, industry reviews etc.

I had some chap tell me “it’s not important” during an interview :?

    CaptainSlow

Yes, very sure, I’m not going to tell fibs :)

I asked that exact question of the insurance bods (M&S) and they were unable to help and unable to explain how their NCD structure works (i.e. 1 year is x %, 2 years is y % etc).. and they were completely unable (and unwilling) to forecast how it would impact my premium.

It would be a 240v gu10 led setup if that helps :)

Mostly downstairs with a mix in the living room perhaps.

I need to find a good sparky – will be interested to see if he’s in the no camp too.

Quality over quantity could be one way to look at it.

The sleep thing is temporary and not that much of an issue really.

Only you know the answer. For me, I’d be at home especially if there’s no financial advantage and the home place is flexible.

Most model shops will have this in stock. Visit your local knee or phone some of the online ones.

Why plastic and not balsa/ply? You’ve got my curious it’s up, care to post pics n share? :)

Edit I mostly use 5mm ply for holding and structural reinforcement.

I use a hybrid version of this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Take-Back-Using-Outlook-Organized/dp/0735620407

For meetings etc I use Evernote.

Don’t bother with post its and note pads (especially in meetings). Learn to type quick enough and minutes etc become largely a copy paste job. spot the areas you can save time and being efficient and keep commitments.

If it’s being organised you’re after, everything you need is in outlook. The one thing I miss since moving to a mac is he missing functionality in office 2011. Roll on next year and with luck it’ll be closer to o365.

The other top tip for being organised is to follow some of the advice from the 7 habits of highly annoying people. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Habits-Highly-Effective-People/dp/0743501535

This will help in sorting the wheat from the chaff when implementing tbl

Like any framework I don’t recommend either are implemented literally. Study them and adapt to suit.

@boblo it wasn’t too bad with a .90 – I don’t recall having to do a lot to it to get it balanced. I think TBH, I was asking too much of it and being a bit of a hooligan

@acracer – I hadn’t missed your point at all. It’s just that there’s often an easy way and a hard way to do things. The OP didn’t mention heli’s in his opening post.

Even with heli experience (which Id consider to be fairly transferable in terms of the way the controls change nose in v nose out), I’d still recommend not bothering doing it the hard way.

It’s not just the safety or cost aspect, the blokes in my club were fantastic and a great laugh. They’d take the piss when the inevitable happened but they’d all stop what they were doing to help you retrieve your plane if it went pear shaped. I also got some great advice and tuition on some of the more advanced acro stuff (knife edge, loops, prop hanging etc).

We all know you can self teach but that doesn’t mean its the best way. I’ve been working entirely on the assumption the OP can stretch to club fees (mine were ~£30 pa) and wanted to do it the easy way.

Boblo – I had that chipmunk for a short while with an OS 90 in it. It flew very well until I had a problem with interference and it went in hard.

Op. Pis staking to one side for a minute, my club tutor had ninja like reflexes and saved me hundreds during the early days.
I wouldn’t bother with your suggested craft as the stabilisation electronics probably aren’t that good and it’ll need very calm day to fly on as it’s a small light plane. Believe it or not it’s easier to fly with a bit of a breeze..

That’s far from harmless in the right place at the right speed. You seem to have read the great advice and decided to ignore it or adopt it partially.
Yes, because unlike you, I know where I live and what I have available to me in terms of places to fly.

That’s far from harmless in the right place at the right speed. You seem to have read the great advice and decided to ignore it or adopt it partially.

The only harmless approach is a flight sim. But you are still better off leaving that until you know what tx you will buy so you can use that.

you’re being advised to join a club for good reason.

Save yourself the time and money though and donate that £80 to charity as you are wasting it. You will crash. Spend £30 less and get an indoor heli if you must scratch the itch while waiting to find a club etc

More screen to enjoy (to answer your last q op). Unless you need it to fit in a handbag, I’d get a bigger screen.

    I got one last year.

It’s very very warm, dry and comfy but there are a couple things I would change in the design.

Side hand warming pockets lower down
Chest pocket zips further away from main zip

If the money bothers you, the new Brecon from howies is better bang for buck, else look at their wool insulated ventile coat. If I was looking for a coat right now, that one would be on my list.

Both howies and Finesterre are making some cracking gear at the mo but howies are in the lead on vfm IMO

    Join the bmfa

Find a local club and join it. I think I used to pay about 30ish per year including membership. The club had a decent field and they taught me well and saved me a small fortune (by being on a buddy box).

Once you’ve got started and have a tx, buy a sim for the PC and hook it up (there are free sims available too).

I had some lovely planes and some nice 2 and 4 stroke engines. My favourites were the acrowot, cougar and panic. If I was to get back into it, I’d probably go electric (except maybe on my half built typhoon that I need to finish, that’s gonna need a .90 sizes 4 stroke if only for the sound)

Edit – I’d advise against self teaching. Better off in a club. Safety is very important but it’s part of the fun hearing the chaps behind shouting “mayday, mayday, eject, eject” just before you try and bury a few hundred worth of gear. When they’ve stopped laughing, they’ll always come help you find it :D

Not sure about popclip tbh based on the brummies video. I’ll check it out though, rude not to. Looking at your spaces link had me confused for a while. These are the desktops, right? I cant work out how to assign apps though as the instructions on the clicky you provided don’t seem relevant to 10.8?

Yoink. wowsers. Another one of my pet peeves solved today. At this rate I’m starting to develop a bit of a man crush ;)

I’ve only been using it for about the last 30 mins while working and I’m impressed enough to pay the $40 already.

Need to suss out what else I can do and how else it can save time – thx for the tip :)

Are there any other apps I should try out?

Will you stop using pathfinder in maverick or are the maverick changes good enough?

I’ve downloaded the demo – its much better than the default finder. But if Maverick has similar functionality I can save $40 but I don’t want to upgrade to Maverick too soon in case of issues etc
