I think he’s a top bloke, I loved the fact that he called Barry Sheene a “shandy drinking southern puffter”.
    Top bloke, top bloke.

You have two voices, one saying quit this thread while you’re ahead, the other saying continue in the face of posts where no one is playing ball.
Which one do you listen to?
And which one is the evil and which one is the good?

I had half a dozen or so pairs of Wayfarers a few years ago. You wouldn’t believe how many fags I got through to get them.

Isn’t there a legal issue with offering a different price / offers in different EU countries – Disneyland paris was in the news last week after it was revealed that french customers were saving €1000 over Germans on certain days.

Are we aware that there are currency fluctuations with the Euro too? 1 Euro will not buy you the same across the whole of the Eurozone. A coffee in Athens will be a different price to a coffee in Germany, as will the salaries across the zone for the same job.

With regard to the Pound/ Euro debate, haven’t we, as a nation, constantly rejected the Euro.
Having cake and eating it rings a bell here.

People often think that Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch contains 58 characters when it really contains 51.
Count them yourself if you don’t believe me.

Failing that, can you not just clamp/screw a straight edge on to your waste side?

It’s cutting a “U” shape out of the ply so an edge to stop it wandering out is all I’m after. If I have to sand or chisel out anything from the hole side (the inside of the U, isn’t a problem. B&Q can’t do anything as they can only cut straight, I’ve asked them. And based on experience their cuts aren’t all that straight either.
Long, straight piece of wood and a couple of G clamps sounds like the best bet.

    EDIT.

    You’ve changed the brief!

And you offered an answer that wasn’t in the question.

    Buy a cheap circular saw.

Probably ain’t going to do the 70mm cut that I want or do the curvy bit either.

Sounds like a sensible lad but no harm in having a watch of this http://www.channel4.com/programmes/tattoo-fixers to see some of the muppets who’ve had dodgy tatts.
I love mine btw but it does take about 3 years before thinking of a new one and having it done.

Weird. I moved recently and asked BT what to do. They set everything up, including the email that said that as I already had a new router all I needed to do was plug it in on a set date. I plugged it in the day before and the internet was already on.
Excellent service from BT, I’ve always found them more than helpful.
As I say it’s weird how some people get crap service and others get excellent service, makes me wonder whether it’s the individual operator or customer that’s the problem.

But severe or instant reactions suggest possible anaphylaxis and we wouldnt do that outside a hospital.

    I concur.
    Do you concur?
My first near death experience was with penicillin.
    My second was with sulphominides.
Erythromycin is welcome relief after that and a squiffy tummy an absolute pleasure. I was very young when they dicovered I was allergic to both and I’m more than happy to live the rest of my life without them rather cut it short in an attempt to see whether I’ve grown out of the allergy.

Is it a voucher to spend at B&Q?

Of course it is, it will have cost them £20.00 or £30.00, or whatever their cost price is but I get £45.00.

I reckon a few people might use your case to get vouchers now.

Good luck to them, there is a bit of a technique to getting it though which I’m not going to disclose.

We got back from holidays and in the post is a voucher for £45.00 from B&Q. I sent them an email and had a chat with them before going away and they decided that they would offer the voucher in order to cover the cost of the repair.

    Bit of a result.

What about your lovely lightweight spokes taking a sideways load.

That’s the extremism bit. Someone resting their arse against the wing of your car is in no way comparable to someone standing on lightweight spokes.

Maybe I have spds on so I scratch your rims a bit too.

You did say it was a mountain bike, didn’t you?

But it takes a certain kind of knob to take their own low standards and expect them to be maintained by others.

    Steady tiger.

That’s a lovely viewpoint. I hope you are happy with that. I bet if I went to glentress and tested your theory, the majority would be pretty peeved.

Apparently I am and I bet I wouldn’t (couldn’t give a toss about the majority). What would peeve me though is a mountain bike rim that would be damaged merely by someone standing on it. That would worry me a lot.

If I may go back to this post from yesterday.

Who the **** are you to decide how other people should prioritise what is important to them?

It would appear that now it is all the precious folk who think it correct to tell me how I should prioritise what is important to me. Funny old world.

I am keen to have a look at you bike laid there on the ground. In my efforts to have a look at it I manage to step onto your nice rims and light weight spokes. As its a super dupa bike I expect them rims can withstand someones body weight standing on them. Its only a bike anyhow. Imagine if the guy realises he is stood on your rim/bike and thinks its funny and tries to balance on your rim whilst talking to his friends about it.

And here we go to an extreme again. Why not just stick with the guy picking up your bike and having a sit on it? There’s no need to include imaginary scenarios and invented damage to support your claim, I imagine that those who accept someone sitting on their car can differentiate between a harmless act and wanton damage. I too would be less than pleased if your cycling example buddy decided to walk over the top of my car, but I wouldn’t be wetting myself if said example rested their butt on my car.
This is providing me with much amusement.

I ask again – would YOU sit on a stranger’s car?

For me it’s not about whether I’d sit on someone else’s car, it’s, as the OP asked, whether I’d get my knickers in a twist about someone sitting on mine. I wouldn’t and haven’t been arsed. HTH.

First thing to do is work out whether there is a gap in the market.
Do market research. Find out what potential customers will go for what they want and what they’ll pay for (and how much). Proper market research and not just asking mates whether it’s a good idea or not.
Remember that there is probably a good reason that a cafe isn’t in existance in the location you’re thinking of. Is that because there’s no custom or because no one has considered it before?

Ok, the “I hate cars” crowd just seems to be trolling…. What about if your motorbike was parked up and someone leaned against it?

This is pretty much the grounding of my position. I came down to the street one day to find an adult holding a child on the seat of my motorbike. Was I bothered? Initially yes, than I reaslised that no harm was being done.
Secondly I wasn’t able to watch the bike 24/7 and most certainly wasn’t going to worry about things that could or might happen.
I used to drive to events that had large fan followings and people would use the car as a rest, again I wasn’t going to stress myself about it.
Wanton vandalism and destuction is another thing, but someone sitting/leaning/brushing/looking at it in an aggressive manner is hardly anything to get my knickers in a twist about.
But if that’s all you’ve got to worry yourselves about, count yourselves very lucky.

Great idea, except have you considered the cost of maintaining these links – surface, bridges, tunnels etc?

Roads are maintained using income tax, why not the same here?
A reasonable portion of my income tax is used to fund various things that I have no use for, so that can’t be used as an excuse.

Well that took a little longer than I expected, but we got there in the end.
From a person merely sitting on a car to (and a risk to scratching the lacquer)…

So, I see a clearly expensive bike propped against a wall, quite possibly yours, and instead of standing next to it, or sitting on the wall, because my poor tired little legs can barely support me any more, I sit on the bike, causing it to move and slide against whatever its leaning against, thus putting deep gouges in the paint and the underlying structure, possibly carbon.

…the threat of something being written off. Excellent work sir.

Turns out they don’t know how to reverse either!

My personal favourites are the 4×4 drivers who refuse to mount a kerb or put a wheel on the verge ( I appreciate it might be someone else’s verge). I thought Top Gear had demonstrated that you can drive across Africa in a shagged out Peugeot rendering the Cheslea tractor redundant.

There’s a perfectly good, sturdy stone wall next to it if anyone wants to sit down, and no, it wasn’t parked across the pavement

But dude, somebody like totally owns that wall. Respect what’s not yours dude!

    captainsasquatch

It’s a simple case of respect. Clearly there’s quite a few on here who lack it

Are you confusing “I don’t mind if someone’s sitting on my car” with “I’m happy to sit on yours”?

So it doesn’t change a thing: why, in your opinion, should you decide what is/isn’t important to another person?

    FFS!

    captainsasquatch

I’d figured that much out. But still, why do you think you can decide for somebody else what should/shouldn’t be important to them?

Try reading between the lines and not taking a forum post so literally.
“[In my opinion] There are many more things that are actually important to worry yourself about.”
Does that help your enraged little mind?

Is it right that the reports from Silverstone are true? They are saying that Hamilton ballsed up the start because he’s wearing flipflops. His decision was based on reports here from the driving gods that only the best drivers can wear flipflops.
Unfortunately it failed on this occasion, but Hamilton is sure that his decision is correct and will be proven correct as the race progresses.
