6 bottles of quintessential English ales followed by a fine French wine.

Can I change the topic to something much more important?

    What’s being poured for tomorrow?

I’ve got a mixed bag of Tiny Rebel goodness, including a four pack of Cwtch that I doubt will touch the sides!

france v wales has the potential to be the most exciting – gallic flair vs welsh grit & cunning

Yep. The two bestest teams in the tournament, with everything to play for.

Also, with talent like Dupont, LRZ and Tips on show…

the Escapist should be a slightly better fit on the bike?

I’ve only used it on my more upright bikes (MTB and Brompton) and I’d say it’s as comfortable as my Raptor, only difference being that it’s (obviously) bigger.

Should have bought a CX specific pump.

Still not a patch on 29er specific saddles.

That remains a paragon of nichemongering. The recent ebike specific shoes come pretty close.

Oxfords, not brogues, my dear chap!

I have a Talon 22 for such occasions and it’s just about perfect.

Literally any bike when it’s not being ridden.

Don’t get me wrong, I love bikes, but storage wise they’re a nightmare, things that stick out to bash yourself on, they won’t stand up by themselves, They take up way too much room…Really annoying.

This is exactly the sort of petty annoyance this is about!

According to the English press Youngs played Dupont off the park yesterday so that’s the 9 conundrum solved as well.

Thinking of taking the Boy to the Kingsclere one as he’s keen to have a go at racing.

Fond memories of racing Checkendon back in the day.

Would you pass him on the right hand side? Or not?

I suppose part of the problem is no rider will want to hang around while the bunch is going down the road. At least in most other sports play can be stopped pending assessment.

A good point. Perhaps neutralise the time for riders getting back on after a test somehow? Assuming they finish within the cut off time, they get a time somewhere in the pack or something?

What do the pros ride for strada bianche these days?

Challenge Strada Bianche Pro. Awesome tyres to ride, but a little fragile for me.

Ritchey Alpine JB WCS. Almost as good to ride as the above, but much tougher. Fast, grippy, good puncture protection. Highly recommended.

    So…(hope this isn’t a spoiler!)

TGH takes a head knock and doesn’t feel 100%, so he climbs off.

    He did the right thing.

Can’t help but think it was also very much shots fired at JV and Bennett.

First car with a towbar has just arrived. One of those clever deployable/hidden ones. Currently using 598 on Evo Wingbars, which has been excellent, especially for carbon frame…

So, thinking of a Thule VeloSpace XT. It ticks almost all of my boxes so far, but says it needs a carbon frame protector, so would be interested in any personal experience.

    Failing that, what else does..
3 bikes, decent weight limits for at least one E-bike (future proofing!)
    Expands to 4 if needed
Lights and ting already to be plugged in
Tiltable to retain boot access (on a XC90)
Stable and secure when driving, at least some rudimentary locking set up
Some sort of fold, ideally to fit in the boot

    TIA.
