    There’s often some lovely ones on Facebook Marketplace. There’s a couple of groups dedicated to them. Or eBay.

    The good thing with second hand CX is because they’re quite niche you’re generally buying off someone knowledgable and they’ve usually been well looked after!

    There’s also a branch of Cyclists Fighting Cancer in Chorlton.

    I do pickups for them across South Manchester, so if you can’t get to Chorlton I can come to you!

    Could you send me a link to these please? 😀

    Whenever I’ve looked into smart plugs they say they need a 2.4ghz WiFi, but I don’t think my router does that. Is there another way to use them?

    Thanks!

    If you can head a bit further west, there’s plenty more trails and paths across Stretford Moor, Urmston Meadows, then over to Carrington Moss.

    I did 20 miles from Urmston on Sunday doing that, almost all off-road. Some of Carrington Moss is wide flat gravel tracks but there’s a fair few bits of food singletrack to explore too.

    A few medical ones here;

    Diagnosed with a pretty bad strain of Meningitis at 6 weeks old. Parents warned to expect a likely outcome of deafness or learning difficulties. I avoided both and flourished in comparison to some of the other kids on the ward.

    Diagnosed with Hodgkins Disease aged 10. Parents insistence of a second opinion got it caught early, so just needed a few weeks radiotherapy and avoided Chemo (or worse).

    Probably related to the above have Cavernomas in my spine and brain. If they pop I’ll have a stroke or ‘worse’ but managed to avoid that so far.

    And a bike one;

    Riding home from the midweek 10, a clubmate stopped to pick up a cap he’d flung during his race. He told us to push on and he’d catch us up, despite us offering to stop. Sadly he ended up hit by a car, and the one clubmate who did stop lost his life.

    Never met a bad Louise.

    Just to chip in on your FW target – I just did it in 7h dead after a solid winter of TrainerRoad (Base, Sustained Power Build, Climbing Speciality). I’m 65kg and around 250ftp so about 3.6w/kg. For that time my Avg Power was 178w, so nothing crazy. Training (and the weather) made that possible though, quickest I had done before was 7h48.

    If you get near the numbers you’re aiming for, you’d be looking close to ‘winning’ – my riding buddy hits 4.6w/kg and he was 12th fastest on the day.

    As others have said, a physiological session with a trainer is golden. I did one with a Guy from BC this spring and it was worth every penny to speak with someone so knowledgable.

    Good luck with your goal though, I’ll be watching with interest!

    I’m 5’10”, and I’ve just got a R3, which was matched up against my bike fit measurements.In their words, I’m a ’54 all day long’. So I guess you could/should be too.

    I love mine.

    What an inspiring thread! Top Dadding.

    Has anyone done anything similar with a 20″ Wheel bike?

    My lad is 6 in June and currently fancies a Hoy Bonaly 20, but this thread is making me wonder if there’s better options. (That charge frame would have been great!)
