Yeah that’s kind of it, I have the shimano rotor so suspect the problem is the adapter

It’s the larger sprockets that will exert more pressure on the freehub body rather than bigger gears, most force is granny ring and largest sprocket, hence you can get up steeper hills in that gear

I loved it when I was a student, have been trying to move back there ever since! Nice size, lively enough but not as crowded as the London, excellent access to wales and the sw

Thanks, didn’t have one in mind but thought it would be a way to dicover some new trails, I might do one and trea it as a slow road ride!

You can do it with a dac like the cambridge audio dacmagic, depending on what your phone is. That will give you the best quality.

I put down 5:30 which I thought was unreasonbably quick given lack of training (I hadn’t touched the road ike for a year before march), then did it in 4:50, and found that fairly easy

I don’t have the AM but have the FR and love it, yes it’s a lot of money for a hardtail, but full suspension bikes in that category are a lot of money for full suspension bikes!

In the right circumstances it’s as much fun as a full susser so cheaper in fun/£ ratio!

The argon makes an amazing bike, I’ve got one and love it, you wont be disappointed, but do you really want forks that long on a hardtail?

He has excellent tune selection if limited mixing skills. But he’s done some great stuff (first Unkle and mo wax)

As above, it’s all nice, try lots of beer and wander around to your hearts content. You can cover most of t an hour!

I do it and haven’t had any issues, you have to get the opposite lever to the side you want though

    1. Yes if the chainring fits on them
    2. Don’t know, check the internal diameter of the Bb and external diameter of crank axle, or look at sheldon brown website
    3. You’ll need a chain device, there are loads, superstar are cheap(ish) and work

Yeah the rapha jeans are interesting, but twice the price of a brooks saddle. I’d rather avoid them if possible.

For those quick to hate, if you’d read the original post I said I ride to meetings etc, it is my preferred method of transport and of course I will not be wearing lycra to said meetings. Any other fabric would wear out as quickly, with the possible exception of tweed!

There are stringent planning requirements relating to the noise, so no it won’t be a problem for you

Not necessary but I wore one and didn’t regret it. Bit of extra protection ain’t it. Up to you really!

I ride 32 up front and 11-36 cassette, if anything I’d rather have a smaller chainring but as above this isn’t really possible with most chainsets. As glasgowdan says, I have never spun out, on or off road, and I’m not that slow I don’t think.

Each to their own though, I do probably spin faster than some. I think that’s a better technique than learning to push slower up hills though, look at track cyclists and that, they’re well fast with their very high cadences

They do sales every now and again, and sample sales if you live in London, only once a year though

yeah that’s what I was a bit worried about, woul remain 8 speed, it’s not as big a crossover as small-small, but not ideal

I have a normal tyre on, but it doesn’t sound like noise from the tyre to me, sonds more like a mechanism of some kind. Wouldn’t be able to drow n it out with anything that would not be considered noise pollution!

I’d go for the plus, depends whether you value a quiet drivetrain with no chainslap or having xt rather than slx written on your mech though I guess

I used adept finishers near Croydon, pleased with them and the guy who did it used to build frames for TJ Quick!

    Cost £70 I think

Yeah I used one for ages on my commuting bike. I did the sheldon brown file the axles down thing. Worked ok with a qr done up tightly, but I’d have to put a tensioner on after ~1000 or so miles on the chain

Now I’m very confused. So are people using them in the biopace fashion or the other way round
