The sweep look interesting. Anyone had experience of the dvo diamond? I like the integrated mudguard!

Are pikes significantly better than the revelations? Have not been hugely impressed by what I’ve seen of them

What’s so good about osprey? I’m also looking for one but a bit bigger to go for a weekend of trails riding, 20l or so. Compression straps or similar to keep things from moving is important.

29er will definitely be of benefit for touring and fire road stuff

I may be missing something but the two sides will not have the same spoke tension, ever, unless the angle at which they go between the hub and the rim is the same, which it generally is not for a rear wheel. The lateral force must be equa which means the tension multiplied by the sin of the angle from rim to hub. If the angle is small, as in the drive side, the tension will need to be high.

Thanks all, very useful. What happens on Monday nights??
Turns out the settle line is not running on the Sunday, so we’ll have to get the train back to Leeds from elsewhere, but it seems like settle is a good place to start

I have a beresford caiman 2 which is excellent. It replaced an eBay job “valab” which was also good. Would be happy to move that on for £30 if you wanted to try one. Both much better than straight from the computer.

I have some Royce, tbh there is some play in them after not many miles. That said I have made no attempt to correct this in any way (eg contacting Royce etc…) so can’t really complain. They look great though, and you can talk to the man who designs them if you want

Start a crowdfunding proposal? A co-operative owned mtb park. Could be good.

Is there anything else on the same circuit? If there is try disconnecting them. I have had problems with leds flashing when switched off

yeah, been through all that. a few casters seem to have made them bespoke but that’s all I have found. Could be a gap in the market perhaps

thanks, nothing on either of those though

The quality does vary as well, not sure if it has much real world effect but I thought I could tell the difference between budget rotors which were quite thin and flimsy and the shimano/hope/Magyar equivalents. They certainly feel much better quality when fitting.

My rc3s are by far the best forks I have ever had, and anyone I know has ever tried! This is sad. I can’t imagine fox doing anything good with them, would be strange to consider them a cheaper brand given the quality of the marzocchis is so much higher than the overpriced fox tat. Wind wave have been really good too, significantly cheaper servicing than any other places.

yeah, as you say it is not particularly complicated. I also put profiled foam from these people under chairs and tables and anywhere I could:

Dorkingstation then go west along the bridalway to the north of therailway, head towards peas lake as most of the riding centres around there

I have the cheapest harming which is pretty useless as it only successfully gets a satellite link about 50% of the time I use it. Get one with a big sensor.

I have 11-36 on a helius AC and have not noticed any chain growth issues. Generally won’t be in a low gear if the suspension is being used through much I its travel so I suspect it may be a theoretical issue not borne out in the practicality of riding the bike

Why are your elements going? The instantaneous heaters are exactly the same but wih less storage and a bigger element. If it’s a hard water problem you will only make it worse. Water softener maybe?

force = pressure x area, the 29er would have a larger contact patch and therefore would provide a larger upward force for a given tyre pressure than the 26er, so would bottom out later.

    I think.

M&S long lambswool socks for winter, toasty warm even when wet and you can wear them to work after

Physics suggests it won’t work very well (it is too thin). It may have a low emissivity/absorptivity which may help you lose less radiant heat to the cold walls, but it won’t let you maintain a higher air temperature for less energy. If you have the space, insulate the walls properly
