Santa Cruz offer lifetime warranty on the bearings, my LBS pulled them, sent them off to Jungle for replacements and re-fitted for cake 8) why spend money if you haven’t got to. Having said that, if I were doing the job myself, I’d get the right tools from Jungle.

I run RS7 square taper Duo 42/29 combo alright on my Surly Crosscheck. I do use an old 105 road shifter and LX mtb front mech though, works a treat 8)

Er, I understood what you said, I didn’t understand why the trees missing on one short section of trail would stop you coming to NYA and as for it being the ‘best track’ there……….

    CaptainCrash

Frankly though without the trees on HAAK… I wouldn’t bother going to NYA

High as a Kite is gone for the duration. :( the entire area has been clear-felled with the inevitable damage to the trail. Officially, the area is to be re-planted with 13,000 oak trees and other native species before Spring. We suspect the trail won’t be repaired/rebuilt until after those are established……

….provided they’re serviced regularly ;) yes tool is worth getting, you can’t re-grease the bearings properly without it….

my guess is the bolt has sheared. you need to remove the bearing cap against which the ‘self extracting’ bolt bears (it’ll be a left hand thread) you’ll then be able to remove what’s left of the crank bolt and use a traditional crank puller to remove the crank arm from the thru-axle – hope that helps!!

    edit, beaten to it ;)
