Good Friday spent putting in 180ft of spuds and broad beans, harvesting the last of the leeks, the first of the cauliflowers(a first for me :D), great day, sunshine, hard graft and a bit of solitude.
The ‘clincher’ had to be the Hobby that took a Blackbird of a fence post not more that 20 feet in front of me at full tilt! Made a hell of a racket and startled the bejeesus outta me, the falcon then hopped about with the squawking Blackbird momentarily before flying off with it over the hedge.

An amazing sight to have witnessed, but i wish it had taken one of the damn pidgeons!

There is a flaw in Ernies plan..

Harry reckons the Mother n toddler spaces are near to the entrance to reduce the chances of the ankle biters running out and getting splatted by messrs Offiah and Hatton.

If the spaces were at the further end of the car park, Ernies fatties, being incapable of reaching any speed to enable escape velocity from thier parents would be left unharmed.

A wierd Darwinian ‘survival of the fattest’ scenario would then be played out leading to the whole of the supermarket car park bieng marked up as disabled spaces to allow the surviving fatties egress from their vehicles…..

Have a peugeot partner proffessional 08 1.6 HDI, used to have the expert. Good fuel economy, dont know exact figures but i can get 500 to 550 out of the tank normally. Usually filled to the brim with bikes or stuff for the tip as we’ve just gat a new house and garden to sort.

    Great little van!

Can get 2 bikes in with the front wheels on and all the kit no probs. Dont seee a problem with towing but not towed with that vehicle.

I need fuel for work. Have gone over my milage allowance for the year…back in january, so i’ve been subsidising the NHS to drive to the clinic/domicillary visits that ive been sent to.. to stop peoples feet rotting off. Im not going to whine or whinge about it. I drive a vehicle on the roads, its my job, and it gets me to the hills for my riding fix.

My Career choice, im part of the problem, Fuel is getting low, but dont whine about it, dont whine about people filling up while they can! Our love affair with the petrol engine and our need to flatten the land with tarmac to facilitate its use is our bloody fault!

Go fill up, have a moan about the price, have a moan about the queue, have a moan about having to drive around to find fuel due to everyone else having more than a pair of brain cells to rub together and get on with it like everyone else…

if you prune the lower brances by a 3rd you will encourage a lot more growth, and fill the tier quicker than if you left the or only lightly pruned them

Why would you want growth lower down? Is the tree a spur, or tip bearer? Train the two branches to the wires, support them on bamboo canes at 45 degrees to the wire and adjust them parralel to the wires gradually, train the leader straight and prune again when they reach the second wire, then repeat for the 2nd tier. I have 8 trees like this at home and plan another dozen more as a fence around our property. Just have patience, its easy enough. Mine have 4 tiers, are 6ft high and have taken 5 years since planting to reach the last tier. Plenty of fruit on the 2nd year of planting to be honest. I have apples, pears and quince trained this way.

Quit smoking after several attempts, some of which even lasted a couple of years! Social breaks at work were the worst. Finally cut mu smoking down to 20 a week, but they were all smoked between 7 and 11pm on a monday night playing pool! Eventually quit pool for 4 years while back at uni, and never missed them. Even back playing now and still dont miss them, been 8 years now! Good luck fella…

Stick with the stuff that would benefit from the warmer environment. Tomato, pepper, chilli, aubergine, cucumber, melon, successional lettuce.. spuds are good to set later in the season for ‘new’ potatoes at christmas for example..

Cant answer for dog breeders but bred pedigree cats as a registered breeder…

Its all down to the honesty of the breeder. Visit shows/breeders and get taliking to them, they are a very competative/protective bunch and the honest ones very proud of what they do and only too happy to help you aviod the ‘rogues’ and puppy farms.

Any breeder worth their salt will be only too happy supply references of satisfied owners of their pups.

History of blood lines can be checked (althopugh painstaking and not easy) through cross referencing of related blood lines and matings.

    Good luck!

Im not saying chiropractors are purveyors of snake oil, just making the point that we’re not all out for profit, certainly not with the NHS! mansonsoul, get yourself to see a physio/podiartist for a full Biomech examination and take it from there.

DT78, we dont advise people to ride with them, and i suggest you leave them out if you wont be doing any significant walking. The orthoses can be kept quite fresh if you wipe them down frequently, they shouldnt pong too much! If in doubt check with your Podiatrist for his advice.

Dad died two years ago. Had no idea how much i’d be affected by such a loss of the one guy i looked up to and aspired to. I found myself in exactly the same situation and definately didnt want any form of unsolicited intervention no matter how well meaning. I didn’t grieve properly for a long time until funnily enough last weekend when reminiscing about ‘Haddad’ with my 12yr old lad. Wept buckets unexpectedly but fortunately realised what was happening and just ran with it…..

Feel as if i have been run over by a bus and emotionally drained but also refreshed and ready to grab life by the throat again, rather than just shuffling on behind it as i was before…

IMHO Just give it time and be there for him.
